My Electronic Diary For April 2024

Friday 31st May 2024
 06:59 BST

Like some recent forecasts, yesterday's rainfall was less than forecast, but it most definitely did rain, and at least one shower was very heavy. There might even have been a distant peal of thunder, but it could have been something else. One thing not in any forecast was some sunny spells, and oddly enough, the best was between heavy showers towards the end of the afternoon.  The start of the day seemed a bit chilly, but by late afternoon the temperature had risen to possibly a couple of degrees higher than the forecast 17° C.
      dull

The Met Office forecast (as in the screenshot above) predicted drizzle, and the ground did look damp earlier. For the rest of the day, The Met Office offer no more than a 20% chance of rain at any time today, and so the chances are it will be dry, but very cloudy for the rest of today. It is worth mentioning that The BBC forecast predicts light rain for much of the day ! Both forecasters agree  that the temperature will only reach 15° C today - great weather for February ! Tomorrow could be similar to today, but feature lighter cloud, and it could warm up to 18° C.

Yesterday got off to a bad start, but the rest of the day was at least "OK", and there might have been a few good good bits. The bad thing in the morning, actually very late morning, a few minutes to midday, is that the pharmacy didn't have my repeat prescription ready. The story of this, and the rest of my day, night, and this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today.
Thursday 30th May 2024
 09:10 BST

Yesterday was pretty good. It was dry with sunny spells, and it seemed perfectly warm enough for t-shirt and shorts. The forecast temperature was 20° C, and I think that was about right.
      back
                          to rainy days again

As usual, the BBC and Met Office forecasts are rather different, although both predict rain. The BBC say possibly light rain all day long. The met Office say the rain will be on and off, but some of it could be quite heavy. The BBC predicts a thunderstorm for 3pm, but it does seem to be rare for BBC predicted thunderstorms to happen, although the version of the met Office forecast last night also predicted a thunderstorm today. It doesn't seem to have started to rain yet, although the sky is very murky. Today should reach  17° C. Tomorrow could be similar to today, but a bit cooler with just 15° C expected.

Yesterday was, on the whole, a good day, but with two not so good things, although it seems one didn't really matter anyway. These things will be explained, some with pictures, further down the page. Essentially, my day started with a shave, shampoo, and shower. The rest of my day is described, with pictures, along with my evening, night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Wednesday 29th May 2024
 08:55 BST

Yesterday was not as awful as forecast, for instance no heavy rain fell for more than a few minute. Most of it was light rain, and even when it was forecast to be raining it was sometimes dry, but still rather murky outside. I don't think the temperature rose above the forecast 16° C.
      sunny
start, but most of the day will be dull

There has been some sunshine, but now it is quite dull. However the extra dull hour at 10am, in the screenshot above, has now been replaced by just white cloud, and all yesterday's predictions for some showers today have disappeared. The chances are that there could be quite a few sunny spells today, and that may push the temperature up to a more respectable 20° C.  It could be a cool night with the temperature down to 12° C, and the rest of tomorrow could be no more than 17° C. The current prediction for tomorrow is that there will be a scattering of light rain showers - except in BBC land where an occasional afternoon thunderstorm is predicted. I suspect that like yesterday's forecast for today, the forecast for tomorrow may change beyond recognition.

Yesterday's dull and wet weather did nothing to put me in a good mood, and yet some of the day was OK. There were other reason why my day was spoiled, but I'll get to those reasons later. I guess I was lucky that I managed to find a time to go out when I only briefly passed through some moderate heavy rain. As boringly usual, my day, night, and the start of this morning, is all more fully described in my complete archived page for today.
Tuesday 28th May 2024
 09:03 BST

Yesterday was not quite as bad as forecast. There were more sunny spells than forecast, and although there was rain, it seemed to be little more than the occasional, short passing shower. It was sadly a rather cool day. I don't think I saw anythi9ng higher than the forecast 16° C, and even that didn't last long.
      heavy
                          rain approaching

The road is very wet outside, and we haven't yet had the heavy rain forecast for 9am to midday....err, now forecast to continue until 4pm according to the latest revision. After that it should be dry, and a sunny spell maybe possible, although it feels unlikely. When the rain stops on the Met Office Forecast, The BBC reckons we will have a thunderstorm. That will be in the middle of just light rain that will fall from early morning, and not stop until 10pm ! The highest forecast temperature today will be just 16° C. Tomorrow should be brighter, and there might even be a couple of sunny spells. It should be dry, and the temperature could rise as high as 19° C.

