Lockdown day 420 447

09:59 BST

The forecast said 28° C, and I think that is what it was yesterday afternoon, but somehow it didn't seem to feel that hot. The morning was bright and sunny, but during the afternoon the clouds gathered, and it seemed it might rain, but it stayed dry.
not much sunshine today
I've tagged the screenshot above as "not much sunshine today", but I really should have said "not much sunshine until the end of the afternoon when it should be very sunny, and the sunshine should continue until sunset", but that was a bit long. The temperature today should reach 24° C. Tomorrow was originally forecast as being mediocre with a chance of thunderstorms. The latest forecast says it will be hot and sunny all day. That will probably brew up a thunderstorm, but it may not be until the early hours of the day after tomorrow. That could possibly be a very violent day.

I treated myself to some cod in breadcrumbs for breakfast yesterday, and maybe it was a good thing. It did mean that I spent a lazy hour or so reading while it digested yesterday morning, and that was a pleasant thing, but eventually I started getting busy. One task was to catch up with some laundry now that I've fixed the leaking waste pipe from the bath (I do my laundry by hand using a couple of big builders buckets in the bath). It was nice to hang that laundry outside in the sunshine, and then to bring it in 3 or 4 hours later feeling warm and dry.

Since fixing that leak the nasty smell from the puddle of nasty water has faded away. It had started with the horrid smell you can get from stagnant washing machine water. Yesterday it went through a phase of "mild pub toilet smell", and this morning I couldn't really smell anything. That was a relief, although maybe a good downpour, like the thunderstorms predicted for the day after tomorrow, will wash away the last of any contaminant.

If "being busy" is defined by not having time to read my book, then I was very busy in the afternoon. Nothing I did was arduous, but there seemed to be a lot of it. Some was simple stuff like copy the two videos I shot of The Coxymorons (last Saturday) onto a USB thumb drive so Dik could send them to someone. More time consuming was to copy 5 DVD data disks of old, archived, radio programmes to a couple of external hard drives as a safety measure in case those 18 year old recordable DVD disk start to deteriorate. As part of the process I also copied them onto a single SD memory card because I may be posting it to someone.

My fish breakfast was probably good because it seemed to be like an appetite suppressant. It wasn't 100% effective because I did have a handful of mixed nuts during a long wait during my file copying process. Eventually it was 6pm, and dinner time, although I didn't feel like I had to rush to eat. Before eating I checked my blood glucose level, and it was 7.7mmol/l - exactly the same as it had been in the morning.

My dinner ended up as quite a pile on the plate, but most of that pile was lettuce leaf, and assorted other salad stuff. I had the salad with some precooked, flavoured chicken breast chunks. I'm sure it said spiced chicken on the pack, but it tasted a lot like thyme to me - a flavour I don't like if too strong - it reminds me of mould. While it was a physically big dinner, it is my belief that it was generally low in calories and sugar content - a belief that was confirmed this morning.

It was only a few hours after dinner that I retired to bed with the book I am reading. I think I read it until it was just starting to get dark - maybe around 9.30pm.  I was asleep fairly quickly for a rather sticky night (although it was feeling quite fresh outside), and on the whole I slept quiet well. There was one thing that sometimes made things less than comfortable in bed.

It was like I had pulled a muscle in my upper right arm. Some movements, and I think it was generally raising my arm, were quite painful. The answer last night was to try and not to raise my arm in the way that caused pain. Obvious really !! This morning it is still slightly sore if I deliberately provoke it, but it has improved to the point that it is not noticeable in every day use.

There was some good news this morning. My blood glucose dropped a tiny bit more to 7.6mmol/l. I must admit I would have hoped it might have dropped a little bit more, but it is a good figure, and leave a little bit of slack if I go off the golden path (or something like that). Maybe the good news is actually to do with my weight. When I weighed myself after my morning visit to the toilet I found I had lost a whole 100gm compared to the day before. Now obviously such a tiny amount could easily be written off as a fluke, but it cheered me.

I got up quite slowly this morning because I wanted to waste a bit of time before going out to get some shopping from shops that don't open until 9am. First of all I went to Savers where I bought my next 90 days worth of cod liver oil capsules, and a couple of tubes of toothpaste. Savers is the only shop that keeps good stocks of cod liver oil capsules, and other vitamins, and sells them at a reasonable price.  After savers I went across to Poundstretcher. I was principally after bleach and bird food, but I also bought some human food too - pickled red cabbage and pickled read jalapeño slices.  I also bought a few other odd bits and pieces.

Shortly before I went out shopping I went to the toilet again - just to make sure I was comfortable, and I am glad I did for three reasons. One reason is I did a medium sized pee, and another reason was I did a medium sized poo. Those combined with maybe a little dehydration by very light sweating, meant that when I got on the scales again, after taking off my outdoor clothes, I saw an even bigger reduction in weight - another 200gm lighter, or 300gm since the day before. Once again there are some uncertainties in such small amounts, but it seems the trend is down.

I am not 100% sure what I am doing today, but I probably have a fair idea. After my shower I put some more laundry in to soak in detergent. The next thing I will do after I have finished writing should be to complete that laundry, and getting it on the line to dry in this afternoon's sunshine. The next thing I ought to do is to finished selecting and editing the pictures I took at the street gig on Saturday.  In theory I should go for a walk in the sunshine, but I may end up shuffling audio files around onto my two external back up hard drives. The two drives should be identical, but they lost synchronism some time ago, and with extra stuff to add to them it could be a long, tedious job. Still, it has to be done one day, and today is as good as any.
