The forecast said that yesterday would be a bright day. It certainly started with full sunshine, but that changed to sunny spells, and I remember that there could be long spells between the sunny spells - enough to make it feel a bit drab for a while. The afternoon temperature managed 17° C.
BBC_weather forecast
It is currently dull, and it seem that is how the whole day is going to be. It says it will be dry, and the temperature should reach 17° C again. It's not really an inspiring sort of day. Tomorrow should see a return to sunny spells, and possibly even two hours of full sunshine (but not two consecutive hours). No rain seems to be forecast, and the wind looks like it will be very light - good enough to go shopping, but not for any enjoyable outdoor activities.

I can't decide to say whether yesterday was a good, bad, or indifferent day. I guess it was mostly indifferent, except for one exciting moment, but more about that later. There is not a lot to say about most of yesterday, and I am so behind in writing this that I think I'll skip most of the stuff I might have said about yesterday.

The main thing about yesterday morning was the anticipation of Amazon redelivering the parcel they tried to deliver on Wednesday. Would they or wouldn't they be successful. I hardly dared breath as I waited in case I missed the doorbell. Like the day before, the driver turned up just after 1pm, but this time I was in and waiting. In fact I was waiting by my open front door just after I saw a probably van park across he road. It had no Amazon livery on it - it was a plain white van - but I somehow felt sure it was for me - it was !

                                      Jameson whiskies
This was what was in my parcel - three different Irish whiskies from Jameson's. Some would call it heresy, but I prefer Irish whiskey to Scottish whisky. The bottle on the left is standard Jameson, but it has a special label. It is the "Puma" edition, and I am unsure if it is for a sports team or for Puma sport shoes. Last night I did have a nip (and no more) from the two bottles on the right.

The middle bottle is triple distilled, and matured in three different casks. It all sounds wonderful, but I didn't think it was as good as usual Jameson. Once upon a time I asked for a Jameson in a pub, and all the barman could find was the "Stout Edition", which I think was supposed to be sold at a premium, but I got it at the normal price. It may have been because it was in a pub, and I had it to top off 4 or 5 pints of Guinness, but it seemed to taste wonderful.

I have never experienced that again. I bought a bottle of it a few weeks after that first time, and while nice, it seemed pretty normal. This latest bottle also lacks whatever tickled my taste buds all those years ago in The Swan And Mitre in Bromley. The sad thing is that it was £7 more than the cheapest bottle, the Puma edition that is their standard whiskey with a special label on it. I only had one tiny tot of it last night, and once again it seemed to have no special qualities - beyond, like the others, being very drinkable.

During the start of the afternoon I had some lunch, but I can't remember what it was (unless it was rice crackers and pate, but that could have been the day before). I had a lie down, and I may well have had a snooze. The only real activity was clearing the sink of washing up, and cleaning the work surfaces in the kitchen. Mostly I was waiting for Jodie to arrive for an afternoon beer tastings session.

Jodie arrived just after 3pm (maybe closer to 3.30pm), and Michael joined us an hour or two later.  None of the beers we had was anything worth high praise, but none were nasty - which make a slight change. (Jodie has a taste for sour fruit beers, and I hate most of them). We had a chat about this that and the other, but 15 to 20 minutes later Jodie was lost in the world if Instagram or whatever she does on her phone. it was good when Michael arrived to re-kindle some conversation.

Both Jodie and Michael left at about 6.30pm. Jodie was getting a bus to Bromley instead of her usual train to Clock House station. We finished the session with some small tasters of the new whiskies. I think we all agreed they were nice, but nothing else. The "premium" ones were no better, and maybe very slightly worse than the standard version.

I had a Tesco Rogan ghosh (I think) curry ready meal. I gave it a bit of a better kick with a good sprinkle of hot pepper sauce. Maybe it was the hot pepper sauce, or maybe something else, maybe not even the curry at all, but something gave me a sort of stomach upset. It is probably some of the fizzy lager we had was a big contributor to my problem which really only came to the fore as I was watching the last bit of TV before heading to bed.

My stomach upset started with some belching - rather more that that deserved for a good meal. As I was getting into bed I found some of those burps were tasting a bit acid. I didn't seem to have any heartburn at that time, but I still took a swig of antacid solution. That did help in one sense, but I got to start thinking that if it got only a little bit worse, and for an short while it did, I would probably end up vomiting.

At the same time as this I could also feel rumblings for "the other end". Some of the gurglings I could hear/feel made me wonder if I was going to have diarrhoea. In fact it was somehow the exact opposite. I think it was possibly later than 1am when I finally managed to squeeze out another rather hard, and large "stool". That was a complete cure for any troubles from that end, but I was still occasionally burping, and I still felt I might end up throwing up. I went back to bed with a washing up bowl on standby by my bed.

Perhaps it was the relief that I was ready for the worst that allowed me to fall asleep with no problem. It was about 2am by then and I was well overdue for a sleep, and maybe I couldn't help but fall asleep. I think I slept OK, but I am sure I got up at least once for a pee. At about 5.30am I woke up needing a pee, and I might have got up then, but I felt very tired. It was past 8am when I woke up again, and when I got up.

The first thing I did was go for another, and moderately large pee. I also had another poo. It was softer and smaller, and passed very easily. I then weighed myself, After a boozing session I expect my weight to go up because booze does give me the fiercest of nibbles and stuff. This morning losing a mere 100gm felt better than expected, and almost rather pleasing.

I don't think I ate anything with a lot of sugar in it, although some of the beers can be a bits sweet sometimes. Once again it seems the Mounjaro, wonder slimming drug, did nothing for my weight (unless it wants to claim the single 100gm I lost), but it still works wonders on my blood glucose levels in the morning.

The Contour meter read a very good 6.7mmol/l. The GlucoRX meter read an even better 6.3mmol/l. The new GlucoFix meter read  6.8mmol/l  - once again the highest reading, instead of the lowest as it used to, but it is still a very good reading, My average for today is 6.60mmol/l, and the very lowest was 6.57mmol/l 2 days ago. I have no had strings of these low readings for years and years - probably since the days when I was first diagnosed as type 2 diabetic, and I stopped drinking full sugar Cola. That made a huge difference !

Once again I feel I am running really late again, but maybe that doesn't matter much because there is only a few things I might do today. One will be to have a shower, but not to wash my hair because I am wary about what will happen when I am leaning over the bath. It is possible that could trigger some bad vertigo again, although if that happens I think I would react a lot faster to stand up and get back my equilibrium. Dripping oil in my ears, to soften and wax, does appear to be working, but I have doubts it is complete cure.

I heard from a nurse I know from the music scene. Until she retired she was a fully qualified nurse, She last worked in psychiatric wards so her knowledge may be a bit rusty, but she suggested I might have crystal in my ears. I guess that would be the equivalent to the "chalk balls" that Syd James was supposed to have in his ears when acting the part of a patient in one of the Carry On Films.

In most other ways I feel fighting fit (well, almost....) - good enough to go shopping in Aldi early this afternoon. I am unsure what else I might do. I am considering, with very little conviction, going to a gig tonight. It is in a quite cramped pub, and I am sure there will be one person there who I prefer to avoid....and my conviction to go is fast slipping completely away. Right now, although it is only half an hour until I might have lunch, I feel like a lie down, and ideally a nice snooze !
