Yesterday started out with bright sunshine, but before long the sky became cloudy, and we just had sunny spells. The sky continued to cloud over, and later in the afternoon we had some drizzle. That was followed by light rain until mid evening when it seemed to stop for the rest of the day. The highest temperature for yesterday was forecast to be just 10° C and that was only for a single hour at 1pm. However, the temperature started to rise late in the evening, and it may have risen to 11° C by 10pm, but by then I was not paying attention.
BBC_weather forecast
This morning the temperature was 10° C, and we have sunny spells....although the current sunny spell seems to be lasting an awful long time. It is almost as if it is sunny. I can see a lot of blue patches of sky at the moment, and maybe it is going to be sunnier than forecast. Even if not, the forecast does say sunny spells for most of the daylight hours. It seems there are a couple of hours when the chance of rain reaches as high as 22%, but no rainfall is actually shown. Maybe the sunny spells will help the afternoon reach a moderately warm feeling 13° C. Tomorrow morning may see a couple of hours of drizzle, but from 10am we may get sunny spells, and the temperature may rise to 14° C.

Yesterday was probably a fairly good day, but it also had a few downsides, although nothing of any tragedy. Getting my new leather jacket delivered quite early, and on a Sunday was a very good thing, but there is more to say about that later. Not so good was that I felt in the sort that is either, or both lazy and tired. I did very little in the morning, and even in the afternoon.

Once I had finished writing yesterday's piece I was able to examine my new, bikers style, leather jacket. I can confirm that it is a perfect fit, but it is thick and heavy leather - as would be expected by any motorbike ride. That means that for now it does feel rather stiff, and that spoils the comfort. With enough use it should soften up, and get more comfortable. If I do lose the weight the nurse hopes I do, it could end up as quite a loose fit. That could be good because it is going to feel hot ans sweaty with no air circulation, and even weak sunshine could be sucked up by the black leather, and it will turn to an oven inside.

I am optimistic that it will be great to wear from about now until maybe next March, and the same the next year, but that is when I would only wear it. In warmer weather I prefer bare arms to catch a few rays of sun, and generate vitamin D. I am also hoping that with enough wear, in all weathers, the rather unpleasant smell will fade. It does not smell of leather but of sweaty bikers in a steamy tea infused café.

This morning I don't really know why I never seemed to get around to having a shower yesterday morning. I was expecting a visitor, Jodie, and I would always want to be clean and fragrant in front of visitor. The best I managed was clean clothes and a top up of deodorant. I don't think I smelled bad, but you never really know how you smell to others ! I never saw Jodie flinch and I think I got away with it.

The afternoon was to feature beer - enough to get me drunk unless I took some precautions. The main precaution was to "line my stomach" with two slightly greasy Ginsters Pepper Steak slices - eaten cold and so tasting even greasier. After that I looked forward to a nice lie down, and maybe even a snooze. It was not long before I got a phone call from Jodie warning me she was going to be a bit early.

Jodie wanted to go to the Catford food market, held in the small road between Catford and Catford Bridge stations. She made a point of trying to leave a bit earlier so she had a bit more time to look around the market. Unfortunately she was relying on her watch to tell the time, and she had not changed it to GMT. In fact she say she doesn't know how to. She didn't arrive a full hour early - just 45 minutes !

One of the things I had to do in emergency (well sort of) was to give a blast of air freshener on the stairs because I had recently gone for a poo in the toilet. I used a pump action lavender spray instead of an aerosol. I don't know if it was something like an allergic reaction from walking through a cloud of spray, but by the time Jodie arrived I was coughing like I had Covid !
"cough mixture"
It seemed the perfect time to indulge in some extra special "cough mixture". It was fig, honey, and cinnamon rum liqueur. I have has the bottle, bought from Aldi, a long time, maybe 5 years of more. It has a very high sugar content and so I almost avoided it, but now, thanks to Mounjaro, I can handle sugars far better than I used to. A couple of large tots of this delicious liqueur completely cured my cough, and made me feel much better.

I think we started with a German Oktoberfest beer, and that was nice, although maybe not as nice as hoped for. I think it was the next beer which sort of surprised me. It was a beer I had bought with Jodie in mind. It was fruit sour beer, but it was not as awful as some that Jodie loves. they are so sour that you can feel your tooth enamel peeling as you drink it. Yesterday's one was the closest to being nice that I have even encountered. I could almost get to like it....one day. I'm not sure if I could have drunk a whole can to myself yesterday.

As usual, Jodie spent half the time glues to her phone, endlessly scrolling through all the sites she likes. That includes the untappd.com web site, and occasionally muttering stuff like "what is he doing there ?" when seeing that one of her beer friends was drinking at some specialist beer place. Meanwhile I had my own stuff to view and video !

We had been joined by the big Maine Coon cat I just call Fluffy Cat because I have no idea of his real name. He did his usual of meowing out side the back door, and I let him in. He never seems to like any food I put down (unless I happen to chance on the perfect flavour - one rarely found in Aldi's pouches of cat food), but he does love treat stick, and a gave him a couple of those.

While I had my back turned he leapt on to my chair and refused to listen to me saying it was my chair. Fortunately there are usually 3 chairs around the table, and I sat down where Michael usually sit. Fluffy cat was quite happy to have a very long wash, and then a semi snooze on the chair. I say semi snooze because his eyes were tightly closed, and he looked totally relaxed, but his ears were still alert to any sound.

When Jodie was ready to go and get her train I had to "awaken" Fluffy Cat with another treat stick, and then another by the open back door. He looked out while eating that last treat stick, and then decided it might look like good hunting conditions outside in the dark, and he went out. Meanwhile, I put my dinner in the microwave.

