My
Diary/Blog For the Month of March 2023 |

There wasn't a lot of sunshine yesterday, but there were a few sunny spells. I think there was less rain than forecast. Most of the rain seemed very late in the night. Once again it was a fairly mild feeling day, and the temperature may have reached almost 17° C, although the forecast said only 15° C. I would dispute the heavy
rain shown in the forecast above for the start of this
morning. It is certainly very wet outside, but it
looks more like the result of a long period of
drizzle. The BBC comes closer to reality at the
moment, and it presents a very simple forecast - light
rain almost all day, and the temperature starting at
10° C, rising to 12° C, and then cooling off again.
They do show heavy rain for 3pm, 6pm, and 7pm.
Meanwhile The Met Office seen to feel that all rain
today will be heavy rain, but it could be dry between
10am and midday. In the latest revision they have
simplified the temperature profile. They say it will
rise a single degree from 10° C to 11° C, and then
fall back to 10° C. Tomorrow may possibly be generally
dry, but there will be thick clouds and no sunshine at
all. The morning and evening will probably be several
degrees cooler than today, but the afternoon may be
the same 11° C.
I had another pleasant, and mostly lazy sort of day yesterday. After spending a few hours writing from the start of the morning I embarked on a long, but very easy job. It all started when I saw a picture of the new FAB 1, Lady Penelope's car from the Thunderbirds reboot (or massacre as far as I can see). The new car, instead of being a very elegant Rolls Royce, as befits an English lady, is some horrendous American monstrosity. I have a horrible feeling that all the "actors" will have broad American accents, and it will all be very horrible. Maybe it has already happened, and I have edited any memory of it out of my mind. There is more about this, plus boozing, badly sleeping, and great news this morning, all in my complete archive page for today. |

Yesterday didn't start with any noticeable mist, and so the weather forecast got off to a bad start. There was rain around mid to late morning, but I think it finished earlier than 11am. It was certainly not raining, and the roads were almost dry when I walked to the station just after midday. Yesterday afternoon is a tricky one to describe. The forecast said medium dark clouds, and there were many of them, but somehow it seemed quite bright in the early afternoon. As per the forecast, there was some heavy rain in the very late evening. The maximum temperature was supposed to be 13° C in the afternoon, but I thought it felt more like 15 or even 16° C for a while. I've seen two revision to
the forecast since taking the screenshot above. The
first changed early afternoon to dark clouds, and the
next changed them back to white coloured clouds. As I
write this the clouds are a very light grey - they
should be white. It seems likely that from midday to
4pm there will be rain. Whether it is heavy or light
rain, and whether it is from whit clouds or dark grey
clouds we will only know as it happens. The only
positive thing is that this afternoon should be a
slightly warm 15° C, although some light winds could
make it feel cooler. Tomorrow could be extremely dull,
and extremely wet, but it could still be 13° C.
Yesterday morning brought mixed blessings. The weather forecast seemed to be improving, and it looked to be, and indeed was a dry journey to and from the pub. The major bad bit was when I was showering. As I rinsed soap off me I accidently aimed the hot water from the shower head directly onto the graze just below my left knee. That stung - a lot !! The rest of my day was also sort of good and bad. It is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday started off very wet, and that made a tilted kerbstone slippery, but more on that later. It is hard to say when the rain stopped. Rain did seem quite rare in the afternoon, but there still seemed to be an occasional very light shower passing by for most of the afternoon. Like most recent days, the temperature was forecast to be just 9° C, but I think I might have noticed 10° C. I didn't see any mist at
7am, although maybe the air had a sort of soft
quality. The latest revision to the forecast has added
rain for 9am, but it still says it should be dry, but
still very dull, from midday. One significant change
to recent days is that the afternoon temperature could
be a several degrees higher at 13° C. Tomorrow may see
15° C, and there could be some sunshine, and maybe
some sunny spells between heavy showers in the
afternoon.
Yesterday was a busy day by comparison with the previous 7 or more days. It all started with a shopping trip to Tesco, and ended with some useful housework done - including some hoovering ! I didn't think the morning rain would end, and so I walked to Tesco in the rain, and that had some unexpected consequences. All is described, with a couple of pictures, in my complete archived page for today which also describes my night, and the start of this morning. |

Yesterday was definitely a cool/cold day with the temperature only reaching 9° C. However it started with some nice sunshine, and unlike what the forecast predicted, there were sunny spells for most of the day. It was a day that I could have made use of if only I had known how bright most of it as, but there were also non weather related reasons for staying in all day. There would seem to be no
chance of sunny spells today, and worse than that is
that it seems it is going to be a wet day. Of course,
having said that, the forecast heavy rain for 8am, as
I wrote this, is not falling, and earlier it looked
more like drizzle. One change in the latest revision
is that the white cloud shown for 9am has changed to a
grey cloud. Also, 3pm is now shown as having light
rain like 4pm. With just an afternoon high of 9° C it
promises to be a fairly miserable sort of day.
Tomorrow may only be better because the afternoon
temperature may reach a nicer 13° C, but the afternoon
may still feature non stop light rain.
Yesterday was a day where at least I did one thing right - being very careful about my eating - but it was a day that I feel was ultimately wasted. The weather was mostly good, although a little cool, and I could have gone out for at least a short walk, or maybe a long rail journey, but I had the problem of being uncertain what my guts were up to. After eating two cans of lentil soup the day before I expected my guts to be very volatile - they weren't ! I have written quite a lot about yesterday, last night, and the start of this morning in my complete archived page for today. I seem to have made it sound slightly exciting, but it was generally boring. |

