The latest revision
to the forecast makes some important changes
to the screenshot above. The 30% chance of
rain for 3 to 5pm now shows just mod grey
cloud with an unlikely 10% chance of rain. The
biggest change is around midday. 10am is now
shown as light rain, 11am as heavy rain, and
midday as thunderstorms, and finally 1pm back
to light rain. After that it will be dry, but
dull. When I look at the sky I feel this
revision to the forecast could turn out to be
reality, but like this revision it could all
change again. The chances are that that an
afternoon temperature of 22° C is probably
right, although having said that it seems all
three of my thermometers agree it is already
23° C. Maybe the rain, if it falls, will cool
things down again. Tomorrow is shown as just
21° C, and rain all day long - some light
rain, but maybe a few thunderstorms thrown in
as well.
Very little happened yesterday ! In
fact no big things happened, but there were
some small things. Although in a way two of
those small things were big things. Confused ?
You ought to be ! I would define big things as
a walk in the park, or a railway station
spotting expedition, and maybe even doing a
load of laundry, or some hoovering. None of
that happened.
As I mentioned yesterday, I was
initially slightly constrained in my choices
because I spent several session during the
morning getting over two days of constipation.
Like last Friday I could have gone out at
midday when I was comfortable, and confident
it was all over, but by then the weather
forecast had changed to look a bit grim for
outdoor activities.
This is how the forecast looked after
it was revised during the morning. As I
mentioned (in so many words) at the top of the
page, it turned out to be basically nonsense.
It was very dull in the afternoon, but the
only rain was like a passing shower at just
after 6pm. It was enough to give some of the
road a wet look, but 10 minutes later those
wet patches were dry again. Maybe today my
garden might get a good watering !
Two little things I did were actually
big things, or so the inside of my brain said.
I logged onto my two credit card providers,
and paid both off fully. One was a fair bit of
money because it had my new fisheye camera
lens on it. That one was my Tesco credit card,
and I am looking forward to some Clubcard
points for the money I have spent on that
card. I tend to use it for all my purchases
except for in the the pub when I still use
cash.
My other credit card didn't need
much money at all to pay it off. I only use
that one for Amazon purchases, and I haven't
made many of those lately. In terms of my
shopping I seem to be living well within my
means, but it is the standing orders for gas,
electricity, water, and council tax that take
a big chunk of my meagre income. Once summer
is over, and my gas and electric consumption
rises I will have to keep a very close eye on
my finanaces.
For now everything is OK, and one other
little thing I did yesterday was to order
another box of exotic beers to celebrate. I
can do that easily enough, and so it is a
small thing. Paying bank bills leaves me light
headed, sweating, and dizzy - in a
metaphorical sort of way ! I almost gave in to
a desire for a takeaway last night, but I
managed to resist that because that is a very
expensive way of eating. Sometimes it need to
be done, but not last night.
With finances out the way I was free to
do......nothing ! Well I guess reading is
actually something, and I did a fair bit of
that, and I spent some time on the internet.
Almost 90 minutes was spent watching another
Sherlock Holmes story from my collection of
recordings of the excellent Granada TV series
(with Jeremy Brett playing a very convincing
Sherlock Holmes.
One problem of not having any big
distractions during the day is that I often
desired to eat. I fought that most of the
time, but I did give in to one odd desire. I
felt a strong desire for a sachet of ready
made chick pea curry that I must have bought
from Aldi ages ago. Fortunately it was a very
long life product. As well as chickpeas it
contained loads of brown lentils. In fact I
would describe it as lentil curry with some
chickpeas. I thought all that fibre would be
good for me, but it hasn't done anything yet.
It was nice though.
My dinner got a bit out of hand. It was
going to be tempura chicken lumps with salad
leaves, but I changed my mind after cooking
the chicken, and decided that well grilled
bacon would go with the peppery salad leaves.
It did ! Bacon lettuce and tomato may now be a
traditional sandwich/bun filling, but it is
even nicer without the bread. I still ate the
tempura chicken as a sort of weird dessert.
It could have been the food with hot
pepper sauce, or maybe it was just the
weather, but it felt like another very sticky
night last night. The original weather
forecast suggested it might have been a
fresher night than recently, but my
thermometers said it was still 30° C in my
bedroom, and 28° C outside at 10pm last night.
I had to sleep with the fan on full. I woke at
5am and switched the fan off, but it was still
too hot in my bedroom, and turned it back on
again.
I find it hard to decide how well I
slept last night. On the surface it could have
been good. I had little problem going to
sleep, and I only have a very vague memory of
being awake for 20 to 30 minutes around 2am,
but I must admit I might be confusing that
with the night before. It was the nature of my
dreams that makes me think my sleep was often
quite poor. While I can't recount a single
dream now, I do remember something of the
nature of my dreams.
There was no specific subject matter to
my dreams. It was like I had hundreds and
hundreds of very short dreams. It seemed like
most dreams contain as little as a very short
phrase, or some sort of brief action, but with
no build up, or after effect of these things.
I guess I must be mis-remembering my dreams,
and more must have happened. While I can't
quote a single dream I can give a made up
example of what one seemed to be like. It
would be no more than me saying the words "26
miles to Nottingham", and no more. I'm not
sure I have ever experienced such brief and
useless dreams.
This morning I think I feel moderately
OK. I have yet to go to the toilet, and so
presumably those lentils have not done their
stuff yet. It makes me wonder what is coming
next......Oops, spoke too soon. I am not sure
those lentils have fully done their job, but I
can say I am not constipated this morning.
While waiting I have drunk a lot of chilled
water, and probably left it a bit longer than
usual. The result is that my blood glucose
reading was just 7.7mmol/l this morning - the
best for almost a month !
All this leads on to the question of
what to do today ? I know how I am going
start. That low blood glucose reading is a
great excuse, not that I need one, for a
breakfast of Spicy Ramen noodles. After I have
cooled off a bit after eating them, I shall
have a showers, and then......? Maybe I'll do
at least one shopping trip. I fancy stocking
up on some Polish instant noodles from the
little supermarket on Catford Bridge. They may
have other stuff of interest in there too. As
for the rest of the day - one possibility is
setting up a camera on a tripod, by an open
window to try to capture some lightning - if
we actually get any. Other than that I have a
book to finish reading, and I only have a few
shortish chapters to read now. As the climax
approaches it all gets very exciting !
