My
Electronic Diary For October 2024 |
Thursday 31st October 2024 |
08:33
GMT
Different forecasts at different times said there might be some sunny spells in the middle of the day. I don't think I remember any, but yesterday was not that dull. Mostly the cloud cover was white. The temperature only reached 15° C, and maybe I am getting acclimatised to that now because I don't think I felt cold when outside (with a coat on). It should be misty
now, but it still seems to be clear outside,
although the clouds make it a bit dull. Today
will most probably be another day with no
sunshine, and the temperature will only rise
to the same as yesterday, 15° C, and hopefully
that will feel just about OK (although at the
moment I have had to have the heating in low
to stay warm). Tomorrow might, but probably
won't start with mist. It is going to be a
little cooler tomorrow. Just 14° C is
forecast, but there is a small possibility of
a few sunny spells in the mid to late
afternoon.
Yesterday must be recorded as one of the better days, although it did invoke my great paradox. More about that later. One thing I didn't do that I said I would, was to have a hot shave, but I did use my beard trimmer without the guard on it to shave well enough to look clean shaven if you don't look too carefully ! As usual, my day, with some pictures, plus my night and this morning are described in my complete archived page for today. |

GMT
Yesterday started damp after some (probable) light rain before sunrise, but the rest of the day was dry. It was sadly a rather dull day. The sun did break through the cloud mid morning, and we had a few short sunny spells, but after that it was just a grey day, albeit often light grey. The temperature managed to rise to about 15° C, but it still felt cold. Yesterday's forecast
for today said the day may start with sunny
spells, but the reality is that it is grey
morning, and the latest forecasts says it will
stay that way all day, a;though the Met Office
forecast still says there should be sunny
spells from 9am (now !) until 3pm. From the
look of the sky, which has the colour of dense
grey lino, that seems highly unlikely (but
fingers crossed !). The afternoon temperature
should reach 15° C, and with no supporting
sunshine it will probably feel quite chilly.
The very early hours of tomorrow may feature
mist, and by 6am it could be thick enough to
be called fog. It won't disperse until 10am
when we should have sunny spells until sunset.
The Met Office says no mist or fog, but does
admit to the last few hours of the morning
having sunny spells. From midday they say
thick, dark grey clouds for the rest of the
day. The temperature tomorrow could rise to
15° C, and if The met Office turns out to be
closer to reality, 16° C.
Yesterday was one of those days when not a lot happened, and the day ended badly. Once I had finished writing, and having a short rest, I did the most important job of the day - to finish washing a couple of t-shorts and some underpants that I had left soaking in detergent the day before. The rest of my day, my terrible night, and a fair morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was usually dull, although some times it was very dull, and it was often damp. No rainfall was shown on the forecast until 10pm, but there seemed to be fine drizzle for most of the afternoon. The temperature still rose to 16° C, but with no sunshine it meant I had the heating on, albeit just on low, for much of the day. This morning has
started off looking very wet, but it doesn't
seem to be raining now, and maybe not for a
few hours. The forecast shows the rest of the
day as being dry with just light cloud. It may
be just medium grey, but that cloud looks like
a complete blanket across the sky at the the
moment. Today should reach 15° C, and it looks
like I will be burning kilowatts of
electricity again. Tomorrow may start with
sunny spells, but the forecast says they will
finish at around 1pm, but it should stay dry
for the rest of the day. The temperature
should peak the same as today at 15° C.
I did not feel good yesterday, and I am not sure why. The symptoms were quite vague, but maybe a bit similar to something like an extremely mild 'flu. I know that Angela has been suffering from her cancer treatment, and as woo woo as it sounds, I can almost believe that most of my bad feelings were just long distance empathy with Angela. My whole day, such as it was, plus my night, with some recollections of dreams, and some notes about this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |

The a late October day, yesterday was really good. It was dry and sunny through all the daylight hours, and dry even after dark. It may have only reached 14° C, but the sunshine warmed up my front room to 22° C all by itself. Today will see no
sunshine according to the forecast, although a
little while ago there was some very weak
sunshine filtering through a crack in the
clouds. I cans see quite a lot of blue sky at
the moment, although it is mostly to the west,
and the sun is in the east where there is
more, but still well broken cloud. We could
have more sunshine yet ! By midday the clouds
are predicted to be much thicker and darker,
but by then the temperature should reach 16°
C, although that is poor compensation for no
sunshine. Tomorrow may also reach 16° C, and
there may even bee some sunny spells in the
afternoon. Before and after that the cloud is
currently predicted to be fairly light, and so
it should not be too gloomy.
Yesterday was another of those semi good days - not actually good enough to be called good, but not bad enough to be called bad. In fact I don't think anything negative happened except I couldn't get to Tesco because I was expecting an Amazon Parcel, at a completely unknown time, but before 9pm ! When my delivery was made, and other things that happened yesterday, during my night, and this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |

GMT
The forecast for a misty or foggy morning yesterday turned out to be completely wrong. At the very best the horizon may have looked a bit hazy, but basically it seemed to be a clear morning, although not in terms of the sky. That was generally grey, but once again the forecast rain turned out to be a couple of short instances of the lightest drizzle. The afternoon still had no sign of the sun, but it was less grey. The temperature only reached 15° C, but somehow it did not feel cold - just a bit cool. The forecast also predicted mist in the late evening, but I wasn't really paying attention to the outside world once it was dark and I had drawn the curtains. I suspect there was no mist. We see in the return
of GMT with glorious sunshine today. There was
sunshine before I got up, and the sunshine
should stay all day, although it is going to
feel like a very short day with sunset at
4.41pm today. Despite all the sunshine it will
remain cold with the air temperature only
reaching 14° C. Of course in direct sunshine,
or behind glass, it will hopefully feel quite
warm. Tomorrow may start and end damp with
either drizzle or light rain, but from 8am to
10pm it should stay dry, and maybe not too
grey, but no sunshine if forecast. The
temperature should reach 15° C.
With the benefit of hindsight, yesterday was a fairly good day. Not a great deal happened, but it seemed to not happen very smoothly. One good thing is that I managed to do what was only a slight possibility when writing yesterday morning. It all started with a shower - something I am trying to find excuses not to skip recently. My day is described, along with my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

BST
Yesterday was generally very dull, and at times there was some drizzle, and possibly rain too. With no sunshine the maximum temperature of 17° C felt cool, almost cold. Both the BBC
(screenshot above) and The Met Office forecast
mist of fog for this morning, and The met
Office saying it would not lift until 1pm ! In
reality it has been perfectly clear since
first light. It does look damp outside, and
maybe there has been some very fine drizzle.
The forecast says there could be both drizzle
and light rain until this afternoon.
Incidently, the latest update to the Met
Office forecast now has mist shown right
through until 10pm this evening. If I squint a
bit I can just make out a very slight haze in
the far distance ! The highest temperature
today, agreed on by both forecasters, will be
just 15° C, and with no sunshine that is going
to feel quite chilly. Tomorrow could
feature clear blue skies with non stop
sunshine, but it will only raise the
temperature to 14° C outdoors, but it could
raise the temperature to quite comfortable
behind the glass in my front room windows.
The great achievement yesterday was finishing washing a fairly large bath towel. I had left it soaking after having a shower the day before yesterday. I finally finished it, and hung it up to dry, a bit later than 3pm yesterday. The rest of yesterday is mostly, but not totally about eating. My day, my night (a very good one for a change) and this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

BST
Yesterday was most definitely all bright and sunny from dawn to dusk. The temperature rose to 16° C, and it almost felt like a summers day when in direct sunshine. After sunset it soon cooled down, and by midnight it was only 13° C, but I guess that was fairly mild. I don't think there
was a sunny spell at 8am, and it was just as
dull as it is now, and probably will be for
the rest of the day. Only some drizzle in the
early afternoon is forecast with the rest of
the day should/could be dry. There could be a
sunny spell or two towards sunset, and the
maximum temperature today should reach 17° C,
but without sunshine it will feel cold. The
forecast for tomorrow is very different
between the Met Office and BBC forecasts. The
Met Office mostly just says it will be dull
but dry until late afternoon when there could
be some sunny spells. The BBC say there will
be mist until 10am, and it will be followed by
just dullness without even a single sunny
spell. Both roughly agree on an afternoon
temperature of just a chilly 15° C.
Some of the consequences of yesterday were not desirable, and one was another in a series of "Why !". On the whole it was quite a good day, and of course the bright sunshine made it seem really good all by itself. I seemed to have a very slow morning, but before the clock passed midday I had managed to get under the shower. The rest of my day, night, and this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today. |

