Yesterday was a dull day,
but it was dry, and was almost mild
with much of the afternoon 17° C.
There were a few sunny spells at 6pm -
just as the sun was about to set. The
forecast said that by 2am, the next
day, the temperature would be down to
10° C.
This morning has started at 10°
C, and strong sunshine (well maybe not
that strong while the sun was so low
in the sky). We can hope for sunny
spells for the rest of today, and the
afternoon temperature should reach 17°
C. Tomorrow will start, and remain
cloudy. That means that the day will
start at about 12° C, a degree or two
higher than today, but afternoon will
still only reach 17° C. Under a dull
grey sky that could feel quite cool.
The only saving grace may be that the
wind looks like it could be very
light, and there is currently zero
chance of any rain.
Yesterday didn't happen - or I
didn't end up writing anything. I did
start to write, but I got off to a
late start, and then I got a message
from my sister asking how I was. I
didn't have to reply there and then,
but with some recent medical stuff to
write about I sat down to tell her
about Mounjaro, how useful my GTN
spray is, and how I had suffered from
what was probably an inner ear problem
(maybe from a build up from hard wax -
which I have softened using oil in the
ear, and it does seem to have helped a
lot).
By the time I had finished my
reply to her email it was already
getting a bit late. I can't seem to
remember if it was before or after
when I had a shower. I was wary of
showering because one dizzy spell
could be a disaster while standing in
the bath. I did have one momentary bit
of doubt, but it came to nothing, and
I ended up having a good scrub under
the shower. It will be washing my hair
that will be the acid test. Leaning
over the bath is a very unstable
position, and the position itself
seemed to bring on the
dizzyness/vertigo/lightheadedness in
double quick time.
I did wonder how I would fare
walking through the park on my usually
regular Wednesday visit to The Jolly
Farmers. It would be very embarrassing
to have a dizzy spell while walking in
the park, or anywhere else for that
matter. Fortunately I was fine,
although I did experience a sort of
odd feeling that might have felt like
the prelude to a dizzy spell. That may
have happened twice, but went as
quickly as it came.
It was also an interesting test
to see if low blood pressure might
have been involved in the dizzy spells
I have had. It is not easy testing my
blood pressure with the room appearing
to spin around, but I did test it soon
after, and unsurprisingly it was high
- stress always make the blood
pressure high. Before I started
walking I had a spray from my GTN
spray, and that does tend to lower the
blood pressure a bit. There is a man I
talk to in the pub that can't use GTN
spray because it lowers his blood
pressure too much, and he faints.

I definitely had no problem
like that, and I seemed to be able to
walk quite fast. The section of
screenshot from my mobile phone on the
left shows the distance and speed of
my walks, but unfortunately it puts
the walk to the pub below the walk
back home.
The walk to the pub started at
12:34, and I used a slightly more
direct route which is apparently only
0.664 miles. I think that is
incorrect, and I forgot to take the
tracker off pause for a 100ft or
something. I expect that would affect
the average walking speed, but I think
I'll accept the stated 2.938 mph
because it is rather good for me these
days.
Back in the days when I
used to meet Angela in the pub, and I
was both fit and healthy (by my own
standards) and obviously keen to get
there, I used to reckon I could make
it to the pub in 15 minutes. Yesterday
I seemed to make it in a new record of
13 minutes and 33 seconds. I cannot
vouch for the accuracy of that, but it
did feel I was making good progress.
It is notable that I didn't stop to
take any pictures on the way to the
pub, and that must be thanks to
pre-loading with GTN spray.
I also had a spray of GTN when
I started walking back from the pub,
and maybe another quick spray along
the way (but I am unsure about that).
The walk home took an extra 5 minutes,
but I did stop to take pictures on the
way home, and that could account for
the extra time if, as I think I may
well have done, I forgot to pause he
tracker every time I stopped. It was
notable that I didn't arrive home
feeling like I was on my last legs as
is occasionally the case.
The speed and other stuff about
the walk home is all the remarkable
because I had an extra pint of
Guinness while I was in the pub (three
it total). A gut full of Guinness
swilling around usually seems to slow
me down a lot. Yesterday's visit to
the pub was not an exceptionally good
one, but I think it was one of the
better ones. There was some good
banter, and thatw as probably because
the pub was a bit quieter than usual,
and that gave Ayse more opportunities
to regale us with tales of her
misdeeds and stuff. (Not actually
serious misdeeds, but she had some
adventure when she was a bus driver).