Yesterday started wet, and ended dry. The original forecast featured a lot of heavy rain from sunrise to 2pm, but to my eyes most of it was light rain, and I think it had mostly stopped before midday. However, there were a couple of brief light showers later in the afternoon. I can't recall seeing any sign of the sun yesterday, and it was a cool day with the temperature only reaching 9° C. Yesterday evening the BBC
were predicting that this morning might have been just
2° C, but this morning they said 3° C. It was 4° C,
and that was the Met Office's prediction. Both
forecasters agree that it should be, and is, a sunny
morning. Both say the sunshine will only last until
11am. The rest of the day will probably be a bit dull,
although the BBC predict a few more sunny spells near
sunset. It is going to be another cool day with the
temperature rising to no more than 9° C. Tomorrow will
be an all dull day with some rain for a lot of the day
(BBC) or just some showers in the middle of the day
(Met Office). Once again it will probably be no more
than 9° C. Maybe by Wednesday the temperature could
rise to a more respectable 15° C, but Wednesday, and
it seems most days for almost the next fortnight will
be wet days.
Yesterday was one of the better days recently. Apart from some washing up, and polishing beer glasses, I didn't really do anything, and I can't think of anything to describe until just after 3pm. That was when Jodie arrived for a beer tasting session. It was unusually good to see her so I could show off my recent beer purchases after not seeing her for a fortnight. All is more fully described in my complete archived page for today, and it includes my night, and the start of this morning. |

There were far more sunny spells than were forecast, and the day could have been good, but every time it looked nice enough to do something a great big black cloud would go sailing past the window, and all would be gloomy for a while. Fortunately it stayed dry (at least I think it did), and with a brief spell at 14° C it was mild, and if the sun was out, warm. It is the first day of
British Summer Time, and yet the weather seems to have
slipped back a month or two. There will be copious
rain until 1 or 2pm (the BBC say lighter rain, but
extending to 5pm), and the maximum temperature is
predicted to be 9° C. It will probably only be a
degree or two away from a frost early tomorrow
morning, but most of tomorrow should feature sunny
spells, and even non stop sunshine at time, but the
temperature may only be the same as today, 9° C.
I did not feel good yesterday, but it was not because my blood glucose was so high, although the two had the same reason. It felt like all the fried chicken I had gorged on, maybe aided with some of the pizza I ate, had set solid inside me. It didn't feel like constipation, but it did feel like there was a heavy mass further up the digestive tract. Maybe there was, but without a handy Xray machine, or CT scanner there was no way of knowing. Fortunately things improved, and my day, although mostly boring, was comfortable. It is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

It is possible the enigmatic icons used in yesterday's weather forecast actually showed what the weather was like. That symbol of a bright sun, a white cloud and drops of rain just says "rain (day)". Maybe it should say sunny with passing showers, but I guess there is no room for all those words, but yesterday that was exactly what the weather was like. There were a few daylight hours when the sun didn't shine, but most of the day featured sunny, and rainy spells. Sometimes you wanted to go and frolic in the sunshine, and at other times you were glad to be undercover. It was a slightly mild day with the afternoon reaching about 13° C for an hour or two. We seem to be having a sunny
spell right now - a full hour before the first
predicted according to the latest revision of the
forecast. That latest revision now shows an all dry
day, and shows 2pm of having sunny spells. The
temperature could reach 14° C for a brief time this
afternoon. It seems it will be all change tomorrow. It
is currently forecast to be a wet day, albeit only
light rain, and a cold day with the temperature only
reaching 8 or 9° C. Not a single glimpse of the sun is
expected, but like the forecast for today, the weather
seems to be in a state of flux where the forecast
changes by the hour.
I felt mostly bored and depressed yesterday. Much of it was the conflict of the weather. As I described above, when it was good it seemed to tempt me to go out, but as little as half an hour later rain would fall again, sometimes while the sun was still shining. I expect there were a rainbow or two, but I didn't want to go out even to check on that while the rain was falling, and sometimes there could be short bursts of quite heavy rain. I did manage to do a few things indoors, but the day ended on a disaster. It is all explained in my complete archive page for today, last night, and the start of this morning. |