Yesterday was not a good day. There were many reasons for this. One simple one was the weather was not the sort of weather that makes me feel good, although it was probably more neutral than bad (except for a few brief times). Most of the troubles stemmed from the precarious state of my guts. My mostly sparse day, plus my mostly uneventful night, and a few good things about this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today.
Monday 27th May 2024
 08:06 BST

There were a few light showers during the day, but generally, yesterday was bright, often sunny, and it seemed to feel warm. It didn't pay enough attention to my outdoor thermometers, but I suspect that for a while it was a degree or two higher than the forecast 18° C.
      sunny
                          start, maybe very wet later

As I write this it is bright and sunny. At least half the sky is blue, but both forecasters (Met Office and BBC) say that it will soon cloud over, and from 1pm it will start to rain, although the BBC say the rain could start as early as 11am. The latest revisions seem to show a trend that suggests the rain will be light rain, and maybe (fingers crossed) no rain at all. It is going to be a cool day with forecast temperature similar to the forecast for yesterday, just 15 or 16° C, but yesterday did seem to feel warmer than forecast. Tomorrow may be dull and wet, with a similar temperature range as today.

There is good news about this morning coming later, but yesterday was probably merely pleasant, without being exciting, although maybe it was not that great because I decided to get drunk from late afternoon. I guess I can't think of anything bad about yesterday, but then again I can't think of anything good either. I have described all I can write about yesterday, plus some notes about my sleep, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Sunday 26th May 2024
 08:26 BST

Yesterday was rather a nice day. The BBC forecast came closer to reality with it's prediction of sunny spells all day. Reality was a bit better with several hours of non stop sunshine. The temperature definitely reached the predicted 21° C, and maybe hit 22° C for a brief period of time.
      wet
                          start

There was a lot of rain last night, although it didn't seem to be heavy rain. The early forecasts said it should be raining again now, but the sun is shining ! The latest revision says 9am could be very dull, but the look of the sky, white fluffy clouds, and patches of blue, suggests otherwise. The BBC says it should by medium bright, and raining now, and at 9am. For 10am they predict a thunderstorm, but The Met Office says sunny spells, and that the heavy rain, with no thunder and lightning, will be at 11am. It seems obvious that no forecast can predict what today will actually be, although there is a common agreement that the temperature will be 18° C this afternoon. On the other hand, if it should turn out that there is more sunshine than forecast, then it could get a bit warmer. Tomorrow is going to feel almost cold at 15° C. There could be random sunny spells and random showers tomorrow - hardly what I expect with June now less than a week away.

Yesterday was nothing like I expected it to be. As well as not going for a morning (or afternoon, or evening) poo, I was also suffering from really bad lower back pain (maybe even hip pain). I don't think the two things were related, but I guess it is possible. The two changed the day for me. I do my best to explain these things, plus a general description of my day, night, and this morning, in my complete archive page for today.
Saturday 25th May 2024
 07:32 BST

For some unknown reason I kept thinking that yesterday's weather was going to be a lot better than it actually was. The forecasts got it about right - some sunny hours at the start of the morning, and generally dull for the rest of the day. At least it stayed dry, and 18° C should have been good, but it seemed to be a rather cool day needing the heater on from time when being very sedate.
      maybe
                          bright and warmer

As usual, the BBC and Met Office forecasts are a bit different. The BBC thinks there will be non stop sunny spells until full sunshine from 5pm until sunset at 9pm. The Met Office say full sunshine for a few hours this morning, and that will be followed by some sunny spells, the occasional hour of full sunshine, and a few hours with no sunshine. Both forecasters say it should be warm with the temperature rising to 21° C. As seems to be happening far too frequently this spring and summer, one good day will be followed by one or more dull wet days. The Met Office say tomorrow will be bright, but there will still be light rain almost all day. The BBC predict a mix of sunny spells and light rain. The temperature may  rise to 18 or 19° C.

Although I had hopes that yesterday might be a nice day, the weather forecasts partly put paid to that, and I just didn't feel like doing anything. Some was a legacy of a poor night's sleep, and some was ultimately the depressing defects of dull weather, and feeling it should be warmer. As usual, all I can say about yesterday, last night, and also the start of this morning, is all written in my complete archived page for today.
Friday 24th May 2024
 08:58 BST

The weather was much improved yesterday, although the morning did seem to be a bit too cool for t-shirt and shorts (but I went out like that anyway). There was the occasional glimpse of the sun in the morning, but most of the sunny spells were in the afternoon. Even in the afternoon there weren't any times when the sun felt strong, but the  sunny spells probably helped to push the temperature up to 18° C - not exactly warm, but still fairly pleasant.
      sunny
                          morning

Only this morning will feature blue skies and sunshine. If the forecast is correct it will all be over by 10 or 11am. The BBC says sunny spells will resume by 6pm, but the Met Office predict a dull day from midday onwards. It should stay dry, and the temperature will probably be the same as yesterday, 18° C. Tomorrow should be a lot brighter with chinks of several hours of non stop sunshine. It should reach 20 or 21° C.

