There was less rain than forecast yesterday, and certainly no thunderstorms (although I did hear there were a few claps of thunder in other parts of London). Rain did start to fall a little after 11am, and occasionally it would be semi heavy for a short time. It finished at around 1pm, and as far as I can recall it stayed dry for the rest of the day. I even recall a few seconds of sunshine at some point. It was a generally cool day by recent standards with the temperature only reaching around 22° C.
  lots
                              of rain, maybe a thunderstorm
This morning's forecast paints a pretty grim pictures, but so far it is wrong, and of course it has now been heavily revised. 8am is now shown as sunny rather than a thunderstorm. A few sunny spells follow, and the first rain is now shown to fall at 2pm, and it could be as a thunderstorm. There is a high chance of rain and thunderstorms until 7pm, and then maybe some lighter rain in the late evening. I strongly suspect the forecast will have several more major revisions before the day is over. The one constant may be the 22° C temperature this afternoon. Tomorrow may be dry, and even feature some sunshine. It will also probably be warmer with 25° C currently predicted.

Yesterday was another day when not a lot happened. The poor weather, particularly the grey light, but then actual rain dampened my spirits. It was certainly not a day to go out with a camera. However, in what seemed to be a break in the rain, but actually was the end of the rain for the day, I did go out shopping.

I only went to the little supermarket on Catford Bridge. It was an interesting experience in several ways. The air felt fresh and clean as I walked to the supermarket, but on the way home it started to feel hot and muggy as the wet pavements started to dry. The other interesting this was that because it was a short walk - 5 or 6 minutes there, and the same back - I gave a pair of boots I had bought in Aldi a few years ago another try. They are a size smaller than what I prefer, but maybe they are a wide fitting, and that is what I need most. I can't say they were 100% comfortable, but they didn't seem bad. Maybe I may try a longer walk in them sometime soon.

The prime purpose of my shopping trip was to stock up on Polish, or Eastern European instant noodles. The seem to have more diverse flavours, and while the large sized "Asian" instant noodles are very tempting, the smaller sized packets are probably better for me. In terms of flavours, there are a couple of different makes of tomato flavour, and they are rather nice, and Polish beetroot flavour is surprisingly good, as is the ghoulash flavour.

I also bought other stuff - some of which I ate yesterday. One such things was some Polish smoked pork belly. It should have been very nice, but it was disappointing. I think the main problem was that it was surprisingly lean. Once again, that is actually better for me, but over half the flavour comes from the fat. I also bought several "salad" pots.
Lentil
                              "salad"
I've mentioned these "salad" pots before, but I haven't actually shown what they are. I use the word salad because one of them is called three bean salad. The rest come in identical containers, with cardboards sleeves carrying a standard sort of design. Several of them had lentils in, and I ate three pots yesterday, but only two of them had lentils. The other was based on chickpeas. It was quite a high intake of fibre, and this morning my digestive system has reacted with joy (sort of !).

I didn't really do any other notable things yesterday except eating. After eating the smoked pork belly late in the afternoon I decided that my dinner should be no more than a couple of cans of soup. The only trouble was that I fortified both the pea and ham soup, and the bacon and lentils soup (both very high fibre !) with some grated cheddar cheese. I did that partly because I thought it might be nice (and it was) but also to use up a packet of grated cheddar that had been in the fridge for a fair time, and as it was opened I worried it might start to go green if left for much longer.

There was one trouble with those soups, or should I say several troubles. Obviously adding the cheese was not a great dietary idea - even if it was nice. The more obvious trouble was that two steaming hot bowls of soup, with added hot pepper sauce, left me sweating profusely in my already hot (28° C) bedroom. The worst thing was just as I was going to bed I burped, and got a taste of bile. I took a couple of antacid tablets before the heartburn started.

I didn't seem to have any trouble getting to sleep last night, and that was despite feeling quite hot and uncomfortable. I'm not sure what time it was when I fell asleep, but I think 10pm can't be too far off the mark. I woke up maybe 3 hours later to a sweat soaked pillow, but by then I got my first feeling that my bedroom was finally starting to cool off. For my last half hour in bed I actually pulled the empty duvet cover over me. The first time I have slept, albeit for little more than 15 minutes, with any covering over me for ages.

This morning I am definitely not constipated ! I should think my digestive tract is now almost empty, but "almost" is not the same as "definitely". It would not be surprising if I will be making yet another visit to the toilet before the morning is over. Once again I re-hydrated myself with a couple of pints of chilled water before checking my blood glucose. This morning it was pretty typical 8.7mmol/l. That is higher than desired, but OK, and just about low enough to treat myself to a bowl of tomato flavour instant noodles for breakfast.

Today, being a Wednesday, my day would revolve around seeing Angela in the pub at lunchtime - even if it meant walking through a thunderstorm to get there (although that may be closer to being real when going home again).  Unfortunately I may have made a tragic mistake. In my glee, or relief, at having paid off my credit cards, I ordered another box of beers. They will be delivered today, but as yet I don't know when. If they are predicted to arrive before or after lunchtime I should be OK, but I have a dark feeling that Sod's law may be involved. Oh well, fingers crossed !