A lot of yesterday morning, and a few hours of yesterday afternoon were reasonably bright with sunshine or sunny spells, but just after 2pm reality started to catch up with the forecast. The forecast said heavy rain at 2pm, but it was maybe 15 minutes before the rain started, and it was only medium heavy. From then on there were light showers, but it didn't seem like the rain was non stop as the forecast seemed to suggest. The afternoon temperature reached 13° C, but the rain cooled it off a bit. The current weather matches
the latest revision to the forecast. That says full
sunshine for 8 and 9am, and it was full sunshine until
I typed 9am, and then a small cloud must have obscured
the sun, but it is sunny again. If this latest
revision to the forecast has any credence then it will
start to rain by 10am. The Met Office says heavy rain,
and some lighter rain, until 5pm. The BBC weather
forecast almost agrees with this, but they say mostly
light rain, and says it will finish an hour later at
6pm. Both agree that the temperature will peak at 13°
C for a few hours. Tomorrow may be similar to today,
but the 13° C peak temperature will be later in the
afternoon.
After my bad sleep the night before, I did feel sort of tired yesterday. After I finished writing I spent close to the rest of yesterday morning laying on my bed reading and snoozing. I can't remember what spurred me on to have a shower, and start to get things ready. It could have been Michael sending a text message asking if I wanted some bottles of Diet Coke while he was out shopping in his car, or it could have been Jodie phoning me to call in sick. She had a bad case of bunged up nose and stuff, and thought it better if she didn't come over for some beers. The story continues....in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday's weather was rather disappointing. It seemed like that the afternoon would be fairly sunny, but the sunny spells only lasted until almost 2pm, and the rest of the day was dull. The morning had started off dull and wet ! Apart from some light wind that still added some wind chill, it was a mild day, but I am not sure if there was a peak of 15° C in the afternoon, or if it was 14° C. It is nice and sunny as I
write this, but the early versions of the forecast say
it won't last long. The BBC forecast says 9am will see
the last sunny spells, but the Met Office are sticking
to their prediction of black clouds and heavy rain for
9am. The BBC says light rain for the rest of the day
starting at 10am. The Met Office say heavy rain for
most of the day, and their latest revision hasn't
really changed what is shown in the early screenshot
above. Both forecasters agree that that this
afternoon, or some of it, will be 13° C. Tomorrow may
start sunny again, but both forecasters say it will be
bright with light rain for the rest of the day. The
temperature will probably be 12° C, but as usual, many
changes could be made to the forecasts in the next 24
hours.
Yesterday was another day that was typical in that it was both good and bad in variable proportions. The worst happened just after midnight this morning, but more about that later. Being a Wednesday the highlight of the day was a visit to The Jolly Farmers for a couple of pints of Guinness, the Metro crosswords, and some banter, but it was not a great highlight. To find out why you'll have to read my complete archived page for today. It also has some commentary about last night and this morning. |

Contrary to any weather forecasts, much of yesterday was rather nice - large areas of blue sky, and sunshine or sunny spells. The morning was not so good. It was generally quite dull, and there was some light rain, however, right in the middle of it, at 9.20am, we had a brief taste of what was to come. A huge gap in the clouds passed showing blue sky and some nice sunshine. It didn't last long, and it was probably a little after 11am when the sun next came out, and stayed out for long periods of time. I don't think that for all the unexpected sunshine the afternoon temperature went above the forecast 14° C. There is some hope that
today could be as good as yesterday. The forecast from
both the BBC and Met Office keeps changing. I can't
say what the latest changes are because my internet
has just failed, but it seemed that more sunshine, and
less rain had been shown....or was that wishful
thinking. The early version of the forecast, as shown
above, says this afternoon the temperature should
briefly reach 15° C, That should feel very nice in any
sunshine. Tomorrow could see the return to cloudy and
damp, but the temperature may only be a degree or two
less.
Yesterday started bad, but became good, got bad, became tense, got very good, and ultimately ended on a sort of disappointment. The bad start was just the grey and wet weather. Other than that, everything was fine. The first, unexpected, sunny spells was obviously good, but it didn't last long, and it was lightly spitting with rain when I went out to get some shopping. Don't worry if all that sounds confusing. It is all explained in my complete archive page for today, and which includes stuff about my night and the start of this morning. |

Yesterday continued the trend for crap weather. Some of yesterday featured light coloured clouds, but a smaller part featured thick dark clouds. There were a few splashes of light rain during the day, but most of the day as dry. I don't think I can recall a single burst of sunshine. The only good thing (for some levels of good) was that the afternoon temperature seemed to reach 13° C - a whole degree higher than forecast. Although no rain was
forecast, it looks very damp outside as I write this.
It could have been left by rain in the small hours of
the night. The latest revision to the forecast
shows only light cloud. 2pm is now shown using that
odd icon of the rain drop in front of a white cloud in
front of a shining sun. I really must remember to look
out the window at 2pm to see what it actually means.
It seems the cloud will break up later to give full
sunshine as the sun sets at 6pm. This afternoon could
be close to warm at 14° C. The forecast for tomorrow
is almost a clone of today except at this time it is
shown as starting with rain until 8am. It currently
shows a single hour of sunny spells at midday, and
white cloud at other times (after the darker rain
clouds in the morning). Once again the temperature
should reach 14° C.
Yesterday was an eventful day, although the main event was not nice, although perversely actually good. Other than that, the day was fairly boring, but there were highlights among the boring parts. It was also a day where I seemed to feel very hungry, and ended up eating more than I should have. I had better explain all this in my complete archived page for today that contains commentary on my day, night, and the start of this morning. |