Yesterday was probably a good day. I had two short outings wearing nothing but t-shirt and shorts, although I have to confess it was probably a bit cool, and draughty for bare legs ! A very bad late evening (and a bit into the early hours this morning) sort of balanced the books to make yesterday a more neutral day, and with hindsight, not so good. All this is better explained with all the good and gruesome details, in my complete archived page for today.
Thursday 23rd May 2024
 07:06 BST

Yesterday was horrible, but maybe less horrible than forecast - certainly less than the Met Office predicted. It was more like The BBC's forecast of non stop light rain, except that there were very long gaps between light showers, often little more than a bit of drizzle, in the afternoon. A lot of the afternoon featured gaps in the showers long enough for the road outside to almost dry out. Rain or no rain, it was a dull day, although it did seem a bit brighter from mid afternoon, and if the sun had set an hour later we might have seen a glimpse of the sun. The temperature may have briefly peaked at 16° C, but 15° C was more representative of the afternoon.
dry and brighter
As I write this it is dull, but dry. The Met Office predict we will soon be getting some sunny spells, although The BBC say no sunny spells until mid afternoon. Both forecasters agree that the temperature will rise to 18° C, and possibly 19° C. The BBC predict more sunny spells tomorrow, The Met Office say less. Tomorrow's temperature will probably be similar to today.

Yesterday was an odd sort of day. During the morning when it was very dull and wet it seemed like it could be a very slow, very boring day. It was neither, but only when looked at, at a certain angle. I did one good thing, and one thing that was could ultimately be pointless, and another thing that was definitely worth doing. All my notes about yesterday, last night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today.
Wednesday 22nd May 2024
 07:55 BST

Yesterday was horrible ! There was probably less rain than forecast, but it was still very dull, and it seemed cold. I didn't keep tabs on my own thermometers, but I reckon the forecast of just 16° C was about right. That might have been almost luxury on a sunny day a few months ago, but with June just over a week away it seemed very poor.
rain
One thing is for sure - it is going to be wet today. The BBC say light rain or drizzle for the whole day. The BBC concentrate most of the rain as heavy rain until the afternoon, and then allow a few non raining hours before more heavy rain later.  I suspect the real answer is nobody knows when and how much rain there will be, but where a rain coat at all times !  Today was originally forecast (yesterday) to be a degree warmer than yesterday, but the reality seems to be it will be another degree colder. Just 15° C is forecast. Tomorrow could be dry with a few sunny spells, and it could be 17 or even 18° C.

Yesterday was a very miserable day. The weather was most depressing, and I decided to follow suite by being depressed as well. Time seemed to drag, except it didn't really. When I think back it didn't seem to be a particularly long day, and I did manage to do a few useful things. Most of what I did yesterday, plus all I can remember of my sleep, and a few notes about this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today.
Tuesday 21st May 2024
 07:41 BST

Yesterday was warm and sunny, and the sun was shining when the threatened thunderstorm at 4pm never happened, although there was a medium sized dark cloud that was visible in the sky for a short while. The temperature only reached the predicted 21° C, but that felt nice in the sunshine.
dull, miserable, probably wet later
The weather has made a big change to the worst. There would seem to be not a single sign of the sun today, and the early afternoon will be dominated by rain, and some of it could be heavy rain. It is also going to be close to cold with just 16° C forecast. Tomorrow could be a bit brighter, but still no actual sunshine, and it could be a degree warmer, but rain will be a feature for a lot of the day.

Yesterday was one of those days that had it's good moments, but ultimately it was a bad day - for reasons that I will explain further down the page. The worst thing was undoubtedly the weather - but only because I failed to take advantage of a nice warm and sunny day, although I did briefly take advantage of it when the earlier forecast predicted a thunderstorm. All this, and more is explored and explained in my complete archived page for today, which also includes notes about my night, dreams, and the start of this morning.
Monday 20th May 2024
 08:09 BST

After a dull start, yesterday turned into quite a nice day. There was a lot of sunshine, although there were several times when it went dull for a while in the afternoon. The temperature reached 22° C, but for some reason it didn't seem to feel that warm. I don't recall it being windy, and so it must have been just me.
sunny day topped off with a possible
                            thunderstorm
The funny thing is that it is the BBC who usually predict non existent thunderstorms. The BBC don't predict a thunderstorm at 4pm, and now, neither does the Met Office. After a sunny morning, and afternoon, there could still be light rain at 6pm - both forecasters now agree on this, and that suggests it may happen. Today's temperature should rise to a maximum of 21° C. Tomorrow will be a dull day, with a chance of rain later in the day. It will be cooler than today. The warmest hours may only reach 18° C. Wednesday may be the start of a run of wet days.

