I
have yet to see the mist
that both the BBC
(screenshot above) and Met
Office forecast for this
morning, unless they mean
the very slight haze. I
guess visibility is down to
under 10 miles at the
moment. Until late tonight
(10pm) it should be a dry
day, and late afternoon
should see some sunny
spells, but most of the day
will be a nasty dull grey.
At least the afternoon
temperature will be an
improvement over recent
days. 17° C is predicted.
Tomorrow may be even warmer,
maybe even just about warm -
19° C is predicted. It seems
the BBC have thrown every
weather icon they have at
tomorrow's forecast. It
shows mist, drizzle, light
rain, heavy rain,
thunderstorms and some sunny
spells. I think that
tomorrow there may be a
revised weather forecast
that seems less random.
Yesterday saw
the end of a day or two of
constipation, although even
the end was not exactly
pleasant. The rest of the
day was OK, but hardly
exciting. It was most
definitely a day to stay in,
and find odd jobs to, or
just to be generally lazy.
The latter was my main
choice.
As I noted yesterday,
by the time I had finished
writing I had been to the
toilet, and had a poo 5
times. That did leave me
feeling slightly sore, and
that was a good enough
excuse, when any, even a
very minor excuse, was
enough to make me spent
almost the remainder of the
morning laying on my bed -
mostly reading, but I did
try closing my eyes for a
bit. I guess I must have
slept OK the night before
because
I don't think
I had a snooze.
Just after
midday I had the first of
two lunches....or maybe one
was just a snack. One of
them involved a rather nasty
(maybe because it was cold)
steak slice, and a small
packet of crisps, and a
similar amount of crisps
from a much bigger bag.
Lunch part two, or a mid
afternoon snack, was more
crisps used to scoop up a
little tub of cream cheese.
I could have passed
some of the afternoon
editing more pictures of
Underground/tube train, but
I have sort of got bored
with that. However I did
spend some time looking
through scans of my old film
negatives. I was supposed to
be assessing what sort of
quality of tube train
pictures I had taken, but
the whole thing was a mild
nostalgia sort of thing. As
for the tube train picture:
Most of the pictures I took
on my film camera were not
really good enough quality
to use.
One problem with
those old film pictures is
that I only ever had two
lenses. One was a "standard"
general purpose lens, and
the other was a medium
telephoto lens. With trains
being fairly big things, I
could have done with a wider
angle lens to get a lot more
of the train in the
frame.....unless I thought
close ups of the front or
side of a train were good
shots at the time. If so I
bitterly regret it now. Hey
ho......
When dinnertime came
around I did make more
effort to be careful about
what I ate - with particular
regard to sugar and calorie
content. My main course was,
as pictured above, an Aldi
Teriyaki noodles - part of
the slender of choice,
"Protein" range. 8.5gm of
sugar seemed slightly high,
and maybe even more than
slightly considering how
small this portion
was. 310 calories was
quite good though, or would
be if I could have in any
way thought of it as a
complete meal.
I still felt rather
hollow after those nasty
tasting noodles, and so I
topped up with two apples
and a chunk of cheese. One
apple was a quite tasty Jazz
apple, and the other apple
was a golden apple (not
golden delicious because it
was not grown in France, and
was quite flavourful). The
cheese was Double
Gloucestershire.
I don't know why I
never quite believe, until I
have tried again, that two
apples and a chunk of cheese
can be so tasty, and
satisfying. Those in the
picture above seemed to
completely satify the
feeling of hollowness I had
in my stomach after those
Teriyaki Noodles.
Talking of pictures
of food: One thing I have
been thinking about for some
time is how to
explain/describe the small
quantities of peanuts I now
consume compared to the
gluttonous amounts I used to
shovel down 20 (?) or more
years ago. I have never
weighted the amount before,
but yesterday I remembered I
had the perfect thing tucked
away in a drawer - a pair of
kitchen scales which have
the useful thing of being
able to be set to zero after
an empty container is put on
them. I did that with a the
glass (which once had a
candle in it) that I use to
eat a small amount of
peanuts from.
In the picture the
scales are showing that I
had added 38gm of peanuts to
the glass. (The glass itself
weighs 138gm). Now I know
roughly how much I pour out
of a bigger bag, I can say
that if they were all the
same amounts (which isn't
the case, but most are
similar) I can get just over
5 servings for a small 200gm
bag sold by Aldi. In future
I may try and only put 30gm
in the glass, and try to
train myself to eat less in
the future, although I may
still do this more than once
in a day - depending on
whether it is a good or bad,
hot or cold, boring or
exciting, day.