I must admit it would have been
tempting to stay for another Guinness,
or maybe a short or two, but I
definitely didn't fancy walking home
through the park while very drunk.
Three pints was just enough to loosen
me up a bit. As I said a bit up the
page, I stopped several times to take
pictures on the way home.
The tree in the middle of this
picture looked like it was covered in
yellow flowers from a distance, but it
soon became obvious it was just bright
yellow leaves. It looked like the best
picture could be taken from the other
side of the fence around Ladywell
Arena, and it is possible I could have
gone in there, but that would also
mean taking the picture facing the
sun, and that doesn't usually work
well.
It is a shame that there are no
good stands of trees of the same type,
and a type that gives the most
glorious autumn colours. To do that I
will have to, and may actually take a
bus to Keston where the common has
many such stands of trees, and many
hang over the big ponds there for
added beauty.
it seemed interesting how this
tree had yellow leaves at the top
while the bottom still looked nice and
green. All these tree pictures were
taken in the small strip of park
between Ladywell Arena and the road.
From the trees to my front door
is just a couple of minutes walk. I
was going to say I was glad to get
home, but only for two reasons. One
reason was that unless I kept moving
it was feeling a bit cool to be out in
just a t-short and no coat, and the
other reason was related to that. I
was thinking how nice it would be to
have some hot soup when I got home,
and I did indeed have two cans of hot
soup for my
very late lunch.
I didn't really do much after
that late lunch except have a lie
down, and I think I had a snooze.
Nothing really happened after that
until it was both dinner and TV time.
I keep thinking I had cheese on toast
for dinner, but maybe that was the day
before. I know I definitely had a
small Shepherds Pie ready meal for the
main part of my dinner, and I ate it
while watching the BBC 6 O'clock news.
From then on I mostly watched
TV until the last programme I wanted
to watch finished at 11pm and I went
straight to bed. As far as I can
recall I fell asleep very quickly, and
then slept soundly, or almost soundly
until I woke up at the ridiculous time
of about 4:45am. I had woken up once
in the night for a pee, and I had one
at 4:45am, but it was as if I wanted
to get up at that time as well. I
certainly took a long time before I
could get back to sleep (where "a long
time" may have been no more than half
an hour, or possibly even less).
When I did feel it really was
time to get up, a little after 7am I
think, I went to the toilet, but only
peed. It was only just now, just after
11am, when I had a poo - another
rather hard, and uncomfortable to push
out, poo. It is a shame that poo
didn't happen until after breakfast
because it would have surely have
knocked 100 to 200gm off my weight.
This morning I have once again put
weight on instead of taking it off. I
am 500gm heavier than yesterday.
While the Mounjaro injections
do not seem to help me lose weight,
they are still doing wonders for my
morning blood glucose measurements.
The Contour meter read 7.1mmol/l. That
is pretty good, but the GlucoRX meter
was even better with a nice low figure
of 6.3mmol/l. I think I may make
6.5mmol/l my new target, and that
reading would have been lower than my
target. The usually very kind GlucoFix
meter read 7.2mmol/l. That is still
good in my book, but on this occasion
the worst reading.
After just after 1pm yesterday
Amazon tried to deliver my latest
order of some bottles of Jameson
Whiskey. Usually they deliver much
later in the afternoon - usually well
late enough to be home from the pub.
Maybe "usually" is getting a lot
earlier now. Needless to say it was
most annoying to miss my delivery. It
should be out for delivery again
today, but as yet I have had no
notification of this. I wonder whether
it is going to be one of their extra
annoying "before 9pm" type deliveries.
I had hoped to fit in a quick
shower this morning, but that well
known gas bag Lee dragged another 90%
pointless phone call out for 44
minutes while I was trying to write
this piece. Once again almost all the
morning has evaporated. I have a
feeling I will be having a quick
flannel wash today instead of a
shower. Later on this afternoon I
should be joined by Jodie, possibly
Alan, and probably Michael for some
more beer tasting. I ought to try to
be clean and fragrant enough
before I am joined by the others.
Maybe I could take a chance on a quick
shower if Amazon have not notified me
my order is out for delivery soon.