Yesterday was a moderately productive day, but I never took advantage of the sunshine and warmth outside. Indoors didn't always seem to feel as warm as the outside, or inside, temperature should have felt, or at least seemed like it should have felt. Most of what I did yesterday, the bad sleep I got, but the good dream I had, plus all the notes about my health this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today.
Sunday 19th May 2024
 09:23 BST

I don't think any forecast for yesterday came anywhere near describing what the weather really was. Well I guess they got the dull start to the day right, and maybe a very brief bit of drizzle mid morning, but from then on it was all rather different. The forecast said the whole afternoon would be slightly or very dull, but the afternoon was bright with sunny spells. The earliest sunny spells were weak and watery, but later one were very cheering. Once again the temperature climbed higher than the 19° C forecast. I think I saw 22° C on one occasion.
some sunshine today
The grey start today was over at least an hour before the forecast said it would be. It is now very sunny. The latest revision to The Met Office forecast shows a few less sunny spells than the screenshot above, and it has added heavy rain for 2pm, and light rain for 3pm. After that the sunny spells resume. The BBC is far more optimistic with many hours shown as full sunshine, and all other daylight hours as sunny spells. Today could reach 22° C, and maybe 23° C according to The BBC. Once again The BBC and Met Office show different forecasts for tomorrow. The BBC shows a lot of sunny hours, and the rest as sunny spells. The Met Office are far more pessimistic, and say that the first sunny spells won't happen until 10am. Until 3pm everything looks good, but than at 4pm they predict a thunderstorm ! Both give a maximum temperature of 20° C.

Yesterday included another 1 hour and 45 minute phone call from Sue. Most of what she said was almost incoherent, and I had to be very bluff and end the call before she drove me crazy. Anyway, I did managed to do a few useful things during the day, and I even managed a quick snooze. My day, and what I did, plus my night, and how I slept, plus this morning, and news about my health, is all described in my complete archived page for today.
Saturday 18th May 2024
 09:45 BST

The BBC's forecast for yesterday, which said sunny spells almost all day, was about correct. The Met Office forecast for a dull day was completely wrong. Both forecasters said it would be a warm day, with the temperature rising to 21° C , and that was right, although it didn't seem to feel right. I had to close my bedroom window a few times because it felt draughty.
grey and damp
Both forecasters give a similar forecast for this morning. They agree on some light rain or drizzle, followed by a bit of heavier rain. I'm not convinced any drizzle has fallen yet, and it is now almost 10am. The BBC says from 11am the rain will be over, but it will remain grey.  The BBC say light rain will resume from 6pm, and at 8pm there could be a thunderstorm. No sign of the sun today, but the temperature could still reach 19 or 20° C. Tomorrow will probably feature a very dull start, but there should be sunny spells later, possibly punctuated by a fall or rain, and the temperature could make 22° C.

Yesterday I was still reeling from being kept on the phone until 2am. I felt quite listless, and in the curious, and unlikely position of being too tired to snooze. I think I only ever managed one short snooze yesterday. It would probably have been the most significant thing I did yesterday - if it did ever happen ! Once again I have written a fairly brief account of a day when little happened, plus the usual notes about my night, and this morning, in my full archived page for today.
Friday 17th May 2024
 10:09 BST

The forecasters got it right when they said there would be rain yesterday, but they got the times and intensity completely wrong. All I can remember is a few hours of very light rain around midday, and the rest of the day was dry. I'm sure I can remember a few short sunny spells in the afternoon. The originals forecasts about the temperature underestimated it. Just 15° C was predicted, but I am sure my three outdoor thermometers showed 18° C at one time.
sunny morning
The BBC say sunny spells all day, but The Met Office reckon this morning's sunny spells will take a break about now, but  it is still sunny as I write this. The do say sunny spells for midday and 1pm, but the rest of the day will be dull by their reckoning. They are still confident that today will warm up to 20° C, or even 21° C. Tomorrow could be dull all day (Met Office) or light rain through the whole day (BBC). The temperature will be a degree or two less than today (which should still feel warm).

