Until mid to late evening, yesterday was dry, but even then there was only some light rain that seemed to pass unnoticed (it may not have even happened !).  There were a few sunny spells, but most of the day was grey. The early afternoon temperature reached 15° C for a few hours, and then it cooled just a single degree until it went back up to 15° C at around 9pm.
BBC_weather forecast
It must have been 15° C all night because that was the temperature first thing this morning. It has now risen to 16° C, and if we get the forecast sunny spells it may feel almost pleasant in the afternoon. Only 9am is shown with a very low, 17% chance of rain, and the rest of the day is shown as 0% chance.  Tomorrow may start at 15° C, and there may be some light rain. The afternoon should see 16° C. It should be dry, but hardly any sunshine is expected for all of tomorrow.

Yesterday was not a very exciting day, and some of it was a bit boring, but I did do a couple of useful things. One of those things came close to some bad consequences, but I almost got away with it.

After I finished writing yesterday morning I had my usual lie down and rest. I think I probably rested for a bit too long, but it was not really of any consequence. I then took advantage of the bathroom being very slightly warm after using the fan heater on low to help dry out the damp carpets. I had a shower, and I washed my hair. After drying me, and then drying my hair, I got dressed ready to go out.

Going out was not great expedition. I just went to Savers to top up a few things like shower gel, and deodorant spray, and then I crossed the way to do a bit more shopping in Poundstretcher. I bought a few more things in there that I could probably have found in Savers (things like giant sticking plasters - useful for padding my bunions if wearing tight shoes for a long walk. I also bough a few food items, and that included some very high calories (probably) flapjack bars.

Once I got home it was time for lunch. The rice crackers and salami was fairly safe, but first one, and then two flapjack bars seemed to be a bit bold at a time (seemingly and everlasting time) when I am supposed to be watching what I eat. On the other hand, eating those flapjack bars in particular, gave me a sort of sense of guilt, and that moderated what I would later have for dinner.

After lunch I started reading some of the backlog of Tech news items from https://www.theregister.com/. I must have had at least 30 tabs open in Firefox - each with a different news item. Some were quite boring, and some very interesting, and quite a few I have still to read - and I have added more since. The most boring thing at the moment is the obsession with AI. They report new developments, and how much some of the giant data centres cost, plus how many Gigawatts of electricity they will or do consume. Quite a few news items are about how many expect the "AI bubble" to soon burst as the mania dies away.

After reading for maybe an hour I needed to rest my eyes, and I laid on my bed thinking I would just close my eyes for 5 minutes, and then do some reading from my book. It seems I closed my eyes for more than 5 minutes. I possibly closed them at around 3pm, and the next thing I knew was that it was nearly 6pm and time to prepare dinner, and watch the 6 O'clock News.

With my sort of unhealthy lunch in mind I made sure I had an unusually healthy dinner. It was simply two apples, two mini easy peeler oranges, and a chunk of cheese. The chunk of cheese was about an inch square and one and a half inches long - enough to challenge the acid of the apples. I also had a single bag of spicy, baked, potato waffles - allegedly more healthy than crisps because they are baked and not fried.

I spent the rest of the evening watching TV. I feel something like guilt doing that, but on the other hand I feel quite proud that unlike many retired people I have no time/stomach for daytime TV.  I would much rather read than watch daytime TV. Even better is doing something constructive - which could be a walk in the sunshine, if there is any, or trying to catch the drips (of clean and uncontaminated water) from my toilet cistern when it is flushed.

With regard to the toilet, I feel sure I have managed to catch all drips, and yet one bit of carpet remains wet looking. It is adjacent to the bath, and I am wondering if water seeped unto the bath tub enclosure, and is now returning the way it came. There is some very dubious evidence that could be what is happening. I have noticed that there are definitely dry areas of the carpet since putting my drip trays in place. They should be only a stop gap, and once I have found a (hopefully) trustworthy plumber I will commission him (or her) ton replace the cistern and down pipe, and that should be a cure that will hopefully be permanent enough to see my life out.