The weather seems to have got stuck in a rut lately - all grey days sometimes with, and sometimes without rain, but with little to no sunshine. Such was yesterday - apart from a brief sunny spell soon after sunrise, the day was either dull or duller, but it was dry. The temperature in the afternoon was around 11° C. There is supposed to be
light cloud at the moment, but I still need full
lighting indoors to see what I am doing ! Personally I
think we are there already, but officially, from 9am
it will get darker with dirty grey clouds filling the
sky, and from time to time they will rain. The times
for rain are boldly predicted in the forecast but I
bet they are more random. In an effort to try and find
some positives I can say that this morning has started
off mild at 9° C, and his afternoon will be 12° C -
which seems almost the standard temperature for this
month. Having said that, it seems tomorrow may each
14° C. It should be a fairly bright day, and there
could even be sunny spells at 3pm (or other random
time). There may also be a couple of light showers,
but I expect the forecast may change a lot by the time
tomorrow arrives.
I finished writing yesterday with a sort of cliff hanger - would Jodie come over in the afternoon for some beers, or not. It turned out the answer was not. It made yesterday a very much blander day, and also a boring day. The only thing I did of note was to hand wash two pairs of lounge pants and a single pair of underpants. While writing I did think of a few other things I did, and these. along with some general commentary on the day, night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 19th March 2023 |
08:55 GMT
Yesterday's weather was quite depressing, although not quite as bad as forecast. By my reckoning there was less rain that forecast. However there was less sunshine than forecast, but there wasn't much to start with. At 12° C it was fairly mild, and probably appropriate for this time of year. I barely saw the sunny spell
forecast for 8am. I think it started a bit before 8am,
and finished a few minutes after 8am ! Today could be
dry, and the latest revision to the forecast shows
more light coloured cloud than in the screenshot
above. Even the BBC forecast, which is often more
optimistic, says no chance of any more sunshine today,
but they do say it could be 12° C this afternoon, a
whole degree higher than the Met Office
predicts. At the moment there seems to be very
little rain forecast for tomorrow, except in the late
evening, but the clouds are still shown as medium dark
grey. By contrast the BBC reckon that there will be
some light rain, and a lot of drizzle for almost the
whole of tomorrow. Both agree that tomorrow afternoon
will be 12° C.
I want to write off yesterday as being a boring and non productive day, but that is not really correct. I did two important things yesterday, and a couple of minor things unworthy of any description. One important thing was to go and spend rather a lot of money in Tesco. Maybe I should say much of yesterday was boring and unproductive, but the day did seem to pass effortlessly by. All I can describe is described in my complete archived page for today, and that includes the terrible sleep I had, and how I feel this morning - not that good ! |

Yesterday morning featured very dull skies, and rain, although it didn't start to about 9am, a couple of hours later than forecast. As per the forecast it did finish around 1pm. Another hour or so later we had the first sunny spell. The were several sunny spells in the afternoon, but sometimes with an hour between them, and even then they didn't last all that long. Like the last few days, the temperature seemed to rise a couple of degrees higher than forecast. Yesterday may have just touched 15° C for a short while. There may, or may not have been some rain in the evening. It was forecast, but the first rain I saw was when I peeped through the curtains at 1am this morning. Today's forecast could
almost have been the true forecast for yesterday, and
that is a good thing in so much as it is statistically
proved that tomorrow's weather is going to be the same
as today's. At the moment it is wet outside, and it
seems the rain re-started (after rain in the very
early hours) as early as 6am. Oddly enough it is
brightening up a bit now. I think there is zero chance
of seeing any sunshine until much later in the
afternoon, but it does seem less gloomy right now. The
latest revision to the forecast has the rain finally
stopping at 2pm, and the first sunny spell at 5pm. It
may not only be the first, but it might also be the
last for the day. Light rain is a possibility for 6pm
(just a 30% chance), and the rest of the day will be
lightly cloudy. Today's high will be around 12°C, and
that will be the same tomorrow, although tomorrow will
start a little cooler at around 8° C. Tomorrow may see
just light clouds, and the sun may break through to
give some sunny spells in the morning, and late
afternoon.
As expected, I didn't go out yesterday, and I did very little, but very little is not the same as nothing. It took me a bit of time, doing it in three shifts, and no finishing until late afternoon, but I did hand wash 2 towels yesterday. One was a large hand towel, and one was a medium/small bath towel. Both needed a fair bit of energy to wring out, and as is always the case with towels, they needed something like 8 rinses before the water was running almost clear. The rest of my day was similarly unexciting, except for the beer. You can read about that, and it's amazing strength, plus other stuff yesterday, during the night, and the start of this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

The forecasters may not have predicted it, but yesterday was quite sunny (as sunny spells). The first sunny spell was maybe 10.30am, and was fairly brief. By 11am the sunny spells were getting longer, and more often. They probably finished around 4pm, or maybe a bit later. By 1pm the temperature peaked at about 15° C (although one of my thermometers, which may have seen some reflected or direct heat from the sun, did say 17° C for a while !). Rain was, and then wasn't forecast for the evening, and I think that I did see evidence of a small splash of rain late in the evening. I think the first light rain
fell later than shown in the screenshot above. It
might have been 8am, but it doesn't seem to have been
heavy rain. The latest revision agrees that the last
rain should fall at 1pm. It still shows sunny spells
for some of this afternoon. The maximum temperature
may be just 13° C. Tomorrow's temperature could be
just 12° C (although that is still pretty good
compared to earlier in the month. The current forecast
shows the afternoon being bright, but with light rain.
The morning and evening may be quite dull.
I had quite a good day yesterday. The morning was not terribly exciting, although the start of the sunny spells was very uplifting. On a different day I might have been a bit irked that the trains were on strike. It could otherwise have been a pleasant time for a ride on a train, but I had better distractions in the afternoon. Such distractions as getting drunk with good company. It is mostly all described in my complete archive page for today together with how I slept, and how I felt this morning. |