Yesterday was a good day. I even managed to get a lot drunker than I realised ! I intend to try and write very little today because I have got off to such a late start. One some good days I could be finishing writing at the same time (10:28am) I am writing this. It seems I only wrote 960 words today, and you can read all those words about my day, night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Thursday 16th May 2024
 08:46 BST

Yesterday was completely different to that predicted by the weather forecasts. The start of the morning was dull, just as predicted, but by about 11am the clouds started to break up, which they weren't supposed to. Instead of a mostly grey afternoon, as forecast, it was mostly a sunny afternoon. That even pushed the temperature up a couple more degrees to 20° C, and maybe even 21° C.
dukll and damp
There was some light mist earlier, and now the road looks damp as if we have already had some light rain. Both forecasters only show rain starting to fall from 11am this morning. The BBC predict light rain through the afternoon, and up to 8pm tonight. The Met Office say heavy rain  for a couple of hours, followed by an hour of light rain, and then just a a dull grey sky for the rest of the day.  It is going to be a cool day. The BBC say just 17° C, and the Met Office suggest just 16° C. Tomorrow should be warmer with either 20 or 21° C, and The BBC say most of the day will either feature sunshine of sunny spells. The Met Office only predict a few sunny spells, and the rest of the day will be dull, but dry.

Yesterday was an eventful day - some events were good, and others turned out to be not so good. My early start paid off. I finished writing early, and had plenty of time to have a good shower before I got ready to go out. The unexpected need for an additional poo slowed me down a bit, but I still managed to get out in time to not be late at the hospital. The rest of the rather long story about my visit to the Cardiologist, and the rest of my day, night, and the disaster that is this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today.
Wednesday 15th May 2024
 06:57 BST

Yesterday was a lot drier than forecast. The BBC forecast came closer with light rain instead of heavy rain, but even they showed too many hours of it. The afternoon included some short sunny periods when both forecasters said light cloud at their most optimistic. Even the temperature forecast was a bit too pessimistic. I saw 18° C, which while not a huge difference was still 2° higher than forecast.
dull but dry start, maybe brighter
                            later
The BBC say there could be sunny spells soon, but from the look of the sky it seems that The Met Office may come closer to reality. At the moment I would say that the sky is light grey instead of white.  Sunny spells may happen later, and 19 or 20° C is forecast for late afternoon. Tomorrow will probably be mostly dull, and rain might fall for a few hours in the early evening. 18° C is forecast by The Met Office and just 17° C by the BBC, which also throws in a lot more rain, and earlier in the afternoon.

It's a very early start this morning because I want to be showered and dressed soon after 8am, but I reckon I have just over an hour to write up a few notes about yesterday, last night, and this morning. The entire thing can be read on my complete archived page for today.
Tuesday 14th May 2024
 08:23 BST

There were several unexpected sunny spells through the day, but mostly it was dull. It stayed dry, and the temperature managed to reach 20° C.
rain !
The sky is very grey, and it is raining, but I don't think I can call it heavy rain, although it could get worse. The BBC actually says just light rain, and thinks it will finish with drizzle at 2pm. The Met Office still says heavy rain until midday. After the rain it might get a bit less grey, but the chances of seeing the sun today seem very slender. It is going to be cold compared to earlier in the month, and the best temperature may only be 16° C, although in sunshine that could still be considered warm-ish. Tomorrow could be light grey from dawn to dusk (Met Office), or feature a single hour of light rain at 1pm, and sunny spells and sunshine from 3pm (BBC). Both forecasters predict 18° C tomorrow.

Yesterday was fairly productive, and yet it didn't feel like the triumph it should have been. It was a morning when I felt like doing stuff a lot earlier than usual, and I was washed, dressed, and off to Tesco, to get some shopping, earlier than usual. My triumphs, and failures yesterday, are described along with some notes about last night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Monday 13th May 2024
 08:26 BST

I think the BBC weather forecast came closet to reality yesterday. The morning was very sunny, and the afternoon featured a lot of sunny spells. The possibility of a thunderstorm at 5pm turned out to be pure fantasy. I don't think even the sunny spells stopped. The temperature did indeed reach the predicted 25° C.
very dull start, and probably dull day
I saw no sign of any sunny spells earlier, and I see none now. It is fairly grey outside, and the forecasts suggest it will stay this way for most of the day. There might be a slight hope of some sunny spells later this afternoon. The temperature might reach 19° C (Met Office) or 20° C (BBC). Tomorrow may start very wet, but the afternoon may be dry, although still very dull. It is going to feel colder with a high of just 16° C (BBC) or maybe 17° C in the early evening (Met Office).

I think it is fair to say that yesterday was a reasonably good day. It didn't feature any high power productivity, but I did do a few useful things. Even the afternoon beer tasting session was not so bad. A few beers were actually quite nice. Most importantly it was a day when I seemed to control my eating quite well. Most of my day, night, and part of this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today.
Sunday 12th May 2024
 08:40 BST

Yesterday was warm but there was a lot of very thin cloud that slightly dimmed, and cooled the sunshine. On the plus side, there seemed to be more of the watery sunshine than the weather forecast seemed to predict. The afternoon temperature rose to the predicted 22° C.
sunny morning, but a possibility of
                            rain later
The latest revisions of the weather forecast now more closely reflect the reality of full sunshine, and that latest revision says it should last until midday. After that the Met Office only shows a handful of sunny spells, but The BBC says there should be sunny spells until sunset - except at 5pm when they predict a thunderstorm. With the temperature rising to 25° C today, there could be enough energy injected into the atmosphere to trigger a thunderstorm, but I think the BBC are just trying to be dramatic. Tomorrow will be cooler than today. Just 20° C, and there could be few sunny spells (Met Office) or lots of sunny spells (BBC), but no full sunshine.

