Yesterday started with a few light showers, and maybe a slightly heavier one. I think they probably finished by 10am, and then the clouds started to dissipate. An hour or so later much of the sky was blue, and we had almost continuous sunshine until almost 4pm. Even after 4pm the day still seemed fairly bright. It stayed fry in the evening as the temperature slowly fell from a high of 8° C down to 5° C or maybe less.
     glorious sunny
                                  morning, but very cold
This morning there was a frost ! It was because of clear skies overnight, and that also meant there was loads of sunshine, but the forecast only says sunny spells, and that they will finish after 10am - however, although the sky looks a bit misty there are still patches of blue, and I can't see any proper clouds. Maybe the sunshine/sunny spells will last longer - just like yesterday. It is forecast to be a cold day with a maximum temperature of only 7° C. Tonight will probably see rain, but the thick clouds will keep the temperature from falling too far. In fact it would seem the temperature will rise in the night, and tomorrow is forecast to start (at 6am) at 9° C. No sunshine is forecast for tomorrow, but the afternoon temperature could rise to 13° C. Tomorrow evening could see showers again. It would seem that everyday until almost the end up the month should see an afternoon temperature of 10° C or over. Perhaps it really is spring, but very little sunshine appears in the forecasts for the rest of the month.

Yesterday could be described as another wasted day. I didn't seem to do anything of great significance as I waited for my Amazon delivery. It arrived just after 3pm, and that was earlier than expected, and could have caught me out if I had decided to go out for a walk or shopping, or something.

With so little going on, I find that there are no triggers for my memory, and it is like the whole day was just a sort of blur. I did do a the washing up, and prepared my dinner in the late morning. It was to be a beef stew with mushrooms and other vegetables. It ended up as quite a big portion when I noted the pack of diced beef had a sell by date of 2nd March. The beef was just starting to look a bit brown, instead of the usual supermarket pink. I was going to only use half, but I used the whole lot.

Once I had the base of my dinner cooking in the microwave I got some lunch together. It was 4 pea and lentil, beetroot veggie cakes. (note to self: remember to buy more when in Tesco next). I had ham and cheese on them. Later on I ate half a pack of ketchup flavoured, baked, micro chips. They didn't seem as nice as he last pack I ate, but I still shovelled then down !

Just after 3pm the final part of my recent Amazon order arrived - a lot earlier than expected. It was a second, slightly different laptop, or Desktop PC, mouse.  The main difference was that it connected to the computer, desktop of laptop, via a little dongle, or via Bluetooth. I've never had a Bluetooth connected mouse before, and I concluded that while it was good, there was a potential flaw. On my PC you need to use a (non Bluetooth) mouse to switch on the Bluetooth before you can connect and use the bluetooth mouse ! Once connected it worked well, and it has a bright multicoloured LED inside it for a few minutes or wonder until you mentally blank out the light show. All that was just £6.99 !

Dinner was still almost 2 hours away, and I was feeling peckish again (probably boredom), and I decided to scoff the rest of the bag of ketchup flavoured micro chips (or chip sticks). The first time I bought these, just a fortnight ago, I ate a whole pack around the middle of the day, and didn't seem to suffer any bad effects from them. Yesterday I may not have been so lucky. I think my dinner of beef stew was safe enough, but I sometimes have doubts about mushrooms, and the single, medium sized red onion may have added some sugar to it.

I watched my usual early evening TV, and last night I did stay up to watch all of QIXL. The latter finished at 10pm, and I went straight to bed after it, but read for about half an hour before trying for sleep. I was probably asleep by 11pm, and I seemed to sleep well last night. There were two periods when I seemed to have some extensive dreams, and maybe I was not sleeping so deeply at those times.

The first dream(s) were obviously inspired by the book I am reading. It is another SciFi book set on a completely alien world that has an unusual chemistry - or more likely the native words for what might be otherwise known chemicals make them seem to be different to anything I might know. There was also some paranormal stuff making up a little of the story in the book. My dream was about some "magic" stones that could indicate direction and speed. They were used by placing them into a shape that looked a lot like a mouse. I am sure my dream was directly inspired by my new computer mouse.

The second dream, which occurred in the second half of the night, was a real "blast from the past". It was set in an approximation of the telephone exchange I once worked in, and featured on co-worker from that time. The time was approximately 1983, and we had been trying show show a VHS video on an old CRT based, Pye television. The playback seemed very ragged, and we thought it was a fault with the TV. We seemed to have circuit diagrams and spares for TV repair, and so dived in. I thought it was something to do with timing in the sync separator circuitry. After a head scratching half hour or so, I finally realised what the problem was.

Everybody there should have known what the problem was, and there were more people there than just me an the workmate. I'm sure that back in 1983, when everybody had a VHS machine, everybody knew it was supposed to be viewed on the last channel button on the TV. That button had extra contacts to change the time constants in the sync separator that were more suited to VHS playback. I remembered just in time for the dream to end, and before I could check it.

This morning I was dismayed to find my blood glucose had gone up to 9.2mmol/l. That is not dangerously high, but a lot higher than I am comfortable with. The worst thing is that I am not sure what caused it to go so high. I guess the ketchup flavoured chip sticks didn't help, but maybe it was the red onion, or the mushrooms in my dinner. I can't think of anything else that could cause it - apart from illness, and I seem to be in fair working order this morning.

There is only one important thing happening today, and that is a visit to The Jolly Farmers. There is no chance that Angela will be there. I have heard no news about how her broken leg(s) is healing, but what I have heard suggests it could be months before she returns to work, and I have doubts she will return to work. She is the same age as me, and could have retired a couple of years ago. It is possible she will get too comfortable not being at work, and will choose to retire.

It is still pleasant to go to the pub by myself. There is always a bit of banter with the few customers they get of a Wednesday lunchtime. I shall go there on the train, particularly since measuring the distance, and finding it is almost the same amount of walling whether I walk or go by train. Going by train means I can pick up The Metro, and then can sit in the pub doing the crosswords while I drink my Guinness.

I've just had a look out the front and back of the house. The sky looks to be that greyish blue that suggests the cloud is very thin, and easy for the sun to punch through. I feel sure that the sunny spells, albeit maybe slightly watery sun, may continue after the 10am deadline. The BBC weather forecast actually says until midday.....and after a refresh for the latest revision, it says there could still be sunny spells at 1pm. At this rate I could be going to the pub in sunshine. Bonus !