My prediction for a lot of yesterday's weather turned out to be closer than the early official forecast from the Met Office, but not much better than the BBC's forecast. Part of my prediction was based on the idea that the clouds were thin and lumpy with blue areas visible. It turned out that the morning sunshine, or sunny spells lasted several hours after then Met Office prediction, and even at just gone 2pm you could see the disc of the sun trying to shine through the clouds. Later in the evening the clouds thickened enough for some rain. The afternoon temperature probably was a couple of degrees higher than forecast - I reckon about 10° C, but occasional cold winds made it feel colder. This BBC predict a sunny
afternoon, and 13° C. The Met Office are a lot more
pessimistic and say only light cloud this afternoon
with the temperature only reaching 12° C. At the
moment the clouds seem thick and dark, but I can see
some lighter areas, and the idea of a brief sunny
spells before this afternoon doesn't seem too far
fetched. The latest revision has removed the rain
shown for tonight in the screenshot above, and it
should stay dry. Tomorrow will start very wet, but
there could be sunny spells from mid afternoon, and
the temperature could reach 13 or even 14° C.
Yesterday was one of those days that made me feel mostly happy, but which didn't end well. Naturally the morning, and very early afternoon sunshine was a great boost, but there was better to come. Despite starting to write a lot earlier yesterday, I seemed to get off to a slow start yesterday. It was gone 11am before I had a shave, washed my hair, and had a shower. My day, night and this morning are described, with several pictures, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday started with a few light showers, and maybe a slightly heavier one. I think they probably finished by 10am, and then the clouds started to dissipate. An hour or so later much of the sky was blue, and we had almost continuous sunshine until almost 4pm. Even after 4pm the day still seemed fairly bright. It stayed fry in the evening as the temperature slowly fell from a high of 8° C down to 5° C or maybe less. This morning there was a
frost ! It was because of clear skies overnight, and
that also meant there was loads of sunshine, but the
forecast only says sunny spells, and that they will
finish after 10am - however, although the sky
looks a bit misty there are still patches of blue, and
I can't see any proper clouds. Maybe the
sunshine/sunny spells will last longer - just like
yesterday. It is forecast to be a cold day with a
maximum temperature of only 7° C. Tonight will
probably see rain, but the thick clouds will keep the
temperature from falling too far. In fact it would
seem the temperature will rise in the night, and
tomorrow is forecast to start (at 6am) at 9° C. No
sunshine is forecast for tomorrow, but the afternoon
temperature could rise to 13° C. Tomorrow evening
could see showers again. It would seem that everyday
until almost the end up the month should see an
afternoon temperature of 10° C or over. Perhaps it
really is spring, but very little sunshine appears in
the forecasts for the rest of the month.
Yesterday could be described as another wasted day. I didn't seem to do anything of great significance as I waited for my Amazon delivery. It arrived just after 3pm, and that was earlier than expected, and could have caught me out if I had decided to go out for a walk or shopping, or something. Despite doing very little of note yesterday, I seemed to have still written a full page about yesterday, last night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

Only one thing about yesterday's weather was notably good. From late morning it seemed warm enough to open the bathroom windows again. It was another day when a lot of electricity was saved by not needing any heating for a lot of the day. Unfortunately it was mostly a dull day. At times it even looked dull enough for rain, but I don't recall any rain falling. There were a few sunny spells in the morning, but the couple of other times faorecast didn't not materialise. The early afternoon temperature reached 14° C. 20230314.html
This morning is rather dull,
and there has already been one light shower, and maybe
that shower continues ! The latest revision to the
forecast shows the sky brightening from 11am, and
further rain for the day has been removed from the
forecast. There could be a few hours with sunny spells
this afternoon, but I suspect they depend on gaps in
the clouds being in the right place at the right time,
and are impossible to forecast with any accuracy. The
temperature forecast is usually right, and this
afternoon may only reach 8° C, and not the 9° C shown
in the early version of the forecast (above). Tomorrow
morning may only be a degree or so away from a frost,
but it will warm up to a cool 8° C. There may be a few
sunny spells tomorrow morning, but much of the day
will be dull, and there is a 50% of light rain from
about 5pm.
Waiting for another Amazon delivery again set the pace for yesterday. It didn't arrive until just after 6.30pm, and so I could have been free to go out if the weather was more enticing than it was, and if I had any sort of confidence as to when the parcel would arrive - "before 9pm" is not terribly helpful. Midday is "before 9pm" ! Later updates slowly narrowed the delivery time down, but the first was something like between 2.30pm and 8.30pm. The last estimate I saw had narrowed it down to a 2 hour slot, and it arrived just before that two hour slot ended. The rest of my day, night, and this morning is described in my complete archived page for today. |