Yesterday was both a lazy and very busy day. As predicted, in the last paragraph I wrote yesterday, I did mostly make the day up as I went along, although my prediction that I might do some laundry turned out to be right. I can count the main things I ended up doing on the fingers (ignoring the thumb) of one hand, and still have a finger left over ! My day, evening, night and the start of this morning is all described in my complete archived page for today.
Saturday 11th May 2024
 09:04 BST

Yesterday was another warm and sunny day - even warmer than the previous day. The temperature just about made it to 22° C. Now and then the sun dipped behind a cloud, but I think the day could be described as a sunny day !
dull start, but sunshine promised for
                            later in the morning
The forecast for today seems to be falling apart. It is definitely dull now, and both forecasters agree on this, but the BBC still reckon we will burst into full sunshine any minute now. The Met Office have now added an hour of light cloud at 10am, but still think there will be sunny spells from 11am. Although some hours will stay as sunny spells, many more should/could feature full sunshine. Maybe it was the long lack of sunshine this morning, but the latest revision to the Met Office forecast aonly shows a high of 21° C. The BBC are still holding out for most of the afternoon being 23° C. Tomorrow might feature a lot of sunny spells, and a splash or light rain (BBC) or not feature many sunny spells, and a couple of hours of possible thunderstorms late in the afternoon. Both forecasters predict 24° C.

Yesterday I was still feeling not so good after my very bad stomach upset the previous night, and I was a bit bothered about my weight and blood glucose readings, although, on reflection, my blood glucose readings yesterday morning were not that bad. Nevertheless I felt I had to be very careful about what I ate yesterday. All I did. all the results, how I slept last night, and all the usual stuff can be read in my complete archived page for today.

 09:23 BST

Yesterday was another warm and sunny day - even warmer than the previous day. The temperature just about made it to 22° C. There was an hour or two in the afternoon when some clouds spoiled the sunshine, and they didn't feature in any of the weather forecasts I saw.
sunshine and sunny spells
There are a few extra hours when no sunshine is expected according the latest revision to the Met Office forecast, although the BBC forecast still shows a lot more full sunshine, and sunny spells for a few hours without full sunshine. Both forecasters agree that today will be nice and warm, and maybe even tickling the bottom end of hot with an afternoon high of  22° C.  The first hours of tomorrow may start dull, but by mid morning the sun should break through for another sun filled day that may take the temperature up to 23° C.

Yesterday was another good and bad day. The ending was annoyingly bad, and the morning was hard work, but that brought it's own rewards. The afternoon wasn't bad - it involved beer ! My day including going shopping, doing laundry, and drinking beer, and the disaster that was the late evening, a reduced sleep, and some of this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today.

 08:39 BST

Yesterday was another warm and sunny day, but not quite as warm as the previous day. I think the temperature peaked at 19° C instead of 20° C.
another warm day
It is only in the last 10 or 15 minutes that the sun has finally burned it's way through a misty looking sky, but the temperature has already reached 14° C. It is possible we may lose the full sunshine by 6pm, but that is plenty of time for the sun to really raise the temperature. Both forecasters agree that this afternoon should reach 22° C. The BBC thinks that tomorrow may be very similar to today, but the Met Office say there will only be occasion sunny spells. Both still agree that the temperature should still rise to 22° C again.

Yesterday should have been a great day, but it didn't get off to a great start when I found my blood glucose was dangerously high, and after that there were many disappointments. Fortunately there were a few, rather minor, good things too. As usual, it, or at least the best bits of yesterday, last night, and this morning, are all described, with a couple of photos, in my complete archived page for today.

 07:58 BST

Yesterday had a fantastic, warm and sunny morning, but the afternoon, while even warmer, was a bit dull, and the sun did not return until early evening. The afternoon temperature was forecast to reach 20° C, and I think it did.
another warm day
The sun hasn't broken through yet, and the sky looks more misty than cloudy. Hopefully the weather forecasts are going to come true, and sooner or later the sun will break through, and from late morning until the end of the afternoon, we will get non stop pure sunshine. Only 19° C is forecast for today, but that should still feel hot when in direct sunshine. Tomorrow may reach 21° C, but most of the day may only see sunny spells instead of full sunshine.