BST
Yesterday started with mist, but by about 10am the mist lifted, and the sun came out. Unfortunately, as soon as it saw it was exposed, it spent the rest of the day mostly hiding behind clouds. Some of those clouds were big and dark, but I don't think any rain fell. By early afternoon the temperature reached 16° C but with no sunshine it still felt cold. By 10pm the temperature had fallen to just 11° C, and we had a chilly night. By my reckoning, it
was just a bit under 9° C at the start of the
morning, and that was thanks to the sky being
clear. We now have glorious sunshine, and it
is possible it might stay this way until
sunset. Sadly it will only raise the
temperature to 16° C, but it should reach that
by 1pm. It could feel quite warm in direct
sunshine, and all that sunshine should warm my
front, south facing, rooms up a treat ! Sadly
tomorrow may start with mist, and after that
some rain can be expected. However the
temperature may reach 17° C, but with the
possibility of rain instead of sunshine it
will probably feel rotten again.
Yesterday had it's moment, but it was not a very good day. It wasn't actually bad, but it seemed very bland, and there was no "natural" things to do - just stuff I almost made up on the spur of the moment to stop me feeling too bored...and hungry ! What I did, what I ate, how well I slept, and what my dreams were, plus how I am feeling, and what my health measurements say about it, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

09:02
BST
Yesterday may have started bright and sunny, but it didn't last. By midday there were just some sunny spells, and even they were interrupted by some very dark, and fairly big clouds. One of even drop some rain - on a day that was supposed to be dry ! It took until 3pm for the temperature to peak at 16° C, but after a couple of hours the temperature started to fall to 11° C by midnight. Last night was
mostly clear, and I would have expected the
temperature drop even further, but from the
small hours everything was wrapped in a
blanket of mist. At 8am it was almost thick
enough to be called a light fog, but it very
quickly dispersed after that, and now, just an
hour later, it is clear, but rather grey
looking outside. Much of today may be grey,
but there could be a solitary sunny spell
later, and then more sunny spells from 3pm.
5pm may even be 100% sunny, but of course the
sun will be setting and we will maybe only get
half an hour of bright sunshine shining just
over the roof tops to the west. The afternoon
should see 16° C, but another mostly clear
night will see the temperature drop to just
11° C by midnight. It could be down to 10° C
at 6am tomorrow, but tomorrow could be very
sunny, although the maximum temperature is
only forecast to reach 16° C again.
After trying to convince myself I was going to go out for some railway exploration yesterday, I never did go out in that sense. That may have been a good thing because the day didn't turn out as well as expected. I did go out, but only as far as Aldi. This plus the rest of my day, night, and this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was horrible. It was so dull all day long. Only as the sun had set was there a glimpse of clear sky until it went dark. As wello as been grey and sunless, it was also quite chilly with the temperature only reaching 15° C. Today it is all
change ! I think this morning started
closer to 8° C than the forecast 9° C. The
reason it was so cold is that the sky is
completely clear, and may remain so until at
least 11am. After glorious sunshine some
clouds will develop, and they may be enough to
make 1 and 2pm a bit dull, but the rest of the
time we should still get sunny spells, and the
temperature should rise to 16° C - and that
may feel quite nice in direct sunshine.
Tomorrow will start with mist (both the BBC
and Met Office agree on it). After a 10° C
start it should warm up to 16° C again. There
might be less sunny spells (BBC) or mostly all
sunny spells once the mist has lifted (Met
Office).
Yesterday could easily have been as gloomy as the weather was, but in fact it was not bad despite hardly doing anything all day. Despite there being few distractions, it seems I managed my diet quite well yesterday, although I don't really know how. Later on in the afternoon there was good news. All the good and not so good news from yesterday, last night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 21st October 2024 |
09:18
BST
Yesterday was generally very damp and drizzly, but I think it dried up earlier than forecast, maybe around 4pm. At least the temperature was modestly higher than recently. It reached 17° C It is quite dull, it
was quite dull earlier, and it will apparently
be quite dull all day, but it will probably be
dry. This morning it is 13° C, and by mid
afternoon it will be barely noticeably higher
at 15° C. Tomorrow should stay dry, and it
should be quite bright with sunny spells, and
even a few hours of full sunshine in the early
morning. The temperature should hit at least
16° C.
Yesterday was sort of OK. I can't say the morning was very exciting, but at least it didn't seem to be boring. Late morning I felt sufficiently motivated to have a shower, but not enough to wash my hair - something I feel I must do today. Most of my day, and some notes about my night, and the start of this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |

BST
The first half of yesterday was dominated by grey skies, and mostly drizzly rain. Some rain my have been a little heavier for short periods, and sometimes there was no rain despite what the forecast predicted. In the afternoon the clouds broke up, and we got some sunny spells, and that pushed the temperature uo a single degree to 16° C. After dark the temperature fell several degrees, but the lowest may have only been 11° C As I write this it
looks dry outside, and the cloud seems fairly
thin. If the sun was a bit higher we could be
having a weak sunny spell. I'm not sure there
will be drizzle in the next hour, but maybe in
the hour after that, and that will be followed
by light rain until almost sunset. From 9pm
the sky could be clear, and we'll probably
have a chilly night. As can be seen in the
screenshot above, by 2am the temperature may
only have fallen to 13° C from an afternoon
high of 17° C. At 6am tomorrow the temperature
should still be 13° C. Tomorrow should be dry,
but white cloud will cover the sky until mid
to late afternoon when we might get to sunny
skies to warm the afternoon to 14 or 15° C.
Yesterday was one of those quite usual days that is a bit good, and a bit bad. The bad was mostly not having a lot to do, and having to find ways to amuse myself for quite a few hours. Other hours were better, and I did do some useful things. In fact I did more than I thought I would. This is all described in greater detail, and includes some notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 19th October 2024 |
08:58
BST
This morning the
temperature is about 15° C, and it may only
rise a single degree by mid afternoon. The
forecasts says light rain this morning, but it
is so light it could almost be called drizzle.
It is certainly making it look very wet
outside - maybe there was heavier rain in the
night. It might take until 2pm before the rain
stops, and the sun peeps out for some sunny
spells. Tonight is going to be a lot colder
with the temperature down to just 11° C by
midnight. Tomorrow may feature light rain for
most of the day, but the temperature should
climb from 13° C at 6am to 17° C by 3pm.
Yesterday was mostly a fairly bland sort of day, but it did have a few "exciting" moments, although "exciting" is not really the word I want. I want a word between very sad, and yet also uplifting. It was all to do with more news from Angela. It was the rest of the day that was very bland. I say a lot more about the news from Angela, and not a lot about the rest of my boring day, but I have written more notes about my night, and some notes about this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 18th October 2024 |
09:19
BST
Yesterday was
not warm according to the thermometer, but a day
of sunny spells, and some of them lasting a fair
time, made it feel quite warm - particularly
behind glass, but also outside when in direct
sunshine. All that for a temperature predicted
to be, and probably was just 17° C
Both the Met Office
and the BBC weather forecasts agreed their
would be mist this morning, although the BBC
may have over egged it to fog, and it was
definitely misty earlier this morning. It did
appear to have lifted, but a look out the
window just now shows some haze in the
distance. Once the sun manages to break
through, today may be like a single degree
cooler version of yesterday. Just 16° C
forecast, but sunshine and sunny spells to
make it feel warmer. Tomorrow could be very
wet until mid to late afternoon when the sun
may come out - a couple of hours before it
sets again ! Most of the afternoon could be
just 15° C, but a single hour at 16° C is
currently predicted.
Yesterday was generally a good day. Being able to leave the heating off, but still feeling warm because of the sunny spells, was a good thing. Later on my visit to the beer festival, held in The Catford Bridge Tavern was also good. The long wait for my beer delivery was less good. All this is described in more detail, plus illustrated with a few photos, and some notes about my night, and the start of this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

08:56
BST
To my great
surprise, the temperature really did rise to 21°
C yesterday, and the afternoon sunny spells
warmed up my south facing rooms, and also helped
take the chill off the north facing rooms.
Overall it seemed a nice day, although it was
such that I didn't really realise it until after
it happened because the forecast inspired little
confidence. It is possible that somewhere did
get the forecast thunderstorm around 8pm. I
thought I could hear a thundery rumble, but if
that was what it was it was so far away that it
was right on the threshold of hearing. I think
we did have some showers late at night, but they
never really drew attention to themselves.
This morning has
started quite mild with the temperature almost
reaching 16° C (my thermometers seem to agree
on 15.8° C). I am still waiting for the first
sunny spell. Over to the west there is a fair
bit of blue sky to be seen, but in the east,
where the sun should be, it looks rather grey.
Assuming the sun eventually breaks through it
should be a day of nice sunny spells, but may
only warm up to 18° C (according to The Met
Office). A clear night will let the
temperature drop down to 10° C, and according
to the BBC there will be mist and fog from the
early hours until late morning. The Met Office
say no mist of fog !). Tomorrow may be dry,
and sunny spells once the fog lifts (if it
ever happens) should take the temperature up
to around 16° C.
I have no idea why I think/thought it, but it seemed like yesterday may have been exciting. The alternative explanation is that in between a lot of boredom I did things that I couldn't wait for today so I could explain them, and/or show some pictures. All that did happen, and can be described, is described, with a host of pictures, along with the usual notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

