Yesterday was quite warm, and quite
sunny. In fact it was like another summers
day. The temperature hit 23° C in the late
afternoon, but fell away a lot after dark.
It was quite a cool start this
morning with the temperature down to 14°
C, but it should warm up to 24 or 25° C
later this afternoon....although the
latest revision to the forecast has
reduced the hours of full sunshine. The
latest revision almost alternates between
sunshine and cloudy every hour. Only the
first half of tomorrow may be sunny, but
the temperature could still climb to a
possible 25° C.
Yesterday was another good
day, and it was also a very lazy day,
particularly in the morning. It was nice
to lay on my bed, with the sun streaming
through the window, quietly reading, and
even snoozing until midday. At midday, or
thereabouts, I panicked when I realised I
had to have a shower before I had guests
here later.
I also had to do a modicum of
tidying up, but that was mostly getting
the dining room table, and some glasses,
ready for a drinking/beer tasting session.
As usual, for most Thursday's, I was
joined by Michael and Jodie. A bit later
on we were joined by Patricia. Like last
time with Patricia, once the two great
gasbags, Michael and Patricia started
talking no one managed to get a word in
edgewise.
After Michael and Jodie left, at
approx 6.30pm, Patricia and I continued to
talk, although maybe it was a case of
Patricia talking, and me listening ! One
obvious topic was dinner. There was an
earlier plan that Patricia would be going
to Tesco to check their clothes section,
and to pick up something to eat. That
didn't happen, and with nothing in the
fridge to make a meal suitable for a
guest, I ended up ordering a takeaway.
I'm not sure if Patricia had ever
had a chicken shish kebab before, but she
seemed to enjoy it. Ordering for two meant
I didn't have to order extra for myself to
make it seem worthwhile getting it
delivered. I had a large chicken shish
kebab. The kebabs came for a restaurant I
have used many time, but last night I
don't think it was as good as usual. The
cucumber, which I always discard, looked
like it was rather old, and well past it's
best. The pickled chillies seems mildly
stale too.
Our dinner was delivered a few
minutes later than the upper deadline of
7.55pm. I guess we started dinner at
roughly 8pm, and after dinner we chatted
for a bit more until at approx 9pm we
headed to our beds. I could hear Patricia
having a loud phone call with her brother
(I think), and I caught up with some
things on my PC. Once I was properly
relaxed I checked my blood pressure.
Earlier in the evening I struggled to get
it down to a decent figure. I think I got
it down to something like 123/60. Once
fully relaxed my blood pressure fell right
down to 91/52. If I remember anything from
watching M*A*S*H it was that the patient
had gone critical, and was getting close
to death when their blood pressure dropped
that low, but if I catch it at the right
time, it is not an unusual figure for me.
Last night was a sort of awkward
night. After a warm day it was a bit too
warm to sleep under my duvet, but later
into the night, maybe midnight, or 1am, it
was almost too cool without the duvet. For
a few hours I slept with one arm and one
leg under the duvet. For the last few
hours of sleep I did sleep under the
duvet, but felt quite warm when I woke up.
I'm not sure it feels like it, but it does
seem (which is a different way of looking
at it) that I slept fairly well last
night.
This morning my two blood glucose
meters gave quite different readings. The
good thing was that a shish kebab for
dinner meant that my blood glucose had
dropped nicely from the slightly high
readings yesterday. The new meter gave a
very good 8.0mmol/l. The old meter gave a
very average 8.6mmol/l. One thing I
usually forget is to check my blood
pressure in the morning.....or maybe not
so much forget, but spend too long waiting
for a time when I feel relaxed enough.
This morning I didn't wait beyond checking
it after breakfast. The reading was a very
good 106/49.
There is only one thing that I
think will be happening today, and it is
lunch with Patricia in the local
Wetherspoons. It is possible we may be
joined by her sister - which could be very
boring once the two of them start yakking
away with each other in Spanish. It is the
rest of the afternoon that is mostly
unknown. I may well have a long snooze !
There are a few things I have to do this
morning, beyond having a shower, and the
most important is to wash up yesterday's
beer glasses plus a few more assorted
items of washing up.