Yesterday was a great day - warm and sunny - and it featured a sort of healthy three mile walk, but in the end I sort of ruined it all by taking a few chances about what I was eating. The problem is that I accidently rewarded myself more than I had earned. All the good and bad stuff of my day, night, and also this morning, is fully described, with pictures, in my complete archived page for today.

 08:28 BST

Yesterday was forecast to be the most disgustingly horrible day, but it was not quite that bad. The morning was very wet, and very dull, but while it didn't brighten up enough to let any sun through, it almost did. There were some random passing light showers in the afternoon, but a lot of the time it was dry. A very early version of the forecast predicted 15° C, but later on it was revised to about 13° C, and that was about the best we got.
sunny and warm
Both forecasters broadly agree that this morning will be very sunny, and that there will be a few hours in the early afternoon when it will cloud over. The sunsshould break through again for a few hours in the early evening. It should be a nice warm day. The BBC predict a high of 19° C, and the met Office predict a high of 20° C. Tomorrow, according to the BBC should be sunny all day, and the temperature might reach 20° C, but The Met Office say all the sunny spells will be in the afternoon, and the temperature will only reach 19° C - which is still very good.

Yesterday was a pretty miserable sort of day - thank you crap weather ! On the other hand it was a great day to catch up on missed sleep by snoozing whenever I felt like it. In theory this means there is very little to write about yesterday, but maybe there are a few notes about the day that I can make. Anything I could think of to write about my day, my night, and this morning only added up to just over 1000 words (or half of a typical day), and can be read in my complete archived page for today.

 09:09 BST

Yesterday almost followed the same pattern as the last few days. The morning was sunny, but it clouded over in the afternoon. There was even a sprinkling of light rain in the afternoon. Once again the temperature reached 16° C, but with no sun in the afternoon it still felt cool..
grey and miserable
The screenshot above was actually taken just after midnight when the forecast was revised for the new day.  Of course it has changed since, and for the worst. It seems it was only half an hour or so go that the first rain fell, but if the latest revision turns out to be correct, we can now expect non stop rain until 10pm tonight. Some of the rain will be heavy, and some light. Some may even be no more than drizzle, but it still all adds up to a filthy day. The best we can hope for today is just 13° C. Oh, and the BBC predict thunderstorms during the start of the afternoon ! Tomorrow promises to be a far better day. Most hours might feature some sunshine even if it is just a few minutes of watery sunshine, but some hours, particularly, but non exclusively, in the morning should feature full strength sunshine for the whole hour. It could push the temperature up to 19° C for an hour or more.

I have to admit I am struggling to concentrate on writing this morning. I feel lousy. I think it is mostly a bad weather thing, but it could all be in the mind. Anyway..... Yesterday was not a bad day, although I was feeling a mild version of today's crap version. Yesterday's mildly poor day, last night's bad night, and this morning's yucky feelings, are all described in my complete archived page for today.

 09:33 BST

Yesterday morning was fine and sunny, but on the stroke of midday the clouds because too thick for even sunny spells. It may have been an hour two later when the first rain fell. The Met Office forecast said the afternoon would just be dull, and the BBC forecast predicted thunderstorms. The BBC came closer to reality because it did rain a lot in the afternoon, but it was just persistent drizzle rather than heavy rain and thunder. The even was dry, but by then the day had been ruined. It was slightly warmer than the previous day, at 16° C.
another sunny morning
Like yesterday, this morning has started out with blue skies, and bright sunshine. The Met Office says the last sunshine will be at 11am, and the BBC say at Midday. The Met Office say a single hour of light rain at 4pm, and the BBC predict 3 hours of light rain at 6, 7, and 9pm. Both forecasters predict 17° C. Tomorrow is the Petts Wood May Fayre (that I intend to try and get to), but the outlook looks either bad, or atrocious. The Met Office say lots of mostly light rain in the afternoon, and the BBC predict thunder and lightning ! Both predict it will be about 15° C, although the Met Office say it might be 16° C in the early evening.

Yesterday started out OK. The bright sunshine was very cheerful, but the dullness, and light rain in the afternoon killed that cheerfulness. I think I started to feel depressed, and thinking that I would not be wanting to go out in the evening became a self fulfilling prophecy. However yesterday was not entirely wasted, and I did do a few useful things. It, and also my night, and this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today.
Saturday 4th May 2024
 08:24 BST

Yesterday's weather was probably halfway between the forecasts from The Met Office and BBC. The heaviest rain was in the morning, but it was rarely that heavy, and it didn't stop at 1pm, as per the Met Office forecast, but did continue in occasional light, passing showers for most of the afternoon. It was a cold day with the temperature only reaching 13° C.
sunny morning, undefined afternoon
One thing is almost certain today, and that is that it should reach 16° C, and stay there for most of the afternoon. Both forecasters say it will be, and is, a sunny morning. The Met Office says the afternoon will feature white cloud, but will stay dry. The BBC predict a lot of mostly light rain in the afternoon - some of which will turn in to thunderstorms. Tomorrow could be bright and dry with lots of sunny spells in the morning, and the temperature should reach 17 or 18° C. The day after tomorrow, the bank holiday Monday, the day of the Petts Wood May Fayre (usually good for a few bands on) may be a slight, or complete washout !

