It may cloud over
after 6pm, and maybe a cloud will drift across
the sun at 10am, but otherwise there should be
full on sun for the best of the day.
Temperatures should reach 26° C. The start and
end of tomorrow may be cloudy, but the sun
should be out in the afternoon, and the
temperature could hit 27° C.
It was my original intention to go for
a walk, or maybe do some trainspotting
yesterday, but neither happened because I was
worried about my guts being a bit volatile.
They had been in the morning, and later on, as
midday approached, I was still getting some
"internal noises" and I feared there could be
more to come. As it turned out, nothing at all
happened, but I think it might have been wise
to stay within easy reach of a toilet - just
in case !
In one respect it was good that I
didn't go out because I ended up doing a job I
had been putting off for too long. It was to
cut the grass in my back garden. I have to
admit it was running riot, and some of it
could have been cut for hay. I am still
considering getting a proper mower of some
type, but all I had yesterday was the strimmer
to attack the grass with. Considering an
electric motor does all the hard work, I
wonder why I find it so tiring to use that
strimmer. Maybe it is the muscle control to
try and keep it at a good height above the
ground to
try and get some sort of
even cut.
From a distance it mostly looks like
the grass is looking good after strimming it.
Unfortunately a closer look reveals all sorts
of variable height clumps, off blades of grass
not cut at all, and all the bald areas. Maybe
the time for getting a mower is getting
closer. For one thing I managed to rake out
quite a few stones while raking the grass up
to put it in the garden waste bin.
I just about had enough energy left to
do a little bit of weeding, but in truth I
doubt it as 10% of all that needs to be done.
My last bit of energy was to brush down the
garden waste bin, and move it to by the back
door. It is my intention to put it out to be
emptied when the bin men come tomorrow. While
I was working in the garden I was helped by a
few robins, and even a sparrow or two. The
latter are a welcome addition. It wasn't until
recently that a sparrow found there was free
food available, and one or two now seem to be
regular visitors.
It was good to lay down and cool off
after I had finished in the garden. Working in
the hot sun felt nice up to a point, but I was
feeling very hot and sweaty at the end. Of
course I did it all backwards - I had my
shower in the morning with the idea that I
would be going out. I probably should have had
a shower after being in the garden, but I
relied on my deodorant to try and keep me
sweet for my next brief adventure.
At this point it is worth stepping back
in time a few hours. During the morning I got
out three pairs of shorts. The best thing is
that they all fitted me. Yesterday I wore a
pair of khaki shorts around the house. I used
a pair of grey (faded black) cargo pant style
shorts to do the gardening, and I wore a pair
of light blue shorts to go shopping. I can
recall the last time I tried those blue shorts
on they didn't fit. Yesterday they did, but I
will admit they were a very "snug" fit !
It was a pleasant walk to
Savers
to buy a few bits and pieces. Top of my
shopping list was bleach and cod liver oil
capsules. I also bought some raspberry flavour
shampoo and conditioner. For unknown reasons I
seem to think the smell is better than my
usual go to shampoo, sweet strawberry flavour.
Once upon a time it was the other way around.
I wonder if the change is another legacy of of
Covid ?
After getting home from Savers I didn't
really do any more, but I did eat. My
intention was to fast until dinner time, but
working in the garden, and the walk to and
from Savers, had stirred up my appetite. Over
the course of part of the day when I meant to
be fasting I ate a whole small bag of mixed
"nibbling nuts" and the other three reaming
small (25gm) packets of Frisps. This was not
ideal, but apart from the calories in the nuts
it would not do much harm.
The rest of my day, and the evening
were spent being very lazy. Even my dinner was
a lazy meal. I had the last two Oriental
flavoured packs on Instant noodles I had
bought from Tesco on Sunday. Last night's
flavours were "stir fried noodles" and Al
Gorang (or something like that). None were
even close to unpleasant, but I can't really
care for any of the three flavours I tried. I
think I prefer Polish noodles, and the
beetroot/borche flavour is probably my
favourite.
I watched one episode of Sherlock
Holmes, from my stash of recordings, and two
episodes of QI on Dave before going to bed
last night. I wasn't sure I was that sleepy
when I went to bed, but after reading for 15
minutes or so I started to feel very sleepy.
It was maybe 10.30pm when I put the book down,
and turned out the light. Minutes later I was
fast asleep. My bedroom was a nice temperature
to kick the duvet aside, and I slept seemingly
extremely well until nearly 4am.
I say "seemingly" because while I don't
remember in anything but the very haziest,
dreamy detail, I am sure I woke up for a pee
at something like 1am. I must have walked to
the bathroom and back on autopilot or
something. That long sleep wasn't dreamless. I
had a long series of dreams about semi
intelligent robots. The curious thing about
these robots is that I can't remember what
they looked like apart from one feature. It
was a circle of glass tubes that contained
computer memory.
If the robot was to change the job it
was supposed to do it's entire memory was
erased, and a new information written to it.
One clever robot worked out that there was
sufficient memory space to hold a compressed
version of the last programming, and so
erasure was not needed, and the robot could
experience the equivalent of an extended life.
It all sounds a bit bland as I try and
describe it, but somehow it was exciting in
the dreams. I feel sure I had a whole series
of dreams, probably all slightly different,
but based on this general idea. I am sure
there is a lot more detail that I can't recall
that would make the dream more interesting
too.
This morning I continued what seems to
be a habit now - a two stage wake up. I woke
up about an hour before I felt I ought to get
up and managed to get another hours sleep. I
still ended up getting up a bot earlier than
usual, and maybe earlier than wanted, but I
seemed to feel basically OK. The very good
thing is that I had reversed the very high
blood glucose reading of yesterday morning.
That was a very naughty 9.9mmol/l. This
morning, although I didn't fast as intensely
as intended, my blood glucose was down to a
very good 7.1mmol/l. That is less than my
target of 7.5mmol/l - which I very rarely
achieve these days.
Unless I hear differently, my entire
plan for today is to meet Angela for a
lunchtime drink. I may well water the garden
as well - probably this morning. I will also
need to lug the brown, garden waste, wheelie
bin through the house so I can park it outside
ready for emptying tomorrow morning. It is a
shame that it is stinky and full of flies, but
if I make sure the lid is held down it
shouldn't pollute my house too much !