Once again the weather forecast for yesterday was ridiculously pessimistic. The reality was that until mid afternoon it was a bright sunny day with the temperature reaching 15° C. After mid afternoon, say 3 or 4pm, we lost the nice sunshine, but it stayed bright, and didn't cool down too much. Some of the forecast rain fell in the evening, but I can't recall noticing any heavy rain, and while I only rarely peaked behind the curtains, I suspect that the rain was no more than an occasional light shower. The temperature was still
12.5° C at midnight, and this morning it is very mild,
but the road does look rather damp. The latest
revision to the forecast only shows sunny spells for
10am, 1pm, and 4pm, but the clouds are very mixed at
the moment, and we have already had a couple of short
sunny spells. The cloud is that "lumpy" sort of cloud
that can be thick in places, but does have small gaps
where the sun can shine through for short periods. I
guess that makes forecasting the real weather
correctly almost impossible. The one almost definite
positive is 14° C for a few hours from midday. By late
tonight there could be heavy rain, but more likely is
the temperature dropping to 10° C - which still isn't
all that bad. By tomorrow morning it could have
dropped to just 4° C which is bad. Lots of sunny
spells in the early afternoon may warm the day up to
just 8° C.
Yesterday was one of those days that could have been a lot better. The bright start was a positive thing, but the drag of a dangerously high blood glucose level was quite negative. I guess the whole day was ups and downs. It seemed to take a long time before I washed and dressed, ready to go out. I had some very specific shopping in mind. The weather for yesterday was no help at all. It was completely wrong! By 8am the clouds were thin enough to let some watery sunshine through. In another hour or so the clouds started to break up, and full sunshine came through. There was almost non stop sunshine until about 4pm - when the forecast said no sunshine at all. The sunshine raised the temperature above the 7° C (and that only for a single hour) forecast to 10° C, and it was that from about 2pm until after sunset. I think the forecast for rain very late at night may have been right. This morning has certainly
started sunny, but the cloud does appear to be almost
covering the whole sky now, and maybe we are about to
lose the sunshine for the rest of the day. On the
other hand, looking to the north, away from the glare
of the sun, the clouds do look quite thin, and I can
see lots of ale blue areas. Maybe we'll have sunny
spells, or intervals, for longer than the forecast
predicts. The best thing is that the afternoon
temperature could each 13° C. With a bit of sunshine
that could feel very nice. Sadly it looks as if it
will all come to a wet end starting around 6pm.
Tomorrow could start as high as 12° C, and rise to 14°
C. There could be some sunny spells at the same time
as the highest temperature, and compared to what we
have been enduring that could feel hot ! Once again,
tomorrow evening could see some light rain.
I think I could best describe yesterday as annoying. It was set to be a miserable day, but all the unexpected sunshine was so cheering. If I had known that the middle of the day was going to be sunny, and slightly warm (or as warm as 10° C can be), the day could have been very different, but I played it safe, and kept myself warm - which was easy to do with glorious sunshine pouring through my bedroom windows. It is all described, along with what I can remember of my sleep, plus the start of this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was cold, cold, and colder ! To set the whole grim status of the day there was rain until mid morning. By 1pm the temperature had fallen and then risen, both by just a couple of degrees. The afternoon temperature was in the region of 4° C. From 7pm it started to fall again, and by midnight it was down to 2° C. There was no sunshine yesterday ! At 6am the temperature
seemed to be 0.2° C. but by 8am it had risen to 2° C
according to my thermometers. As I write this it is
quite bright. The sun is shining through thin clouds,
and producing a thin watery sunshine that appears to
carry no heat. The light clouds should continue until
4pm. By 5pm the chances of rain will have risen from
10% to 50% and rain is almost certain. It will
probably be just light rain, and will continue to
midnight. At 3pm the temperature could peak as high as
7° C, but then will slowly fall, but not by much. By
2am tomorrow morning he temperature should start to
rise again. By 3pm tomorrow it could be a rather
marvellous (compared to recent days) 13° C ! Much of
tomorrow should feature light coloured clouds, and the
morning may even have some sunny spells. The taps get
turned on again tomorrow evening when dark clouds will
bring rain again, but the temperature may only dip to
11° C during the night, and Monday may see 13° C
again, but it may involve showers of light rain.
Yesterday had it's moments, but overall it was not a great day. The worst thing was that it was one of those days that seemed cold no matter what I did. The only time I felt really warm was after feeling really cold ! It could have been fortunate that it had stopped raining by the time I had finished writing yesterday morning. By the time I had showered, and was ready to go out it had even started to dry out. The narrative on my day, night, and this morning continues on my complete archived page for today. |

