Yesterday featured a few showers,
some in the late morning, and
others in the evening. Despite
that it seemed like yesterday was
a dry day - maybe I was not
looking when it rained. There were
some sunny spells in the last
couple of hours before sunset. The
afternoon reached 15° C, and the
temperature didn't seem to be
falling much in the late evening.
The forecast says today will
start with showers, but the last
couple of hours have been sunny. There
is a lot of thin cloud with plenty of
blue patches in it, and it looks like
this sunshine could last for some
time. The only full sunshine actually
forecast for today is shown for 3 and
4pm. Most of today will be 14° C, but
the afternoon could be 15° C.
The temperature will drop a single
degree, back to 14° C, and stay there
all through the night. Much of
tomorrow will also be 14° C, but once
again the afternoon should see 15° C.
There could be light showers at random
times tomorrow, but from 8pm it could
turn to heavy rain.
Yesterday featured a few things
worth noting, but it was hardly an
exciting sort of day - except maybe a
shopping trip. Then again, it also
featured a lot of lazing around, and
probably a snooze or two.
After I finished writing I had
a shorter rest than usual because I
wanted to give myself my next Mounjaro
injection. I had intended to do it
after a shower when I was clean, but I
used some alcohol hand sanitiser to
clean the injection site. Now I have
had some practice at doing these
injections I did not anticipate any
problems, but I did have a sort of
problem. I thought the needle went in
OK, but when I withdrew it the needle
was bent. It is a very thin needle,
and it is probably easy to bend it. I
don't know if I hit something hard
under the skin, or if I didn't keep it
straight as I withdrew the needle, but
it was certainly bent through almost a
right angle. The Mounjaro seemed to go
in OK, and as far as I can tell, it is
working as expected.
I rested for another 10 or 15
minutes after that, and then had a
shower, and washed my hair. Once
dressed I went out. It seemed a bit
too cool to not wear a coat, and I put
on one of my lightest coats - mostly
to keep the cool wind out. My only
destination was Poundstretcher, and I
seemed to buy every thing I was hoping
to buy.
An important part of my
shopping list was a couple of cheap
plastic cereal bowls to use as cat
feeding bowls, but they didn't have
any. What they did have was proper cat
feeding bowls in several shapes an
sizes. I bought two of those,
and later on they got the seal of
approval from Fluffy Cat. The other
important thing on my shopping list
was a new toilet brush and holder. The
older one was made from cheap tin
plate, and while it looked good
originally, it was rusty, and even
rusted through in one place, plus it
was very smelly.
The new toilet brush is a basic
all plastic thing. That means it could
be washable, although at just £6.99 I
would tempted to just get a
replacement if it got too shabby and
smelly, or broken. This new one will
be the third I have had since moving
here 42 years ago. I guess I am not
doing too bad.
I did buy a few other things,
mostly food, and that included the
very nice, but apart from the possible
fibre, very unhealthy flap jacks. I
know I had one as part of my lunch,
but I can't remember what else I had
for lunch. It might have been rice
crackers and cheese, but I could be
confusing that with the previous day
..... although there is no reason I
couldn't have it two, or more days
running.
After lunch I had a short lie
down, but then I needed to get up
again to go for a pee. While I was
peeing I heard meowing, and I knew it
was fluffy cat trying to get my
attention. Out of curiosity I went
into the back bedroom to look out the
window to make sure it was him, and to
make sure he wasn't "singing" to next
door or something. I looked out and
couldn't see him anywhere - until I
looked up.
I saw him casually strolling
over the lower roof. I had long
suspected that he had got onto next
doors lower roof via the kitchen
extension roof. I saw him leap from
the top of the fence onto next doors
kitchen extension, but I could not
work out where he went once up there.
I could see that using the back
bedroom (if next door use it as a
bedroom) windowsill would make it a
very simple two leap jump to the lower
roof, and from there the main house
roof was only a jump of less than 2
feet - extremely simple for an agile
cat like Fluffy.
I speculate that had happened
yesterday, and Fluffy Cat had gone up
to the main house roof, crossed over
to my side, and then come down onto
the lower roof. I wondered where he
would go next. As soon as he saw me he
jumped the approx 4ft across the drop
to the ground to land on the
windowsill. Without wishing to tempt
fate, I opened the window so he could
come in and stop doing dangerous
acrobatics !
I managed to convince him to
follow me downstairs without
investigating every room upstairs.
Once down in the dining room I closed
the door to stop him getting back into
the rest of the house, and went to
dish out some dinner into one of his
new food bowls. All I had was some
turkey flavour food that he had
previously rejected (and ended up as
fox food). It seems that in the new
bowl it was mysteriously now quite
tasty. He almost finished it all, and
then went to sit in a box. I had other
things to do, and opened the dining
room window for him in case he wanted
to go out - which he did once I left
the room.
The "other things" I was
intending to do was little more than
being fairly lazy in my warm bedroom.