After my last bit of TV last night (I think it was QI) I turned out the light, and was soon asleep in bed. It did not last long, and I am unsure why. I think I had to get up to have a pee, but after that I didn't seem to fall into a deep sleep. One problem was I was feeling a little too warm, or a little too cold. At one point I seemed to have a headache, and I got up to take a couple of Paracetamol tablets. I am unsure if they worked because I seemed to fall asleep quicker than I expected them to give any relief.

I do seem to be getting a lot of headache recently, and some of them are quite uncomfortable. I have a feeling I want to blame them as a side affect of injecting Mounjaro. They do seem more frequent, and more painful since I went on the higher dose of Mounjaro. Incidently, I don't think I mentioned that I took my first does of the 5mg Mounjaro after my shower yesterday. I must have a look through the leaflet with the Mounjaro pen to see if headaches are a known side effect. This morning I tried some reading glasses while typing in case it was eye strain. With the glasses on I can see the very fine dot structure of my LCD monitor, but it hasn't helped the current headache. Once again, Paracetamol to the rescue.

Another quick aside: I have also checked my blood pressure, as I always do during the morning every day (except when I forget). High blood pressure (or maybe even low) is a cause of headaches. My blood pressure is currently 130/52. That is about what my doctor would expect, and the blood pressure machine describes it as "High Normal". I think I can rule out blood pressure.

Back to last night and I did have a couple of dreams. One seems to have slipped from my memory, but one left some memory. The dream I remember was about my back garden, and what I strongly suspect was my next door neighbour coming into my garden (Incidently, not my real neighbours).  My suspect had hammered an unusual knife into a crack in the concrete path, and the position seemed worryingly near where there are underground drain pipes.

The "unusual knife" really exists, and it was made by my eldest brother - possibly during unauthorised time in a school metal work workshop, although it could have been made years later at his place of work where they probably had the facilities. The blade of the knife was a wide (about one inch) 12 to 15 inch hacksaw blade. It had been ground along it's length to give a fairly sharp blade. The end was set in a white metal, and it may have been an aluminium alloy that had been poured into a square cast with the end of the blade in the middle. It was not exactly a comfortable handle. I suspect it was a made experiment. I have not seen it for ages, but I think it is somewhere in the wreck of my old workshop.

After losing an hour or two sleep in the night, I was in no rush to get up this morning. I woke up late enough, probably 7am, that I didn't try and go back to bed again. I went for a pee, and thought I would poo as well. I think about half an hour passed before I went back to the toilet, and that time I did do quite a substantial poo, although maybe thanks to the fibre in the fruit (and also flapjacks) it was easy to pass once it started to move.

Prior to that poo my weight was not looking so good, but after made a useful difference. It still meant I had put on 200gm since the day before. Curiously enough it was the day before when I lost 200gm, and so this morning I am back to where I was the day before yesterday. It is not ideal, but staying the same is better than any increase.

My blood glucose was higher than I hoped. I thought my penance of fruit and cheese for dinner might have meant a lower blood glucose reading this morning. It is not that bad, but neither is it that good. The Contour meter read 7.8mmol/l, and that is a bit higher than my target, but not by much. The GlucoRX meter read spot on my current target (at least I think it is my current target). It read 7.5mmol/l. Once again the latest meter, which was so generous when brand new, let me down with a reading of 8.1mmol/l. That is not a disaster, but for some weeks or more now I have been hoping to get all readings under 8.0, and ideally starting with a 6. Such readings have been happening now and again since using Mounjaro, but maybe only in conjunction with eating ice cream with Sodium Alginate in it.

The big, and only plan for today is to go to The Jolly Farmers for my usual Wednesday lunchtime visit. I didn't go last Wednesday because of the appalling rain. Today there is a fair chance I will be walking in sunny spells. If the forecast is correct, and it is looking good at the moment, it should be warm enough to not bother with a coat. I might even put my shorts back on !