The mist forecast for
yesterday morning didn't happen here, although
other parts of London may have had it. Much of
the day was quite dull, although there were some
sunny spells in the afternoon. The temperature
rose to about 17° C, and it felt just mild
enough to open the bathroom window for a few
hours. Rain was forecast for late evening, but I
didn't pay enough attention to notice if it
happened or not.
There was definitely
rain at some time during the night. It looks
quite damp outside at the moment, but it
doesn't seem to be raining. However it is very
dull right now. This afternoon should feature
a lot of sunny spells, and the temperature
should rise to a rather good 20 to 21° C.
Heavy rain is forecast for late tonight,
although the BBC and Met Office disagree about
the details. As Usual the BBC have thrown in a
few thunderstorms that the Met Office doesn't
predict. Most of the daylight hours tomorrow
should feature sunny spells, and the afternoon
temperature should rise to 18° C.
Yesterday was yet another of those good and bad day. The bad was insufficient distractions from eating too much. That had had consequences, but oddly enough it can't be blamed on my outing to Poundstretcher this time, but more on stuff bought from Aldi when I was there last weekend. I describe all that can be described about my day, yesterday, plus some notes about my night, and semi bad news this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was maybe
less wet than forecast, maybe the showers were a
bit more spread out. I must admit I paid little
attention to the weather outside because I was
too buy keeping warm. An afternoon temperature
of just 12° C is pretty chilly, although I guess
we will be seeing more of this, and ultimately
even lower temperatures as winter begins to bite
deeper.
I have yet to see
the mist that both the BBC (screenshot above)
and Met Office forecast for this morning,
unless they mean the very slight haze. I guess
visibility is down to under 10 miles at the
moment. Until late tonight (10pm) it should be
a dry day, and late afternoon should see some
sunny spells, but most of the day will be a
nasty dull grey. At least the afternoon
temperature will be an improvement over recent
days. 17° C is predicted. Tomorrow may be even
warmer, maybe even just about warm - 19° C is
predicted. It seems the BBC have thrown every
weather icon they have at tomorrow's forecast.
It shows mist, drizzle, light rain, heavy
rain, thunderstorms and some sunny spells. I
think that tomorrow there may be a revised
weather forecast that seems less random.
Yesterday saw the end of a day or two of constipation, although even the end was not exactly pleasant. The rest of the day was OK, but hardly exciting. It was most definitely a day to stay in, and find odd jobs to, or just to be generally lazy. The latter was my main choice. Any describable bit of my day, night, and this morning, is all described, with a few pictures, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday morning
started of very chilly, but it warmed up after
some full sunshine, and by late afternoon the
sunshine was replaced by sunny spells. They too
helped warm the day up. The only problem was
that the day only warmed up to a still quite
chilly 10° C.
This morning started
at more acceptable 10° C, but it is a very
dull, and very wet morning. We have had heavy
rain that started sometime in the early hours.
It does seem to have stopped raining as I
write this, but the forecast promises more
heavy rain until 11am when it should change to
a few hours of light rain. It may be
dry after that, but at just 12° C it is going
to feel very chilly under a grey sky with not
even a single ray of sunshine expected.
Tomorrow may start with some mist, but after
that has lifted/dispersed it should stay dry
until midnight. There may be two hours of
sunny spells at 5 and 6pm, just as the sun is
setting, and so almost worthless.
Maybe the good thing about today is no pictures of Underground/tube trains. In fact no pictures of anything because although two significant things happened yesterday, they were not exactly photogenic, although I could have taken pictures of bottles of beers ! My day, night, and this morning are all described in gruesome detail, but with no pictures, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was
definitely dull, although there was some sunny
spells at the exact time that light was
forecast. As far as I can recall, we did have
one shower, but I think it was quite late in the
afternoon, and an hour or so later it was dry
outside. It was a fairly cold day. The day
started about 7° C, by my reckoning, and it
crept up to about 14° C by mid afternoon.
This morning started
just a few degrees too high for a frost. It
should warm up to 10° C this afternoon thanks
to some sunshine and sunny spells - hopefully.
There was some sunshine filtering across the
house roofs to the east at about 8am, but it
didn't seem to last very long, and since then
most of the sky has been looking very grey.
The Met Office forecast partly agrees with the
BBC forecast (the screenshot above), and both
say today should feature sunshine and sunny
spells. Fingers crossed ! Tomorrow may start
wet, but from 11am it may be dry, but the sky
will remain grey for the rest of the day. 13°
C is forecast for tomorrow afternoon.
Yesterday was another day where nothing special was happening, and I had to find things to do to keep myself amused. One non amusing diversion was waiting for an Amazon delivery which triggered a double disappointment when it arrived. More about that later. All this and more, my day, night and this morning, is all described with copious pictures in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was lovely
bright and sunny. There was also a nice blue
sky, but it was just a little too cold for my
personal taste. The temperature only rose to
about the forecast of 12° C.
Early this morning
was interesting in so much as the temperature
reached it's lowest, maybe as low as 7° C
before rising again. It seems to be between 10
and 11° C as I write this. It is currently dry
outside, and so it seems likely that the
forecast shower for 8am never happened. It is
certainly very dull, and it seems almost
certain that some, if not all of the rain
forecast for between midday and 5pm will fall.
The afternoon temperature should peak at 14°
C. A clear night means it will end up as a
very chilly night. Tomorrow could start at
just 6° C, but it will be a mostly sunny day,
and that should warm things up to a still
shivery 10° C.
I didn't go out for any exploring the railways, add another tick or two to my quest to visit all the limits of my Freedom Pass, and nor did I go to a gig in the evening, but I did have a productive day - by some definitions of the word "productive". It is all described, with loads of pictures, in my complete archived page for today, and which also includes some notes about my night, and this morning. |