The weather didn't quite follow yesterday's weather forecast. There was certainly rain in the morning, but hardly any of could be described as heavy rain. The forecast for fog or mist early in the afternoon was, as expected, completely wrong. A lot of the afternoon was actually dry, and although there was no sign of the sun, it was often fairly bright. After a cold start the temperature slowly climbed to 10° C, and it seemed to stay that hight into the early hours of this morning. It is currently about 5° C,
but starting to fall, and it is raining. Only light
rain is forecast, but it seems heavier than some of
the heavier rain forecast for yesterday. There maybe
little to no rain after 11am this morning, and it may
slightly brighten up, but the temperature is going to
slowly fall to 2° C by the end of the day. We might
see a few sunny spells tomorrow morning, and the rest
of the day could feature bright clouds. Tomorrow may
start at -1° C, and it will only warm up to about 7° C
in the middle of the afternoon. The day after
tomorrow, Sunday, could see a marvellous 14° C if we
are really lucky !
In the grand scheme of things, yesterday was at least a satisfactory day - mostly. There were a few disappointments, and one of them was part of one of the two good things yesterday. I went shopping in Tesco late in he morning, and everything seemed fine. There was little rain, and the walk seemed pleasant enough, but when I got home I realised I had forgotten to buy a few things that were part of the reason I went there in the first place......the story continues, and includes last night, and the start of this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday started with snow, and at it's peak there was probably almost an inch on anything that allowed it to settle without melting too fast. By 9am it had mostly melted. From then on it was just rain from a very grey sky, but not as much rain as forecast - there were periods of at least half an hour when on rain fell, and only light rain fell when heavy rain was forecast. It was not only a very gloomy day, but very cold with the temperature peaking at just 3° C. The heavy rain for this
morning seems closer to persistent drizzle, rather
than the stair rods of rain that forecast seems to
suggest (to me). One interesting thing is the fog and
mist shown for 2pm and 3pm. It seems unlikely for the
middle of the afternoon, but it has almost survived
one revision to the forecast. 2pm has now changed from
fog to drizzle, and 3pm has changed from mist to fog.
I guess it is possible as some obviously warm air is
heading our way. By the end of the afternoon the
temperature should rise to 10° C - warmer than we have
had for days now. Tomorrow may start at 7° C, and
heavy rain, but the temperature will fall to 3° C by
midday, and the rain may have stopped by then. The
afternoon should be brighter, but with no sign of the
sun, and the temperature slowly climbing to a high of
5° C by early evening.
I can only describe yesterday as being another mix of good and bad. I don't think I can call the snow as being particularly bad - particularly because it didn't hang around long, but did make the day seem brighter, and more interesting. The following rain, mostly more like drizzle by my reckoning, was not a nice feature, but going out in it was sort of like an adventure - which in a masochistic way was good. The rest of my day, night, and this morning is recorded in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was cold and grey, and wet - again ! There was probably a little less rain than the early forecast predicted, but much of it was very light rain that is not so obvious from indoors, and I might have missed some. It did brighten up a bit during the afternoon, but it was only the clouds changing from grey to white. There was still no evidence that the sun still existed. I think there might have been a light shower or two even from those white clouds. The afternoon temperature was forecast to be just 4° C, but I think it might have reached 6° C. It was still bloody cold though !! Yesterday's forecast for
today got things back to front. I woke up to snow
instead of going to bed while it was snowing. It
looked as if there was at least half an inch, and
possibly even an inch on cars outside, but almost no
snow settled on the road. The Met Office website seems
to have gone off the air, probably due to overload,
but the last revision I saw says the snow will have
turned to sleet by now, which seems about right, and
from 11am there will be heavy rain - possibly with a
bit of sleet mixed in because the afternoon
temperature may only be 3° C today ! Tomorrow may
reach 9° C, but once again it will rain for most of
the day.
I think I can describe yesterday as being a fairly good day. The big excitement was the anticipation of the delivery of my beer order. The actual delivery, and subsequent opening of the box was an anti-climax. That is not to say that there was anything wrong with what was in the box, it was all delicious, or should be, but it can't all be drunk in one glorious booze up. Such nice beers have to be cherished, and drunk slowly to appreciate them more....or something like that ! Yesterday was cold and grey, and wet ! It was also sunny, but only for 5 minutes in the morning. That sunny spell was not in the forecast, and that was not the only fault in the forecast. The forecast rather exaggerated the amount of rain. It did definitely rain, mostly in the afternoon, but I think it was more drizzle than any more, and a feel pretty sure I didn't see any heavy rain. It was another cold day, but not as cold as forecast. The temperature rose to nearly 10° C in the afternoon, but with no supporting sun, it felt more like 5° C. This morning is most
definitely very damp from prolonged light rain. Maybe
the afternoon will feature lighter clouds, and maybe
they won't leak. The BBC forecast says the rain will
continue until 4pm, and that there will be sunny
spells at 5pm. The BBC gives the most pessimistic
temperature forecast - just 3° C. The Met Office says
4° C. It makes little odds - both are highly
unpleasantly cold. Tomorrow things get worse - maybe.
The Met Office says tomorrow will start with light
coloured cloud until mid afternoon when the clouds
thicken. By 6pm it could start to rain, and by 7pm
that rain could turn to snow. By 8pm that snow could
turn to heavy snow ! Curiously enough, the BBC shows
sleet in the morning, and no rain, sleet or snow in
the evening. Both agree that the temperature will
start around 1° C, rise to 4 or 5° C in the afternoon,
and then quickly fall to 1° C again. It's like being
in the middle of winter again.
Yesterday was another day that had it's moments, but was basically dull and boring. I did hear from Kevin during the morning, and he confirmed he was still too ill to go out for a beer in the afternoon, or indeed any social interaction for at least the immediate future. I still have no idea what is wrong with him, but I do remember a month or two ago he said he had a cannula for intravenous anti biotics - which sounds pretty serious. What I did yesterday, last night, and at the start of this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was cold and grey. The afternoon temperature only reached 5° C, or a little less with wind chill. The forecast was just about
correct when it predicted 7am to be quite bright. The
sun was too low to do any more than light up the tops
of some buildings, but it was a dry hour. The latest
revision to the forecast only shows 11am and 7pm as
being dry. Every other hour is shown as wet - mostly
light rain, but 3pm could feature heavy rain. The
afternoon temperature could be 7° C, or 2° less cold
than yesterday, but even at 7° C it will still feel
like winter. There is a profound difference
between the BBC and Met Office forecasts for tomorrow.
The Met Office says the first half of the day will be
grey, and the second half a bit brighter, but both
halves should be dry after some very early morning
drizzle. There might even be some sunny spells at 5pm.
The BBC show a far more awful forecast that includes
rain for most of the day, and some of it may fall as
sleet. Both forecasters show an afternoon temperature
of just 4° C. Wednesday could be even colder at just
3° C, and may include snow in the morning.
Yesterday was another day that was both good and bad. Generally speaking the morning was good, and the afternoon bad, and the evening even worse ! One good thing for the whole of yesterday is that I didn't seem to ache as much as I did the day before. I can think of no obvious reason for this unless it is a viral thing like long covid, and maybe it is long covid. Whatever it is, it is not being improved by cold, grey, miserable days. I need hot sunshine ! The full description of my day, last night, and the start of this morning can be read in my complete archive page for today. Don't miss the picture of the green bus !! |