Yesterday was quite a good day, but it did have a few negative moments. Actually it did have a huge negative, 3 to 5 hours long, negative moment - the copious rain, and very dull skies ! I had to find things to do indoors, because there was no way I was going out in that ! All I did and thought during the day, and how I slept, plus how I am this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today.
Friday 3rd May 2024
 09:13 BST

Despite the warnings of thunderstorms, and persistent lighter rain, yesterday was mostly a dry day, but it was also a rather dull day. It was also a mild day with the temperature peaking at around 17° C.
rain, rain, and more rain
The Met Office says heavy rain will continue until 1pm, but at 9am it seems to have at least paused. The BBC say only light rain, but that will continue until 4pm. I have a new theory - The BBC says that light rain with an occasional short burst of heavy rain is still light rain, and the Met Office describe the same thing as heavy rain. One thing seems certain is that we won't see the sun today.  The whole day is going to be a bit cool with no more than 13° C predicted. Both forecasters predict a sunny morning, but the BBC predict a lot of light rain from 1pm, and the Met Office only predict some random rain in the afternoon. Tomorrow afternoon could see 15 or even 16° C

Yesterday was a reasonably productive day providing you define reasonable some, but not a lot. Like a lot of days recently, and maybe longer, it was generally a good day until the late evening ruined it all - and this time I am sure it was something I did instead of just chance. You can read about my day yesterday, last night, and also this morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Thursday 2nd May 2024
 07:56 BST

I don't think there was any sunshine yesterday, but at least it stayed dry - contrary to the BBC weather forecast, but agreeing with The met Office. Despite that lack of sunshine it was still a warm day, and at times it also felt quite humid. The forecast temperature was 18° C, but once again the consensus of my three outdoor thermometers was that it reached 19° C.
thunderstorm warning
You'll note that nowhere on the forecast does it predict a thunderstorm, or even any heavy rain except at 7pm. Even the BBC, who like their thunderstorms, show none on their forecast for today. However, I think I might have been woken up by some distant thunder at maybe 5am. It looks almost dry now, but the road outside looked wet at about 6am. No sunshine if forecast for today, and it looks like there will only be random light showers during the day except for heavy rain at 7pm. That seems to have survived the small changes in the latest revision. Despite the gloom it should still reach a mild feeling 17° C today. Tomorrow there is a choice of weather. The Met Office predict a dry, but dull day. The BBC predict light rain for much of the day, and once again a dull day.  Both say it will be colder. 13° C for the BBC, and 14° C for the Met Office.

Yesterday was another very enjoyable day, although things seemed to be heading for the bad at the end of the day. It never quite reached bad, but it was still a bit disappointing. The single thing that dominated the day was lunchtime in The Jolly Farmers. My whole day, my night, and some bits of dream I can just about remember, plus my morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today.
Wednesday 1st May 2024
 08:36 BST

Yesterday was not quite as good as the day before because there was less sunshine, but there was still quite a bit of sunshine, but it was just as warm. The forecast temperature was 18° C, but my thermometers said it hit 19° C mid afternoon.
dull but warm
There are two schools of thought about today's weather. The latest revision to the Met Office forecast has changed 9am to dark cloud instead of the sunny spells shown in the screenshot above. Everything else is about the same. The BBC still say there should have been a few sunny spells around now, but the clouds in the sky show no cracks where the sun could shine through. The major difference is that The BBC predict rain, including a thunderstorm for the first hours of the afternoon, but sunny spells in the evening. They also predict a couple of hours at 19° C compared the The Met Office's single hour at 18° C. Tomorrow could start very dull, but it may brighten a bit as the temperature rises to 18° C, and there may be light rain for the evening. The BBC broadly agrees with this forecast, but, as usual, tomorrow may actually be completely different to the forecast.

Yesterday was a very productive day, but I really wanted to go out for some exercise. I couldn't do that because I was expecting a parcel delivery from Amazon. It actually arrived fairly early at about 2pm. In theory I could still have gone out for a walk around the park, but I don't seem to have much enthusiasm to go out once the afternoon has started. All my productivity, and other stuff yesterday, including about my night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today.
