Only one thing about yesterday's weather was notably good. From late morning it seemed warm enough to open the bathroom windows again. It was another day when a lot of electricity was saved by not needing any heating for a lot of the day. Unfortunately it was mostly a dull day. At times it even looked dull enough for rain, but I don't recall any rain falling. There were a few sunny spells in the morning, but the couple of other times faorecast didn't not materialise. The early afternoon temperature reached 14° C.
     maybe brighter
                                  this afternoon
This morning is rather dull, and there has already been one light shower, and maybe that shower continues ! The latest revision to the forecast shows the sky brightening from 11am, and further rain for the day has been removed from the forecast. There could be a few hours with sunny spells this afternoon, but I suspect they depend on gaps in the clouds being in the right place at the right time, and are impossible to forecast with any accuracy. The temperature forecast is usually right, and this afternoon may only reach 8° C, and not the 9° C shown in the early version of the forecast (above). Tomorrow morning may only be a degree or so away from a frost, but it will warm up to a cool 8° C. There may be a few sunny spells tomorrow morning, but much of the day will be dull, and there is a 50% of light rain from about 5pm.

Waiting for another Amazon delivery again set the pace for yesterday. It didn't arrive until just after 6.30pm, and so I could have been free to go out if the weather was more enticing than it was, and if I had any sort of confidence as to when the parcel would arrive - "before 9pm" is not terribly helpful. Midday is "before 9pm" ! Later updates slowly narrowed the delivery time down, but the first was something like between 2.30pm and 8.30pm. The last estimate I saw had narrowed it down to a 2 hour slot, and it arrived just before that two hour slot ended.

It is hard to remember just what it was that I did to pass the hours yesterday. One thing I definitely remember (because it wasn't boring) was making and eating lunch. Yesterday I said I ate the last of last Friday's Indian takeaway, but I was forgetting the naan bread. It was still sealed in it's special paper and foil bag, and seemed soft and fresh. I covered it with cheese and some of it with ready made chilli purée, and microwaved it until the cheese melted, I must admit it was not ideal for reducing my blood glucose, but it was delicious.

There was one other definite thing I did because I thought I might go out shopping or something, and that was to have a nice shower. Once I had half dried myself I dared to open the bathroom window to let some fresh air in. It was probably about 13° C, and although a little bit cool on the still damp parts of my skin, it did feel rather nice and fresh. I left the window open, and it is still open now, but maybe I'll close it soon because today is not going to be a warm day.

There was one other thing I did yesteday that suddenly comes to mind. It was to cut up about three big boxes that had bottles of beer in them, and one smaller box. They had been building up on my settee in the front room, and it was good to mostly clear it, but there were some smaller, possibly useful boxes, that I kept to put smaller stuff in - although at this point I don't know what. Slicing up boxes with a box cutter is very therapeutic....or at least I seemed to enjoy it.

One job in the afternoon was to do the washing up so I could start to prepare my dinner. Part of the preparation was to pour the cooked chicken and gravy into a pyrex casserole dish from one of the new glass looking, but actually clear plastic storage boxes I bought from Poundstretcher on Sunday. They warned about using them to store hot liquids. The container was vacuum sealed tight after I had poured in very hot gravy and chicken. I had to put it in the microwave, and heat it long enough until it was just starting to boil so the steam would fill the vacuum, and I could get the lid off.

That container didn't melt or crack while in the microwave, and I guess I could cook in it, but I did note a sort of haze on the surface at about the level the boiling gravy was, but only on one side. I guess if I don't want them to suffer the fate of a lot of plastics, gathering a sort of greasy haze when used for cooking, I had better pay heed to the instructions about not using these new containers for hot stuff.

My dinner was a simple meal of a couple of skinned, boneless chicken thighs with cauliflower, broccoli, and a single small red onion. I gave it all a sprinkle of basic curry powder, and stirred it in before I gave it the final 5 minutes of cooking/heating up before I ate it. The curry powder was a new purchase from the last time I went in Aldi. It didn't seem very nice, and didn't enhance my dinner, although it was all quite pleasant to eat.

Being a weekday, there was the usual Star Treks on TV to watch during and after dinner. It seemed to be one of those days when all the offerings were not great episodes, although the Star Trek: Enterprise episode was fairly good. As usual, I took a break from TV for 90 minutes before turning the TV on again to watch QI. I didn't recognise the start of QI, but 5 minutes in the episode became immediately familar when they started playing with Periscopes.

That was my cue to turn off, and go to read in bed. I read for maybe 15 or 20 minutes before putting the book down, and turning out the lights. I had kept the heating on low during the evening, and my bedroom was heading towards being a bit cool. That made it comfortable to fall asleep under the duvet, and I think I was fast asleep before 10pm. I seemed to sleep well, and possibly got up fewer times than some to go for a pee.

The bathroom windows was still open in the night, and I expected it would be freezing in there when I went for a pee. Maybe it was because there was almost no wind last night, that while it was definitely rather cool in the bathroom, it didn't feel that uncomfortable. I guess it was because I was sleeping so well that I can't remember dreaming that much, and even the dreams I do remember having have no substance this morning.

Another aspect of apparently getting a good night's sleep was that I was up earlier than usual this morning. I think I was out of bed around 6.15am. As usual, one of the first things I did was to check my blood glucose. It was probably lucky I decided against some potential snacks yesterday because it was probably my lunch that was responsible for my blood glucose being up a bit to 8.8mmol/l. That was just low enough to shave a tiny bit off my rolling average for the month, but a figure nearer 7mmol/l would have been more desirable.

Once again I am at the mercy of the man from Amazon. I am expecting the third part of one single order today. The chances are it will be delivered near 7pm, but I will still be on high alert all day. At the moment I have no desires to go out. Having just been to the bathroom I realised that the wind is now feeling quite cold, and I have now closed the bathroom window. Before I closed it I saw there were fresh raindrops hitting the glass, Looking out on the road it looks like there is a lot of rain hitting the puddles out there. They only good thing, but it is too cold to take advantage of it, is that the rain filled air does smell sort of sweet !