Once again I
finished my day by watching
QI on Dave. That finished at
9pm, and I went straight to
bed to read while I warmed
the bed up. I did have the
heater off for a while
before going to bed, but it
was obvious I would be
putting it back on before
long. I think I managed to
sleep for one or two hours
before turning the heater on
low again.
I did manage to fall
asleep fairly easily last
night. I had only the merest
twinge of indigestion, but
my guts did feel a bit
"odd". I would say sore, but
that sounds worse than it
was. The problem was that
earlier in the evening the
laxative tablets I had taken
the night before decided to
kick in, in a big way. Much
to my annoyance was what
turned out to be a very wet
fart that needed a change of
underpants. That was
followed by two splattery
visits to the toilet.I
reckon that apart from what
I had just eaten, I was
pretty empty after that -
except for some gas !
I had one good dream
last night, although my
memory of it is like it has
been heavily edited. It
started with me in bed, and
unable to sleep. I got up
and went out for a walk. If
it had been as far as it
seemed to be, it would have
been a very long walk -
maybe 4 miles, and if the
dream had included a return
journey, about 8 miles in
total. I don't remember
having a particular
destination in mind, but I
set out in the direction of
Forest Hill.
It was like
there had been a big edit
that had chopped out a few
miles either side of Forest
Hill itself, and I was soon
outside Dulwich Telephone
exchange - and exchange I
knew well from my days
working for BT. I either had
the keys or the door was
open, and I went in. The
ground floor seemed empty,
but not so the second floor
(which doesn't exist in
reality). There were several
people working there for
some unknown reason.
I had not gone far
when I bumped in my manager.
At least I think it was my
manager, or at least a
manager. I recognised him,
but could not remember his
name. He asked what I was
doing there at that time of
night, and so I told him,
and also said that I would
often pop into any of the
local exchanges I knew
locally when passing, and
would fix any faults I
found. The manager said that
was a nice idea, but he
couldn't offer any overtime
for it unless it was a big
problem.
That dream sort of
faded out at that point. I
did have more dreams, and
one featured a nice looking
woman. The dream may have
been heading in an erotic
direction, but I just can't
seem to remember any more
about it. Maybe it was just
a cheap 2 second dream or
something.
The only other things
I can remember about my
sleep was getting up to pee
at least four times, but
each time, except the last,
easily getting back into a
deep sleep again. The last
time was too close to when I
would get up. I didn't feel
comfortable for the last 45
minutes, and was in positive
pain with cramp when I leapt
out of bed at almost 7am.
One I put weight on my legs
the cramp almost instantly
went away, and apart from a
medium strength desire to go
to the toilet, I sort of
felt fairly OK.
That last pee, after
getting up, but no poo after
the laxatives seemed to have
cleaned my out the day
before, was good enough to
show a nice drop of weight.
I had lost 500gm compared
the yesterday morning, and
that was rather pleasing, It
puts me back to almost where
I had got to the last time I
had a few days of weight
loss. If I am good (unlikely
on boring cold and grey
days) I could reach a weight
that is as low as the best I
have seen since my days of
loads of outdoor exercise
during lock down.
There was the thought
that all the seemingly extra
peeing was not a good sign
for my blood glucose this
morning, but two meters said
it was rather good. The
Contour meter read
7.9mmol/l. Admittedly that
only just skims under the
bar to be in the light green
zone. The GlucoRX meter was
a bit better with a reading
of 7.6mmol/l, and just 0.1
over my new/current target.
Once again the Sinocare
meter was the odd one out
with a reading of 8.6mmol/l,
but at least that is still
an acceptable figure.
As usual (mostly) my
blood pressure is very good.
My one and only reading
(because it was well good
enough without trying to get
it lower, was 100/48. That
is actually slightly less
than my typical morning
average, which this morning
stands at 103/47 for this
month.
I think I am going to
do something productive, and
yet foolhardy today. I want
to go to Poundstretcher. The
silly thing is that I don't
know why. I definitely
remember saying to Jodie
that I must go to
Poundstretcher soon because
I need....something, but
what that "something" is, is
now a complete mystery. The
chances are that I will
remember it when I see it.
If not, there is always
other stuff I can buy from
there - with the slight
problem is that somethings
could be edible, and not
good for my blood glucose
and/or weight. hey ho....