When Jodie had left as well my dinner was ready to eat. It was the Greek style meatballs with Orzo (that is actually pasta that looks like rice - I have just double checked to make sure it was not some sort of giant rice). I was hoping it would be really good, but I found it all rather disappointing. The Orzo was predictably fairly bland. There was not much sauce, and it was hard to say how nice it was, or even if it was nice. The meatballs were presumably infused with herbs and maybe garlic, but I found the taste almost hinting of being unpleasant.

Tonight I will probably have the other Greek ready meal I bought from Tesco. It is Moussaka, and I was not anticipating that being nice, but I hope I am wrong. I fear it will be mostly pasta, and pasta is usually quite bland (unless I make one of my over the top sauces for it !). Like last night, I will probably finish dinner tonight with ice cream. It sounds madness but seems to be OK most times.

After dinner (well actually during it as well) I watched some TV. It was not the most entertaining night of TV, but enough to let me unwind, and maybe sober up a bit - not that I felt all that drunk, but maybe I was, or maybe it was something else. I think I went to bed sometime between 10 and 11pm. I feel quite vague about it, but I think I fell asleep fairly quickly. That sleep did not seem to last very long.

With the clocks changing I was unsure of the time. I was not sure if the clocks actually had changed when I woke up at maybe 1am, or it might have been 2am. What I do know is that I felt awful. The main problem was a headache, but there were other things as well. It took a while to realise it, but I finally concluded I had nothing worse than a hangover - which in some cases, like last night, can be quite bad enough by itself.

It certainly demanded a couple of Paracetamol, and while I was at it I went for a big pee. I thought I might poo too, but it was not a definite feeling - that would come later. I went back to bed, and I think I probably fell asleep in mere minutes. I do remember a fairly realistic dream that featured some minor elements of real life.

The dream was about my neighbour having more work done to modify his house. It was maybe as much as 5 years ago that he had a kitchen extension, and a loft conversion done. At that time his wife, who came from Thailand, and worked at a Thai takeway, would bring me some leftovers from the takeway - often stuff she had cooked herself - as a sort of sorry for the disruption the building works caused. I was more than happy because most of it was really tasty.

In my dream there was more building work going on. The man who owns the house came to say he was sorry for more disruption, and as a sort of apology he said that while the builders, with all their ladders and stuff, were here, would I like if they gave my back wind frames a freshen up - mostly just a lick of fresh paint. I said yes, thank you, and even offered to pay for the paint. I think I probably woke up at that point because the dream seemed to come to an end.

Last night was not as cold as the previous night, but it was still cold enough that I felt more comfortable to leave the heater on low for most of the night. It was still on the thermostat, but I think it set it so high that I don't remember it ever cutting out. I felt nice and cosy on my bed, and I could have possibly slept a lot later. Once again I was all confused by the clocks changing to GMT from BST. I did not know if I had got up and hour early, or an hour later (compared to BST).

It seemed to be almost light outside, and that suggested I did get extra sleep. After a couple more nights my brain will be synchronised with GMT, and life will seem normal (or as normal as life can be) until the clocks change back to BST in the spring.  What ever time it was that I finally got up at seemed like it was the right time - almost. Over an hour later, and after breakfast, and several visits to the toilet, I do feel like a snooze would be rather nice.

I had a fair pee after I got up, and it felt like I would soon have a poo. The latter would be a little while later. I decided I would still weigh myself, and I got a bit of shock. I guess I have to blame the beer, either directly, or indirectly from the affects of the alcohol, but I seem to have put on 900gm, almost a full kilogram, since yesterday morning. That was not good news at all. Maybe a little bit of that gain was because I could not poo - I was constipated.

Once again, my blood glucose readings were good, although sadly not excellent. The Contour meter read 7.4mmol/l. That was the second highest reading this month, but at least this month has been generally lower than than September. The GlucoRX meter read 6.8mmol/l, and that was more like the sort of reading I was hoping for, and so a little better than good, but maybe still not quite excellent. The new GlucoFix meter read the highest of all three at 7.6mmol/l. Once again good, but no gold star. Maybe I did overdo the amount of sugar I consumed yesterday. Maybe today I might try and limit it a bit.

The weight I entered into my spreadsheet was after I finally managed to do a poo - not that it made a huge difference despite looking like it should have made a huge difference. I was feeling a bit uncomfortable very soon after getting up, The discomfort increased and I hoped that meant things were on the move. It got to the point where it felt like I could have an accident. Of course that was actually impossible because there was no way anything would move without a struggle - and what a struggle ! It was momentarily quite painful, but seconds later, maybe even less than seconds, whoosh, and I was no longer constipated.

That should have been the end of the story, but I think it was after I had my breakfast I realised another visit to the toilet would be a good idea. It was not really a struggle this time, but it was still a fairly heavy looking bit of poo in the toilet bowl. I felt almost happy, and you probably feel happy not to hear any more nasty details....until next time !

I can't say I feel very wonderful this morning (but at least I have no bottom discomfort now). It is my intention of taking my new leather jacket for a walk today (it is a bit too later to say "this morning"), but I haven't decided where to walk, and for how long. A walk in the park, maybe in the rain, might be the ideal for the purposes of started to wear in that stiff smelly leather. The weather forecast said there would be sunny spells instead of rain, but the sky is looking disgustingly grey right now, and rain would come as no surprise. I might go for a lesser walk - perhaps just to Poundstretcher instead - where I can but stuff to further ruin my diet !

Other than that, I am not sure what I will do today. I do have some washing up in the sink, and I may well do that. I ought to run the hoover over the dining room carpet at least 100 times to try and find the orginal colour under all that masks it (although the original purple-ish colour had faded a lot now). I could, and maybe should wash some clothes, and a change of bed sheets would be nice too. How much, if anything, of this that I actually do is anyone's guess.