I can't remember if I did or didn't,
but I probably had a snooze. I
certainly laid on my bed to do a bit
more reading, and I am sure at one
point I put the book down and closed
my eyes. From the speed at which time
seemed to pass I guess I did snooze
for a bit. The next thing I knew was
that it was time to get my dinner
ready to eat while watching the 6
O'clock news.
While trying to remember what I
had for dinner, I have suddenly
remembered the missing bit of my
lunch. It was a Ginsters chicken and
bacon pasty. I had never tried one
before, and it was OK-ish, but
generally underwhelming. I would
probably buy another if it were on the
reduced price shelf, but full price
would over value it.
I think I probably had a snack
an hour or two before dinner, and I
feel sure it was a packet or two of
baked waffles (like packets of
crisps). I had dared buy a packet of
"maple syrup bacon" flavour. I had
visions of burping up bacon flavour
for the rest of the day - like smoky
bacon crisps give you. In that respect
these weren't bad, but I feel sure
they are just a one off curiosity buy.
My actual dinner was vanilla
ice cream and fruit cake. It sounds
daft, and the last thing to eat while
trying to control sugar and calorie
intake, but somehow it seems to be
very safe, and maybe even good for me.
I think I may have overdone the amount
of ice cream this time, but my health
tests this morning were still pretty
good. Rather than eat any more I had
lots of chilled water to make me feel
a bit fuller, and I had a few whiskeys
as well.
I watched TV until 11pm, and it
was the usual mix of start trek, QI
and Have I Got News For You. Soon
after 11pm I was in bed, and asleep. I
thought I felt OK before I fell
asleep, but at about 1am I woke up and
burped. It was a very acid tasting
burp, and as soon as I sat up I could
feel heart burn starting. I had to get
up and have some Gaviscon tablets to
calm the acid down.
That seemed to work, but I did
feel a bit odd, and that became worse
as I laid down to try and go back to
sleep. I wanted to get back to sleep
to see if I could resume, or even
improve on a dream I had in the short
period of sleep before I had to get up
to deal with the heartburn. It was a
quite erotic dream - hence the idea
that I was hoping to resume it if I
got back to sleep - despite long
experience telling me I have never,
ever resumed any good dream.
The first I remember of the
dream was laying on my bed, and 3 or 4
young woman jumping on top of me. The
curious thing is that they seemed
light as a feather, and I had no
impression of any weight on me, but I
still seemed to be amid a tangle of
bodies. I think they may have been
egged on by a friend I haven't seen
for years, Ivor. One of the young
women was his wife as remembered from
possibly before he was married to her.
As I tried to get my arms free
i kept feeling things. One was a very
soft but shapely bottom. It did not
produce any negative reaction when I
fondled it. Then I found myself
caressing a breast. Once again there
was no protest made. It was all very
pleasant, and I suspect In touched
other (all clothed) areas, but jut as
I was enjoying myself I woke up with
the acid feeling burp.
I mentioned tha even after
taking the Gaviscon tablets I still
felt a bit odd. I thought I might
vomit, and even put a bowl by my bed -
just in case. The actual trouble
seemed to be at the other end. I went
to the toilet to have a pee, and got
strong hints that I might have some
bottom trouble. I went back to my bed,
but only stayed there for something
like 10 minutes before going back to
the toilet.
With just a modicum of effort I
passed a medium sized, medium hard
poo. I assumed that was all the bother
was, and went back to bed. I had only
been laying in bed for an few minutes
when I felt the urge to fart, but I
also felt an element of danger. I was
right. I went back to the toilet and
once I was sitting comfortable I
exploded. It was nine tenths as bad as
diarrhoea. I can't think of any reason
why i might have got food poisoning,
but that was what the cause may well
have been.
It was about 3am by the time I
felt safe to give in to sleep. I had
missed quite a bit of sleep, and it
seems I made up for it by getting up
extra late this morning. I did get up
once before 8am so I could take screen
shots of the weather forecasts, but
than I went back to sleep again. When
I was awake again I went to the toilet
for a pee, and then weighed myself.
The first time I weighed myself I
seemed to have put a little weight on.
The second time, which was only a big
pee, but not a huge pee, seemed to
have dropped my weight enough to say I
had lost a miraculous 500gm since
yesterday morning.
My blood glucose was not as
good as the day before, but still good
enough. The Contour meter, and the
GlocoFix meters read 7.8mmol/l. That
is good enough, but not
very
good. The GlucoRX meter read 7.0mmol/l
- the lowest of the three meters and
that is actually almost very good.
The main plan for today is to
go for my (usually) regular Wednesday
lunchtime drink in The Jolly Farmers.
As I write this i should have just
finished showering, and getting ready
to go out in another 20 to 30 minutes
time. I think I am going to be late,
but that doesn't matter. It could even
be good if the latest update to the
weather forecast has any credibility.
The BBC says there will be dizzle at
midday, but from 1pm there may be
sunny spells, and the walk through the
park will be far more enjoyable. It
could be 16° C, and I might not even
need bother with a coat. Some nice
sunshine on my arms would be very nice
!