Funnily enough, there
were no hurricane force winds yesterday. Later
revisions of the BBC weather forecast added a
note at the top to say there was a data error,
and the whole forecast was not correct. In fact,
apart from the wind strength, it possibly came
closer to reality then many past forecasts. The
morning was damp, the afternoon featured sunny
spells, and the prediction of an afternoon
temperature of 11° C was sadly right.
This morning's
version of The BBC's weather forecast looks
about right, although only time will tell how
close it comes to reality. This morning the
sky is blue, and the temperature was low
enough for what was probably frost on some
shed roofs I can see. No frost on anyy cars
though. The sun is shining brightly, and
inside my bedroom the rays feel nice and warm.
The sun should continue to shine until 5pm
when we may only get sunny spells. The
afternoon temperature should reach 12° C. A
cloudy night means tomorrow won't start so
cold, and although sunshine will be at a
premium, if indeed there is any, the
temperature could rise to 14° C. The main
problem is that the middle of the day is
probably going to be wet.
Yesterday was mostly a good day, but it ended badly. I'll explain the bad ending further down the page. The good was actually a bit sparse in some ways.....on the other hand it did involve beer ! My day is described, but with no pictures this time, in my complete archived page for today, and it includes some notes about my eventful night and morning. |

There were a few
brief, and sometimes hazy sunny spells yesterday
morning, but a lot of the afternoon featured
sunny spells. They took the temperature up to
16° C, and possibly a degree or two more.
This morning's
version of The BBC's version of the forecast
was a bit eccentric, and still is. They are
forecasting hurricane strength winds of 400mph
! Curiously, The Met Office says mild breezes
as high as 8mph ! I wonder if The BBC is
showing a forecast for an American Catford of
something. The rest of the forecast does agree
with The met Office. It is a damp morning -
either from drizzle or light rain (it is
difficult to tell from indoors). The
temperature seems to have risen to 10° C as I
write this. Sunny spells this afternoon may
only raise the temperature to a rather chilly
11° C. Tonight the temperature will drop a lot
! It could be down to just 4° C by 7am
tomorrow morning, but maybe non stop sunshine
could raise it to 12° C. Tomorrow will also
see imaginary 408mph winds too !
Yesterday was all about waiting for parcel deliveries - two of them. With the benefit of hind sight I could have had a shower, and gone to the pub provided I didn't stay there too long. It was 11:51am before I was notified that one parcel would arrive between 15:00 - 17:00 , and the other just had the usual Amazon estimate of "before 9pm". When everything arrived, and what it was, plus other stuff about yesterday, last night, and this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was another
day that didn't match the weather forecast.
There was some rain yesterday, but far
less than forecast. Most of the time it was
forecast to rain, which was almost all day
according to the BBC, it was dry with long sunny
spells. It warmed the day up a treat. Just 17° C
was forecast, but I think it was probably
warmer. It certainly felt very warm in a black
coat in the sunshine ! I think there may have
been a shower or two after dark, but I am sure
there was no heavy rain, and most certainly no
thundery showers !.
So far this morning
we have had several rather weak sunny spells.
The sky is grey, and the chances of more sunny
spells seems slim, but based on what is
happening as I type this, not impossible. The
early afternoon is shown as sunny spells - a
bit of a change to the showers predicted in
yesterday's version of the forecast for today.
It has started off as a mild morning,
currently 15° C according to my thermometers,
That may mean the afternoon high could be a
few degrees higher than the forecast 16° C.
Tomorrow could be a lot cooler. Showers are
predicted for the morning and sunny spells
from mid afternoon. The maximum temperature
could be a chilly 11° C. Friday morning could
start as low as 4° C !
Yesterday was a day that ended up being fairly productive....sort of. I did two important things in the morning, and one thing in the afternoon that took a lot of time, and was a mix between useful and a waste of time. The first important thing was a nice shower. All these things are described with a lot of pictures, together with some notes about my sleep, and some annoying news this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

