Yesterday's sunny spells lasted into
the afternoon. I'm not sure when the last
one was, but I am very sure it was a lot
later than the forecast predicted. With a
little extra sunshine it is possible the
temperature went a little higher than the
forecast 17° C, but I didn't think to check
it.
It is certainly bright and sunny as
I write this, and it should continue for
several hours before it gives way to sunny
spells. The last hour featuring sunny
spells is now shown to be 4pm in the
latest revision. That revision also
reduced the peak of 18° C to just 2 hours
instead of the three hours predicted in
the early forecast. No rain is expected
today, and even the BBC have decided not
to throw in a random thunderstorm, but
they do say the sunny spells could last
until 6pm. Tomorrow could be like today,
but backwards - the full sunshine in the
late afternoon, and sunny spells in the
morning. It is possible the temperature
could reach 20° C tomorrow.
I had some delusions that I
might go out for a walk in the sunny
spells yesterday, but then reality caught
up with me. I needed no excuse not to go
out because I found I was expecting the
delivery of part of an Amazon order
yesterday. It was being delivered by Evri
(Hermes), and as far as I can remember,
they usually deliver in the morning, or
early afternoon.
It was the perfect excuse to stay
in and do nothing, or at least very
little. I did get in a nice shower before
I realised I would be going nowhere, and
very
unlikely to get any visitors. I did have
one major task yesterday, and it was to
try not to think about what I have to do
today. Maybe I did that a little too well
because I can't seem to recall much about
yesterday. It is unusual that I can't even
remember what I had for lunch, but it
seems that I can't......err, yes I can.
The memory of yesterday's lunch
surfaced just as I was finishing the last
paragraph. It was a couple of sandwiches
made using Polish sourdough bread. Two
significant things about that bread is
that it is said to have no sugar in it,
and the slices are at least 2/3rd the size
of common sliced bread, and often nearer
than half size. I ate foure slices with
some sliced big, and non sweet tomato,
pre-sliced chicken and beef sausage, plus
a squirt of mayonnaise.
I guess I spent a lot of the
afternoon on the internet doing the
occasional download of assorted stuff. I
think I had a couple of attempts at a
snooze yesterday. I thought that my long
period of insomnia the night before would
make snoozing easy, but I don't think I
managed to snooze at all. Another thing I
didn't do, beyond snacking on a handful of
peanuts sometime in the afternoon, was any
other snacking.
I held out to dinner time before I
ate any more. As usual I had dinner while
watching Star Trek. This time it was Star
Trek: Deep Space Nine because my dinner
took a bit longer to cook than I had
anticipated. It was an unusual dinner for
me, but one I had some hopes for it being
kind to my blood glucose level. It was
basically sausage and chips, but I ate the
sausages first because they were getting
cold, and I couldn't cook them alongside
the chips in my mini oven/grill. I was
unusually restrained about the amount of
chips I cooked. It would probably be
called a child's portion in a chip shop.
I was in bed by 9pm, and I think I
was asleep by 9.30pm. Even if I couldn't
snooze during the day, I seemed to have no
problem getting to sleep last night. I
only had maybe two very short periods of
insomnia last night, and one was because I
spent some time thinking about a dream I
had. I can't think of any trigger in real
life, or even in memories for the subject
of my dream.
What I remember of the dream
doesn't explain why what was going on was
happening. I only remember what I saw, and
it was like watching something, and not
participating in it. It was about a
filming technique that was part comedy,
and part something else. It was to make a
simple shot look very busy. The film
camera was on a dolly (I think that is
what they call it) running on tracks to
keep the motion smooth. It would pass one
or two actors, and once they were out of
view they would run behind the camera to
get back into view as the camera continued
to slowly move along (think of it going
down a road with the actors on the
pavement).
In the few seconds the actors were
behind the camera they might grab a
different coat, or put on a hat, or some
other very quick disguise. In one case one
of the actors quickly put on a smock, and
a bonnet to give the impression he was a
woman., but in this one instance there was
a close up on his face, and it turned out
to be a leering Sid James (of Carry On
Films fame). I woke up during this dream
for no apparent reason, and then spent a
while thinking about it, and in particular
how it could be done using digital video
and editing. My final conclusion is that
with modern multi layer video editing all
the different appearances of the actors
could be shown all at once giving a sort
of crowd scene with just a few actors
appearing multiple times in the same
scene.
After getting up, a bit later than
usual, I would soon find the truth about
my eating choices yesterday. It seems I
managed to eat quite sensibly if my blood
glucose readings are anything to go by. I
used my new improved method of fresh blood
squeezed out the same finger prick for
each test strip. The new meter read a very
good 7.5mmol/l. The old meter read an even
better 7.3mmol/l, but sadly the oldest
meter, which got the last blood to check,
read 8.0mmol/l. That too is a very good
reading, but not as good as a reading in
the sevens.
There is just one major thing on my
agenda for today, and it is to attend
Angela's blood wedding. I can't say I am
looking forward to it one little bit, but
I will do my duty and try and get some
good photos of it. I have never been to a
Registry Office wedding before, and I have
no idea how it all proceeds (I can barely
remember the one church wedding I went to
in the 1980s). I guess I'll just blunder
along, and hope for the best.
In a way, I hope no one tries to
talk to me (beyond a brief hello) because
I don't want to be pushed into going to
the reception even if it is going to be as
much gig as it is party. My own plan is
that I come back from the Registry Office,
have a light lunch, and then spend the
afternoon "processing" the pictures I have
taken - mostly selecting the best, and
then possibly cropping and resizing them.
I may also correct the exposure, and
possibly correct the colour temperature (I
have no idea what sort of lighting there
will be when inside the Registry Office).
Than I might have an early night, and try
and forget the whole day.