There was one bit of good weather yesterday. Despite what the forecast said, at approx 11am the sun came out for a glorious 4 or 5 minutes of bright sunshine. Apart from that it was a terrible day - dull and feeling really cold. The forecast temperature was 7° C, and I think it did reach that for a while, but wind chill made it feel a good few degrees cooler. Today will be the 3rd or 4th
(or more ?) cold and dull days. If the forecast holds
it will be a very grey day, and today looks to be the
coldest in this run of dull days. Just 5° C is
forecast - just 1° higher than the cold 4° C start,
and end of the day. There is a 10% chance of rain at
any time today. That makes rain possible, but
unlikely. Tomorrow sees a small change for the better.
Most of the day is forecast to have white, instead of
grey cloud, and the afternoon temperature could reach
a very slightly less cool 8° C. After that
things could get worse. There is a 70% chance of light
snow at 6am on Tuesday morning !
Some bits of yesterday were good, other bits less so. Quite a lot of the afternoon was simultaneously good and bad ! The best bit of the day was when I went to Tesco. It was probably because I had a specific goal that the walk there, and back, plus being inside the store, felt good, although maybe that is good in relative terms, rather than fully good. It is all described, along with a description of my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday's weather was just plain horrible ! Now admittedly there was a very brief sunny spell in the morning, but the other 99% of daylight consisted of cold grey light coming from cold grey clouds. The afternoon temperature reached just 7° C, and wind chill made it feel colder. A thoroughly horrible day ! Apart from probably zero
chance of a brief sunny spell this morning, today
looks like it will be like the forecast for yesterday
- cold grey light coming from cold grey clouds with a
cold air temperature of 7° C, and wind chill will make
even that feel colder. There is a 10% chance of rain
today, as there was yesterday. Yesterday stayed dry,
and today will probably stay dry, but there is
always that small chance for a shower. Tomorrow
continues the trend except for an afternoon
temperature of just 6° C - before wind chill. Next
Wednesday looks likely to feature sleet or snow, and
we will have to wait until next Saturday before it is
possible the temperature may reach double digits - a
possible 11° C.
There is not a lot to say about yesterday. The brief sunny spell in the morning was uplifting for a few tens of minutes, but after that my mood turned back to match the colour of the clouds. There was another brief uplifting moment - my latest gas bill arrived in the morning post. I owe the gas company just £100. That was less than I feared, but it does mean I am going to have to double my small(ish) monthly standing order to match the new price of gas. I still managed to write half a page about yesterday, last night, and this morning, and it can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

It was nice and bright and sunny for most of yesterday, and yet it was still very cold outside. Inside my south facing bedroom the sunshine got the room very comfortably warm. The temperature outside was supposed to rise to 9° C , but I think it might have been slightly under 8° C, and will chill made it feel even colder. Even the very latest
revision of today's forecast shows thick dark cloud
all day long, but we just had a brief sunny spell.
Like a couple of days ago, the clouds are thick, but
also clumpy, and between those clumps a very small
patch of blue can be seen. If one lines up with the
sun we have a sunny spell. Maybe the clouds will get
more homogeneous soon, or maybe they will break up a
bit more. Even the BBC forecast, which is often more
optimistic, agrees with the Met Office up to late
afternoon when the BBC predicts sunny spells for 5pm.
Both agree that today may be no more than 7° C, and
although the breeze may not be too strong today, there
will be enough for wind chill to make it feel no
better than 5° C today. Tomorrow may be just as cloudy
as today, but it is possible the temperature could be
1° higher.
Yesterday was good in so far as I didn't feel pissed off. The bright sunshine was really uplifting, and an afternoon beer tasting session was the cherry on the cake. Less good was my eating control - it seems that at time I had none, and I ate more than was good for me with particular regard to my blood glucose control. My day is described in full, or as full as can be, plus my night with it's dreams about Guinness, and the bad news this morning, and a four paragraph philosphical piece, in my complete archive page for today. |

Yesterday was cold, grey and miserable, and this time it was also damp. One anomaly was at 10.15 when the sun came out for about 35 seconds, and that was the last we saw of it yesterday. There had been rain sometime in the early morning, and at 2pm there was some very light rain - almost no more than a fine mist. The wind didn't seem to be very strong, and that meant that the afternoon temperature of 7° C merely felt cold, and not bloody chilly. This morning is bright and
sunny, and it was also very cold - about 2.5° C at
8am. That chilly temperature can be attributed to
clear skies. Those same clear skies are forecast to
give sunshine all day, and that might raise the
afternoon temperature to 9° C - which could feel warm
in direct sunshine if there is not too much wind.
Today's sunshine is just a one day special offer.
Tomorrow it's back to the gloomy skies, although the
temperature may still hit 9° C again.
Yesterday's very dull start could easily have been the cause of another depressing day, but at least I had a plan for yesterday, and at least the plan turned out to be very enjoyable even if the rest of the day featured some very negative things. Those negative things were mostly about eating, but my whole day, plus night, and the start of this morning is described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was cold, grey and miserable. There wasn't a hint of sunshine (apart from maybe a few seconds of brightness in the morning), and the temperature never went above 8° C. There was a fairly strong breeze, and the wind chill from that made it actually feel closer to 3° C. The ground is already wet
from some earlier rain that I don't think appeared in
earlier weather forecasts. The latest revision to the
forecast is adamant that the only rain will be at 2pm,
but with a 10% or even 20% chance of rain at other
hours, some drizzle would come as no surprise. The
wind today is not shown as being very strong, but
still strong enough to make the predicted high of 7° C
feel closer to 3 or 4° C. Tomorrow morning may start
at 3° C, but a sunny afternoon may raise the
temperature to 9° C.
The crappy weather yesterday soon had me feeling very miserable. I don't think I could have been more miserable if it were pouring with rain, or maybe I would because I did do one semi important thing yesterday. I went to get some shopping from Tesco. The description of yesterday, last night, and this morning, continues in my complete archived page for today. |