There were more sunny
spells, and a lot less rain than forecast for
yesterday. Apart from a moderately heavy shower
around midday, it was dry with lots of sunny
spells until after dark. I think it was
something like 10pm before there was any
substantial rain, and it may have continued,
with gaps, and mostly light showers, all through
the night. The temperature rose to about 17° C,
and that was quite nice when combined with the
unexpected sunny spells.
When I opened the
curtains, at around 8am this morning, the sun
was shining even though much of the sky looked
grey. The sun is shining as I write this (at
9am), and it looks like some of that grey
cloud is breaking up. I can see several fairly
large blue areas of sky now. Sooner or later
we may get the forecast light showers, but for
now it is nice and bright. The forecast, as
shown in the screenshot above, says there will
be thundery showers, but unusually for the
BBC, none are shown. However the Met Office s
does show thunderbolts for 8 and 9pm tonight.
Like yesterday, the temperature should reach
17° C again. Tomorrow is currently predicted
to be dry, and quite dull, and it will be a
lot cooler with only 15° C predicted. That
could feel rather cool with no sunshine.
I made the terrible mistake of believing the early weather forecast, and wrote yesterday off. As noted in the weather section at the top of the page, it was actually a fairly nice day, and had I known I might have forced myself to do something useful. What I did do, and there was not a lot of it yesterday, plus how my night went, and some notes about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was pretty
grim. It was either dull, or duller. The only
good thing, although for me it was irrelevant,
was that it stayed dry until after dark, and
maybe beyond that. I have to admit there were
quite a few times in the afternoon when it did
give every appearance of about to rain, but it
stayed dry. The temperature only reached 15° C,
and with not a single ray of sunshine it felt
like a very cold 15° C.
Both the BBC (as in
the screenshot above) and The Met Office
predicted sunny spells this morning. The BBC
probably came closer to reality because at
first it was rather dull, and damp looking,
possibly from overnight rain, but suddenly the
sun burst through, and it hasn't stopped
yet.At the moment a lot of the sky is blue,
although there are also some thin looking,
streaky clouds. Maybe this sunshine might last
a lot longer than forecast. The forecast
actually predicts light rain at midday, and
more form 2pm for 3 hours. The temperature
should climb to 17° C, and while the sun is
out it should feel like a nice day. Tomorrow
could be a wetter day than today. Some sunny
spells are shown in the forecast, but there is
also a lot of rain shown. Most of it is light,
but the evening may see heavier rain. Once
again the temperature should rise as high as
17° C.
The grim and grey, and cold day yesterday provided no inspiration to do anything, and I did come close to doing nothing yesterday, but "close to" is not the same as nothing at all. The most simple to describe, and one thing that was definitely hard work, was some laundry. The rest of my day, night, and some of this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was a lovely
day. The temperature reached 16° C in the
afternoon, and long sunny spells made that feel
quite warm - or even hot as the sun shone on my
black coat !
It is very dull as I
write this, and the forecast says we should be
seeing the first sunny spell right now.
Hopefully today will be like yesterday when it
took a few hours before the clouds broke up.
Assuming that happens, the temperature could
rise to an even warmer 17° C. Not a single
drip of rain is forecast, and some sunny
spells should be long enough to be called just
"sunshine". It could be almost like a summers
day. Tomorrow is forecast to be very dull, but
it should stay dry until maybe 8pm. The
temperature may rise to 16° C without a single
ray of sunshine to help it get there.
Yesterday featured a great, but very tiring day out (well, actually it was no more than 4 hours away from home). I enjoyed the warmth, and I ended up making up an even better route to, and from my intended target of Stanmore tube station. All this is described with more detail, and with a lot of pictures, plus some notes about my night and this morning, all in my complete archived page for today. |

Both weather
forecasters I check got one important part of
the forecast very wrong. Both predicted sunny
spells, but until about 5pm, when the clouds
seemed to evaporate away, it was very dull.
After 5pm we were treated to glorious sunshine
for the last 90 minutes until sunset. The worst
error was probably the rain on a day when no
rain was forecast. It must have been around 1pm
when we had a light shower followed by some
drizzle that lasted for about half an hour. The
afternoon temperature was about 15° C, which
was as forecast. The clear sky during the
evening allowed the temperature to drop a lot.
This morning started
at just 6° C. It was a bit cloudy at first,
but the cloud seems to be breaking up, and
maybe today's forecast of sunny spells will
come true. In fact, as I write these words,
the sun has just come out. Whether they will
continue through to sunset is anyone's guess,
but it looks nice for now. Today the
temperature should rise to 16° C by 2pm.
Tomorrow should start a few degrees higher
than today, but it may start a bit dull. If
the forecasts are right it could end up
sunnier than today, and the temperature could
reach 17° C.
My hopes of going out with a camera yesterday were dashed by the gloomy light outside. It seemed cold and depressing instead of the hoped for cheery weather (even if it would still be cool enough to need a coat). I did go out, but only as far as Tesco. I hope I will get out today now. All I did yesterday, which I admit was not a lot, how I slept, and how I am this morning is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Neither the BBC or Met
Office got things quite right yesterday. The BBC
predicted black clouds, andf almost non stop
light rain. The Met Office said light clouds,
and just a few showers. The Met Office was
probably closer to the truth, but forgot that
that cloud was often thin enough for some nice
sunny spells. There were a few light showers,
and one very heavy downpour in the early
afternoon. The temperature probably reached 16°
C, as forecast by the Met Office.
As usual, the Met
Office and BBC disagree about today's weather.
The BBC forecast is shown in the screenshot
above. The Met Office say sunny spells all
day, although the first has not happened yet,
and that makes both forecasts wrong. As I
write this there is a lot of cloud, but there
are also some blue areas, but they are in the
wrong place for the sun. Assuming the cloud
breaks up more we could get the promised sunny
spells, and the temperature may rise to 16° C
(or only 15° C in BBC land). The Met Office
predict tomorrow to be identical to how they
forecast today, but the BBC have thrown in a
few hours of non stop sunshine, and say the
temperature tomorrow could be 16° C.
Yesterday was an interesting day. The weather was not as forecast, and my aches and pains were different. I also felt sort of more relaxed, and that thing that is almost the opposite of sad and depressed. I achieved almost nothing, but I di go out, and managed to regulate my eating better. My full day, not that it was a very full day, plus my night, and the start of this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was
generally very dull, and while the whole day
seemed damp, the afternoon was very wet. I don't
think I really noticed heavy rain, as per the
forecast, but the rain was quite persistent even
if it was somnetimes little more than drizzle. I
seem to recall the sun breaking through the
clouds for no more than a minute, and tat may
have happened twice. It was quite a cool day
with the temperature only reaching 13° C.
It is interesting
that the BBC forecast for today shows black
clouds, and almost non stop light rain until
almost sunset. The Met Office say a few
showers, but most of the day will be dry with
light/white clouds. Once again the BBC say a
max of 15° C, and the Met Office say 16° C.
Both forecasters agree that tomorrow will be
dry with a lot of sunny spells, and the
temperature should reach 16° C.
Yesterday was one of those days where I put my entire energy and attention on waiting - waiting for my latest beer delivery. In case it should arrive early I quickly got in a shower, and washed my hair. I thought I might possibly go out if the delivery was early enough. All that happened during the day, during the night, and so far this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

September finished as
a partly wet and mostly dull day. There was
possibly a bit less rain than forecast, but
there was still rain. No sunny spells were
forecast, but the afternoon did see a few short
sunny spells. The temperature was a bit better
than the the previous day or two, and reached
16° C.
This morning has
started very dull, and rain is on it's way.
The BBC say the rain will start at 11am, but
the Met Office say it might be as late as 1pm,
and all the rain will be light rain. The BBC
predict that some rain may be very heavy. The
temperature may only reach 13° C (BBC) or 14°
C (Met Office). Tomorrow will be very dull,
but the Met Office say it will only rain at
1pm, and that may only be light rain. The BBC
also predicts light rain, and of course throws
in a thunderstorm for 2pm ! Tomorrow could be
15° C (BBC) or 16° C (Met Office).
I have to confess that I found yesterday's dull and sometimes wet weather, to be most depressing. I once had mad ideas about going out to do some photography, but the reality of the day put me off even going outside. It seemed to be a day to do indoor stuff. What I did yesterday, how I slept last night, and what my morning has started like, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |
