My
Electronic Diary For August 2024 |
Saturday 31st August 2024 |
09:10
BST
My lasting impression
of yesterday was that it was often a bit grey.
There were sunny spells, and even full sunshine,
but even then the sky was white instead of
blue. The temperature reached just 23° C,
and that felt good enough.
There in autumnal
look to the light this morning. If we don't
get the sunny spells from 1pm it is going to
feel like it is autumn. The temperature will
only rise to 21° C, and that feels like
another clue that autumn is just around the
corner. Tomorrow might start with a splash of
light rain, but sunny spells are predicted to
start from 7am, and continue until sunset.
Rather remarkably it is expected to reach 27°
C tomorrow.
Yesterday was a sort of disaster, and it was all the fault of that person named Lee. He was supposed to call at about 10am to say he was on his way here. He actually called at 11:19am to say he was just on his way. Using a very frequent bus service, and maybe a 6 or 7 minute walk at each end, he should have arrived no later than an hour after that call. The rest of my day was terribly eventful, but it, my night, and this morning, are described in my full archived page for today. |

BST
Yesterday was warm,
dry and sunny until 2pm when there were only
sunny spells. The temperature reached just 22° C,
but that seemed to feel good enough.
Today continues the
run of good weather. Between 2pm and 5pm there
may only be sunny spells, but before qand
after should see full sunshine. The highest
temperature should be 23° C today. Tomorrow
could be a bit cooler, but it should still
reach 21° C. Only sunny spells are expected,
and some of the morning could cloudy enough to
completely block the sun.
Yesterday was another day didn't have an ideal ending, but it was still fairly good. After my terrible sleep on Wednesday night, it was good that I had nothing that I needed to do yesterday morning, and I could spend the entire morning in glorious 3D laziness - mostly reading and snoozing. After midday I had to start doing stuff. As usual, the rest of my day, night, and so far this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was warm,
dry and very sunny. The temperature reached 27°
C, but at the same time it was
quite a humid feeling day, and felt quite sticky
- particularly in the evening.
This morning has
started off bright and fresh. Full sunshine
should continue until 1pm, and then there will
be just sunny spells. The temperature may only
rise to 22° C today. Tomorrow maybe
almost the same as today, the forecast shows a
peak temperature of 23° C.
Yesterday was another day that started well, but did not end well. The great start was not just a surprisingly low body weight, fair blood glucose measurements, but the smug knowledge that my changing the big "spinning rust" hard drive in my PC, with a solid state hard drive, worked, and I am happy to say it continues to work well. My day yesterday is described, along with my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday
was warm, dry and very sunny. It is a shame the
temperature only reached 24° C
It's a shame that today will not be a
bit sunnier. Apart from at midday and 1pm, when
there may be full sunshine, the day will only
feature sunny spells. As I write this the sun is
behind a cloud, and the whole sky looks a bit
cloudy. The temperature could still rise to the
forecast 27° C today. Tomorrow could be mostly
very sunny, but only 23° C.Yesterday could be described as exciting, or maybe traumatic, or perhaps interesting....or something else. The whole day revolved around waiting for my Amazon delivery, and what I did with some of the bits I received. What was delivered was two solid state hard disks, and two class 5 (one claimed to be a class 5.3) USB Bluetooth dongles. My day, night, and the start of this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday
was a curious day. The forecast sunny spells were
very sparse, and a lot of the day seemed a bit
dull. However, it was dry, and it did feel warm
thanks to light winds. The temperature did seem to
reach the predicted 23° C
It seems the Met Office weather
forecast for today might be more accurate than the
BBC forecast shown in the screenshot above. As I
type this it is a bit cloudy, but there does seem to
be some weak and watery sunshine seeping through a
thinner bit of cloud. If the forecast turn out to be
mostly correct then the clouds should disperse soon
to give full sunshine all day long. That should
raise the temperature up to 24° C. Tomorrow may only
see sunny spells, but the temperature could reach
26° C.After a terrible sleep where I barely got half the sleep I needed, and that sleep being of pretty poor quality, plus a sort of tenderness after the stomach upset that caused the lack of sleep, yesterday morning did not get off to a great start. It took a lot of will power to write the 1,893 words that I apparently wrote yesterday. I shudder to think how many words I missed out, and how many words were misspelt, plus the grammatical mistakes I made. This morning I may have done better to describe yesterday, last night, and the start of this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday
could have been a nice day, there were many sunny
spells, and it was dry, but it was often very
windy, and that wind felt rather chilly. The
maximum temperature was only 19° C, and on a calm
day, while the sun was out, that might have felt
good.
A slightly odd view of this mornings
weather forecast above. I took the screenshot before
6am, and at that time it wanted to show the forecast
for the last hours of yesterday, which apparently
ended at 6am. This morning there have been a few
sunny spells, but there is a lot more cloud than the
forecast seems to predict, and even now it still
seems mostly gloomy out. Hopefully the clouds will
break up, and we will get some longer periods of
sunshine, but like in the screenshot above, the
latest revision to the forecast still only shows
full sunshine for the last hour before sunset. Today
should hopefully peak at 23° C. Tomorrow is forecast
to have 100% full sunshine during daylight hours,
and that should push the temperature up to 24° C.Yesterday was generally good, but my night was a complete disaster. I'll explain that further down the page. After I finished writing I treated myself to a shampoo and shower. From the feel of it, I probably should have had a shave too. After allowing enough time to cool down, I got dressed, ready to go out. It was no exotic outing, just a trip to the shops. This, and the rest of my day are more fully described in my complete archived page for today, and it includes some notes about my awful night, and this not so great morning. |
Sunday 25th August 2024 |

BST
Yesterday
was a pretty foul day. However, it could have been
worse. The forecast predicted loads of heavy rain,
but I only observed a few short periods of heavy
rain. The rest of the rain was moderately light,
and sometimes there was no rain at all. It wasn't
always that gloomy. There were a few odd minutes
when the sun did break through the clouds, albeit
rather weak and water sun. At other times it
seemed to be quite bright despite there being 100%
cloud cover. It was still a rather cool day with
the temperature not really getting above 17° C.
The sky cleared overnight, and that
meant a very cool morning. The forecast for 6am said
just 11° C, but I reckon it was 12° C. It is bright
and sunny as I write this, but soon it will degrade
to just sunny spells, and between 3 and 5pm we could
lose any sunshine, although it should be back again,
as sunny spells, by 6pm until sunset. Yesterday's
forecast was more optimistic about today, but now it
seems the warmest it will be could be just 19° C.
Tomorrow may be warmer, at 23° C, but most of the
day will only see sunny spells. It is odd that yesterday the weather was so disgusting that I wanted to hibernate, but I was actually quite busy (provided you accept a slightly odd definition of "busy"). I only did one thing I predicted I might do, but I found other stuff that seemed to make the day pass without feeling bored. This is all sort of explained in my complete archived page for today, that also includes notes about my night, and this morning. |

Apart
from the wet start, most of yesterday was a nice
sunny day until it started to get a bit cloudy at
the end of the afternoon. I forgot to check, but I
think the temperature reached the forecast 22° C.
Oh dear, it seems the forecast is
almost right. I think I would describe it as medium
heavy rain, rather than full heavy rain, but it is
most definitely wet outside ! The rain may slacken
off after 1pm, but then at 6pm there could be a
thunderstorm. That didn't appear in yesterday's
forecast for today, but it has survived at least one
revision so far this morning. Of course, The BBC do
like to slip in a thunderstorm to their forecasts
from time to time, and it is rare that there is
actually one. The Met Office forecast generally
agrees with the BBC forecast, but it doesn't show
any hint of a thunderstorm. It is going to be a cold
day with a maximum of 17° C. Tomorrow should be
brighter, dry and with some pleasant sunshine, but
it will still only just make 19° C.It seems I am off to a very late start this morning, and there are various reasons for it. Most will be described later, but one simple one to start with was getting up a lot later than usual. There was a good reason for that, and it too will be described further down the page. My complete archived page for today describes my whole day, plus my night, and some notes about this morning. |

Yesterday
was often rather dull, but there was almost no
rain, not even drizzle. Neither forecaster (BBC or
Met Office) showed the morning as dry, but it was
as good as. Both predicted some sunny spells in
the evening, but I can't really say they left any
impression on my memory. It was a slightly cool
day with a genral afternoon temperature of just
19° C, but there was probably a brief peak to 20°
C.
The ground was wet when I first opened
the curtains, but it seemed like the rain had
stopped by then (approx 8.30am), and the first rays
of the sun could be seen through a small hole in the
clouds. The sky is now just about clear, at least an
hour earlier than forecast, and we have nice
sunshine. If it lasts, as per the forecast, it
should drive the temperature up to 22°C. Tomorrow
could see a lot of rain. In fact it could almost
rain all day, and much of the rain could be quite
heavy. It will also be a cool day with a max of 17°C
currently forecast.Yesterday was an almost good day. Perhaps it was an OK day. With hindsight it was possibly even very slightly good, or to put it another way, my perceived sins appeared to come to nothing. All will soon be explained - I hope. Those potential, but now apparently not sins, were to do with what I ate yesterday. What I ate, plus most other stuff I did yesterday, how I slept, and the usual notes about my morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

BST
Yesterday started
off nice and bright and sunny. It seemed
like the start of a good day, but as per
the forecast, the sky lightly clouded over
in the early afternoon. The cloud was not
dense enough to stop it seeming to be
bright, but it was a very flat sort of
illumination. I seem to recall seeing a
few brief bursts of sunshine before the
evening when it did brighten up a bit
more. While walking the peak temperature
of 21° C felt
warm, but while sedentary it did
feel a bit cool.
It
wouldn't be too much of an
exaggeration to describe today as cold
and wet. The BBC predicts this morning
will be very dull, but dry, and then
there will be drizzle for a couple of
hours this afternoon. The Met
Office predict a bit more rain, and
shows light rain from as early as 10am
to midday. The rest of the afternoon,
according to both forecasters will be
very grey, but possibly dry. Both also
agree on some sunny spells of early
evening. The BBC are convinced there
will be a single hour at 20°
C, but generally
19° C can be
considered the high today. Early
tomorrow could be wet, but the middle
of the day could feature strong
sunshine, and that could push the
temperature up to at least 23° C.
° C. Soon after I finished writing yesterday, I had a shock that cast a black cloud over yesterday, and there are still echoes of it this morning. I looked more closely at the order confirmation I got from Amazon for the order I was expecting by yesterday at the latest. On my original look I was word blind. An explanation for that, plus a description of the rest of my day, night, and the start of this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |

Again, yesterday may
have still been warm according to my
thermometers, but contrary to the weather
forecast, it was a mostly grey day with
enough wind to make 22° C feel
chilly.
We're off
to a good start. I think the
temperature was closer to 12° C at
7am, but the sky was blue (which
caused the temperature
to drop so far), and the sun was shining (albeit
below the roof line of houses to the east). If the
forecast continues to be correct, which seems
unlikely at the moment because the sky seems to be
almost covered with thin white cloud, we should
have at least sunny spells until midday. After
that it may be too cloudy for any sunshine, but at
least it should stay dry. The temperature should
peak at 3pm, but with no sunshine it might feel
cool enough, at 21° C, to maybe need a
light coat if I am outside. Tomorrow
may start with some sunny spells, but
most of the day may be dull, and for
much of the afternoon it could be
extremely dull. The temperature is
only predicted to rise to 19° C, but
it should stay dry. The long range
forecast still predicts some quite
warm days towards the end of the
month, but tomorrow it is probably
going to feel that Autumn is just
around the corner.
° C. In case you are curious, my packet from Amazon, with my class 5 Bluetooth USB dongles, and a few other things, did not arrive yesterday. By midday I was 99% sure I would not be getting a notification to say they had been despatched, and one their way. That left a rather large gap in my afternoon plans. What I did during the rest of the day, my night, and also this morning, is all revealed in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 20th August

08:54
BST
Yesterday may have
still been warm according to my
thermometers, but contrary to the weather
forecast, it was a mostly grey day with
enough wind to make 22° C feel
chilly. There was also a very light
splash of rain at about 6pm. It was
not a nice day.
Both
forecasters agree that 5pm will see
full sunshine until sunset, but the
BBC (screenshot above) and The Met
Office paint
a different picture for earlier in the day. Maybe
the BBC forecast has got off to good start by
saying 7am would be dull and cloudy, but then
reality diverged, and now, 9am, it is still very
dull outside, and the chances of seeing any
sunshine soon seems very unlikely. A high of 22° C today
should feel warm, but if it stays dull
and grey like yesterday, it may be no
better than "mild" - maybe more suited
to October. Tomorrow could start off
very chilly with just 12° C, but
it will warm up to 21° C by
3pm, but then we may lose the sunshine
and sunny spells to leave most of the
afternoon very dull.
° C. Yesterday was very strange. I was still feeling very slightly depressed, and the weather not obeying (!) the forecast, and it actually being very grey for a large amount of the day, did little to enthuse me. By midday I still hadn't been notified that my packet from Amazon had been despatched. That effectively mean my whole afternoon was open to me. What little I did, plus other stuff about the afternoon, my night, and this morning, are described in my full archived page for today. |

08:54
BST
There were a few
times when the sun was behind a cloud, or
clouds, but most of yesterday was bright,
and with the temperature reaching 24° C it
all made for a pleasant day.
Today
could almost be a re-run of
yesterday. There will be a mix of
sunshine and sunny spells, and the
temperature should peak at 23° C. The
big difference
might be at 10pm when rain is forecast. That rain
could have been the herald for a bad day tomorrow,
but in the latest forecast, tomorrow is shown as a
mostly OK, although the first few hours could
feature light ran or drizzle. It will be a cooler
day with only 21° C forecast. By
comparison with a lot of this month,
that could almost feel slightly
chilly.
° C. I was still peeved at missing Chislehurst Rocks, and I guess I felt a bit depressed yesterday. I was also feeling very tired after speaking to Sue (or maybe Sue was speaking at me) so late the previous evening. It was a powerful mix to ensure that yesterday could not be called enjoyable or very productive. Nevertheless, I did do a few things worth recounting in my complete archive page for today, and which also has notes about last night and this morning. |
Sunday
18th August 2024 |
09:26
BST
Yesterday was nice.
It was warm, dry and sunny nearly all day,
although there were a few short periods of
dullness that were probably too brief to
be included in the weather forecasts.
Although warm, it wasn't really "hot" with
the temperature only reaching about 23° C.
Today will
be a lot like yesterday. After a cool
start it should warm up to 24° C thanks
to lots of sunshine. Tomorrow may
start a degree cooler after night of
mostly clear skies,
but apart from that it should be another day
almost identical to today, and almost the day
before yesterday. Tuesday could be as warm, but
could feature a mix of sunny spells and showers,
but by the time Tuesday arrives it could be
completely different to today's forecast.
° C. On the whole, yesterday was not a great day. The main, maybe only bone of contention was not going to Chislehurst Rock. I would have liked to have gone, but just too many negative aspects stopped me. I am maybe even more peeved now because some pictures I have seen of it suggest the front of the stage was not jam packed as I feared it would be. More about this, plus some notes about the rest of my day, night, and this morning, in my full archived page for today. |

It took longer than
forecast for the clouds to clear, but by
11am it was turning into a nice day. There
were still a few dull periods, but there
was a lot more full sunshine. The
temperature rose to 25° C,
albeit maybe just for a single hour.
Most notable was how quickly it
cooled down during the night.
At 6am it
might have been as low as 13° C, but
the sun was already adding some warmth
to the day. Now the sun has risen high
enough it is feeling like a slightly
cool summers day. By mid afternoon it
should have warmed up to 23° C. That
is not that warm, but warmer days may
be on their way. Tomorrow should see a
mix of sunny spells and sunshine, the
majority should be sunshine. That
should warm tomorrow up to 24° C.
The day after tomorrow could be very similar. the
last few days of the month could be even warmer,
but that is so far ahead that it could equally be
snowing.
° C. Yesterday was not particularly an exciting day, but in a sometimes slightly dull way, it was fairly productive. The good news is that I did two things to check how well my new patch on the crack of my bathtub was working, and it seemed to be perfect. How long it lasts before I have to redo it is anyone's guess, but for now, everything is fine. The rest of my day, night, and the start of this morning is described in my complete archived page for today. |

08:37
BST
I'm not sure that
either The BBC or The Met Office got
yesterday's weather forecast right. The
met Office said sunshine all day, and The
BBC said sunshine until mid morning, and
then sunny spells until mid afternoon.
What I seem to remember was that between
sunny spells there were hours when it got
quite dull, but there were a couple of
short sunny spells well after the official
cut off time. The temperature still
reached the forecast 23° C, and
there were some light showers late
in the evening.
This
morning started dull, and a bit damp
looking after overnight rain. By now
we should be well into the forecast
sunny spells, but as I type this there
have only been a few flashes of
sunshine through a still cloudy sky.
Hopefully the clouds will soon burn
off, and we will get the forecast pure
sunshine until sunset. By mid
afternoon the temperature should have
risen to 25° C.
Tomorrow is currently forecast to be very sunny,
and with a peak temperature of just 24° C.
° C. I didn't feel all that good yesterday, and it was mostly due to losing so much sleep during the night. The loss of sleep was because I was rather regularly going to the toilet until 3am yesterday morning. Fortunately my guts seemed to have settled down by yesterday morning, and although I was aware of them, they didn't seem to cause me any more trouble. My day, night, and some notes about this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday
15th August 2024 |
08:18
BST
Despite the
rather gloomy forecast, yesterday was not
such a bad day. I don't think any of the
threats of light rain materialised, and
there were quite a few sunny spells
through the day when none were forecast.
The temperature reached a warm feeling 24° C.
The BBC forecast only
shows sunshine for half the day, but the Met
Office shows sunshine or sunny spells for
the whole day. The Met Office also don't
show any rain for late this evening. The BBC
predict a peak of 23° C, and
the Met Office predict a peak of 24° C.
Tomorrow may start dull, but there
could be sunshine from mid morning,
and the temperature should reach 25° C.
° C. Yesterday was one of those days that was very pleasant until the evening when it all went horribly wrong. The seeds of the horrible portion may have been set 24 hours earlier, but the actual cause remains a mystery. The simple description is that I have been recently suffering from some sort of stomach upset. I've tried to keep the unpleasant parts brief, but my whole day, night, and morning is described in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday
14th August 2024 |
08:13
BST
Yesterday was
almost exactly as forecast. There was
almost non stop sunshine from sunrise to
sunset, and the temperature reached a
pleasant 25° C.
There doesn't seem to
be any of the drizzle that the forecast
predicts, or none yet, but it is rather
dull, and it seems all of today will be
dull. Light rain is still forecast for 9am
and for 5pm, but the forecast does say there
is only a 33% chance of it happening, and
that low figure usually means it won't
happen. Despite no sunshine it should still
reach
24° C this
afternoon. Tomorrow
should start with full sunshine, but only the
first half of the afternoon will feature sunny
spells, the second half will be dull. It will be
very slightly cooler, and just 23° C is
forecast.
° C. I thought my busy day, the day before yesterday, had left a legacy that slowed me down yesterday. I didn't specifically ache, but I felt reluctant to do any "hard" work. Much later in the day I realised there was another problem, but I'll mention that further down the page. For what it is worth, my day, plus my night, and some notes about this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was
definitely quite warm. The morning started
dull in complete defiance to what the
weather forecasts predicted, and there
were also some dull periods in the
afternoon instead of the forecast strong
sunshine. At one time I thought a
thunderstorm might be brewing, but the
clouds passed over again to reveal the sun
in all it's glory. The highest temperature
I saw on my thermometers was 31.8° C,
which is pretty close to the
forecast 32° C.
This morning is almost
fresh, but it has started with full on
sunshine. The sunshine should continue until
sunset, but today will not be as hot as
yesterday. Just 25°
C is forecast.
Tomorrow may
feature a
light splash
of rain in the
morning, and
most of the
day will be
dull, but
sunny spells
might be
possible for
the last few
hours of
daylight. The
temperature
should peak at
just 23° C.
° C. Yesterday was a very busy day in way's I couldn't have foreseen. The first significant thing yesterday was foreseen, and it was to test my new kettle for real. There isn't much to say about such a mundane thing. It boiled water, and I used that to make my instant noodles, and that is about it. The rest of my day, with a few pictures, is described along with notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was
quite a good day, but there were notable
gaps in the sunny spells that left it
feeling a bit dull. However most of the
day was bright, and the early evening
particularly so. The temperature peaked at
around 27° C.
So far this morning it
has been cloudy, and I don't think I have
seen any sunshine, although there are some
blue areas of sky that the sun could shine
through if they were in the right position.
Both the BBC (as above) and The met Office
predict full on sunshine all day today.
Maybe the sun will appear soon ! Both
forecasters predict the temperature to soar
to
32°
C today. Clear
skies tonight
will allow it
to cool down
overnight, and
tomorrow may
start at a fresh 16°
C. It should
start sunny
tomorrow, and
the sun is
predicted to
shine all
day long, but the temperature may only peak at 26°
C. The day
after tomorrow
will be
duller,
cooler, and
may even
feature a spot
of rain.
° C. Yesterday was one of those days when I didn't do all that much, and yet I did do a lot of what I intended to do. One thing didn't happen. At about midday I got a call from Jodie to say she had spent the previous 2 days at beer festivals, and felt she had had her fill of beer until maybe much later in the day than when we usually sample beers, So no Jodie yesterday. I ended up doing other stuff, and you can read all about it in my complete archived page for today, and it includes notes about my night, and this morning. |

Yesterday was
quite disappointing. The early morning
sunshine was nice, but by 10am that seemed
to be over, and the clouds became thicker,
and darker. Most of the afternoon was very
dull, and depressing. The sun only half
broke through in the last couple of hours
of daylight. For all that, the temperature
still peaked at 24° C.
As I write this the
sun is too low in the sky to provide proper
sunshine, and the sky is a bit cloudy. If
the latest revision is correct, there should
be full sunshine from 9am, and it will
continue for 10am. After that there will be
sunny intervals until 6pm when there may be
full sunshine until sunset. The temperature
should peak at
27°
C.
Tomorrow is
currently
forecast to be
non stop
sunshine from
sunrise to
sunset, and
that should
take the
temperature up
to 32°
C.
° C. Two things influenced my whole day yesterday, and maybe it was only those two things combined that meant I didn't do much at all yesterday, and what I did do was not a 100% success. Those two things were the gloomy weather, and the long wait for my postal delivery. All I did, which wasn't much, during the day, how I slept, and what I dreamed about, plus how healthy I might be this morning, is all reported in my complete archived page for today. |

The sun was
slightly late breaking through the clouds,
but once it did, between 9 and 10am,
yesterday turned in to a nice sunny day.
It was also quite warm towards the end of
the afternoon at 24° C.
We've had some sunny
spells this morning, but it seems they are
now over. The rest of the day until early
evening, when sunny spells may return, is
going to be dull, but dry. Once again the
temperature should reach
24°
C, but under a
dull sky it
will probably
feel rather
humid. Apart
for a few
hours around
midday,
tomorrow
should be nice
and bright
with mostly
sunny spells,
but full
sunshine may
start towards
the end of the
afternoon. The
temperature
could peak at

I didn't really do much yesterday, but I felt like I had been busy only doing two significant things. I was still feeling something like mild fatigue, although I have an idea it was partly, or maybe all in the head later in the afternoon. Curiously enough, one thing I did, which I do at least 6 days out of every week, having a shower, seemed to leave me feeling very fatigued. The rest of my day, night, and this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday
morning started bright, but by mid morning
it was getting cloudy. Despite none
appearing in the forecast, there were
sunny periods in the afternoon. Only a
single time was forecast for a shower, but
we definitely had more than one, and maybe
some late at night too. The temperature
reached 20° C, and
that seemed warm enough, but maybe a
bit humid.
This morning almost
started off gloomy, and it is only now, 9am,
that the sun has broken through. If the rest
of the forecast is somehow correct, we can
expect full sunshine from
I guess yesterday could be described as a mostly good day. I guess I felt good enough to almost control the worst of any eating errors, and it was a good enough day to reconsider my decision to most definitely not go to Chislehurst Rocks on Saturday 17th August. I have reduced my negativity to "most unlikely to go". My whole day, plus a long dream last night, and some notes about this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday
morning was bright and sunny, but the
afternoon was quite dull. At about 1pm it
tried to rain. I felt some fine rain
hitting my face for a minute or two, but
then it stopped. The temperature felt OK,
but it was only forecast to briefly reach
22° C. Most of the afternoon was between
20 and 21° C.
Today may be a more
extreme version of yesterday. Once again the
morning has started bright and sunny, but it
will very soon cloud over, and by 1pm the
clouds could be very thick and dark. There
could be several hours of light rain from
5pm. This afternoon's high will be just 20°
C, and that
seems very
poor for early
August.
Tomorrow could
start dull,
but the sun
should soon
break through,
and the
afternoon
could be very
sunny. That
should push
the
temperature up
to 25°
C.
Half of yesterday was good, and the second half was bad. I'm not really sure why, but I could blame the weather because my mood did follow the weather quite closely. The day before yesterday was a busy day, I didn't expect to see anyone, and so I didn't stop to have a shower. Yesterday it felt good to wash my hair, and have a good scrub under the shower. My day, night, and this morning, are all more fully, and badly spelled*, in my complete archived page for today. * I seem to be suffering from terrible brain fog this morning. |

Yesterday
brought a mix of sunny spells, some dull
periods, and even some rain. The rain
lasted for far less time than forecast,
although for a short time it was also
heavier than forecast. Much of the
afternoon featured sunny spells, and the
temperature reached 24° C.
It is certainly bright
and sunny as I write this, but the forecast
says the sunshine will soon give way to just
sunny spells. The afternoon may be mostly
dull. The Met Office generally agrees with
the BBC forecast in the screenshot above.
Both agree that 22°
C is all we
can hope for
today.
Tomorrow could
start bright
and sunny, but
like today it
will soon
cloud over.
The afternoon
could be very
dull with
rather dense
clouds. It
will also be a
bit colder
with no more
than 20°
C°
C
expected.
Yesterday brought some rewards. Some of those rewards would not be realised until this morning, but maybe the best reward was finally finishing all my photo editing. For me, photo editing is a mix of tedium, excitement, and sometimes great satisfaction upon discovering I have somehow taken a great photo. Today's complete archived page contains many more photos, plus the good news this morning, and some notes about my day, and night. |

Yesterday
seemed to be almost hot at times, and yet
the temperature only reached 25° C. Most
of the day was either very bright, or just
bright enough from sunny spells. The very
bright was, of course, non stop sunshine
from an almost clear sky.
Summer is taking a
rest today. I did wake up to mostly clear
sky, and nice sunshine, but it clouded over
quite early, and much of today will be dull.
Even worse than that is that light rain is
predicted for 11am to 1pm (in the latest
revision). The sun should return by around
5pm. Today may not be much cooler than
yesterday, with 24°
C predicted.
Tomorrow
should start
of bright and
sunny, but it
may cloud over
by 1pm, and from
then on it will be dull. It will also be a
little bit cooler with just 22°
C predicted.
Yesterday felt like a busy day. I seemed to have lost the little burst of energy I had on Sunday, and that probably made the day seem busier than it could have been. It almost seemed like I spent the whole day photo editing, but that was not the case. I did rest my eyes a few times, and I did go out shopping. There are plenty of examples of my photos, plus a description of my day, night, and morning in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was
another pleasant day with lots of sunny
spells, and the temperature reached 22° C
- so also a little bit fresher too.
I feel I have made the
right decision to use the BBC weather
forecast here after the Met Office forecasts
never seemed to match reality. This morning
they said just sunny spells, but the BBC
says full sunshine for early this morning,
and that is exactly what we still have right
now. The Met
Office predict
several rather
dull hours
soon. The BBC
predict sunny
spells, almost
non stop until
7pm when full
sunshine may
return until
sunset. Both
forecasters
predict a high
of 25°
C today. The
temperature
tomorrow may
only reach 23°
C, and there
will be less
sunshine.
There could
also be a
shower or two.°

It seems like Saturday's Petts Wood Calling festival sort of rejuvenated me. I was feeling surprisingly good yesterday. It proved that if I took some sensible precautions I could still enjoy a day out, and while not much strenuous activity, I was quite active. I think it has inspired me to try and get out a bit more, but today won't be one of those days. Most of my day yesterday, plus the evening, night and this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was generally
bright and dry. A couple of showers were
forecast, but disappeared from later
forecasts. It was a warm day, but not hot,
although high humidity often made it seem
rather sticky. The maximum temperature was
probably just 23° C.
So far this morning it
has been rather dull, but the latest
revision to the forecast insists we should
be having sunny spells until 1pm. After
that, most
of this
afternoon
could be a bit
dull. The best
we can hope
for today is
just 22°
C. Tomorrow
may see mostly
full sunshine,
with sunny
spells for a
few random
hours that
don't feature
full sunshine.
It should end
up a bit
warmer with 24°
C being the
highest
predicted.
Yesterday turned out far better than expected. What I thought might be possibly painful, and a chore, turned out to be mostly enjoyable. Even a few on the spot decisions turned out well. Yesterday was Petts Wood Calling day - a one day music festival to raise money for charity. As well as a longer description of my day, night, and this morning, there are a few pictures I took yesterday in my complete archived page for today. |

There
was no sign of the forecast fog or mist
(except for maybe an almost imperceptible
haze) yesterday morning, but until 10 or
11am it was rather dull. There were
a few hours of sunny spells before almost
non stop sunshine until aolmost sunset. It
raised the temperature up to a pleasant
26° C.
With today being Petts
Wood Calling day, I have been paying a lot
of attention to the forecast for today.
Yesterday morning it was still predicting
thunderstorms for today, but at the current
time just light rain for 8am, and 1pm is the
only rain forecast. Until 2pm it will
probably be rather dull, but from then on it
should be mostly bright. It may still be a
slightly cool day with
just 23° C
forecast.
Tomorrow
should be
mostly bright,
but only 22°
C.
Tomorrow was one of those odd days where I seemed to feel a lot better in some ways, and yet I often still felt a bit crap. Maybe it was not so odd, and it probably happens every time you are in that sort of no man's land between ill and healthy. Some of it was all in the head - I thought I should be able to do stuff, but didn't want to chance it. My day is described in as full as I can remember and describe, along with my night and this morning in my full archived page for today. |

Yesterday was one time the
BBC's fetish for thunderstorms was
correct...or almost correct. After mostly
sunny spells from late morning to around
4pm, the sky started getting rather
cloudy, and I heard the first distant peal
of thunder at nearly 6.30pm. Ten or so
minutes later I saw a distant flash. More
flashed and rumbles of thunder followed,
but it all seemed to several miles or more
away. I think we only had one very heavy
downpour, but even that didn't last long.
Most of the time it just seemed light
rain. The most significant thing was how
humid it seemed to get, and that lead on
to the stickiest night I have endured all
year. The temperature peaked at around 28°
C.
I saw mist shown on
the tail of yesterday's forecast from as
early as 4am. I never observed any then
because I was mostly sleeping, but I did
look out the window at 6 and 7am, and at
worst there was a very slight haze, but
definitely no fog. The latest revision to
the forecast has not really changed
anything, and sunny spells are still
predicted from 11am after a rather dull
morning. By 3pm there might be full
sunshine, and the temperature should peak at
26°
C. Tomorrow's
forecast has
changed a lot,
and partly for
the better -
but not much.
Tomorrow is
Petts Wood
Calling - an
outdoor music
festival that
I hope to be
attending,
Yesterday they
were
predicting
thunderstorms
for the middle
of it. That
has now
changed to
being a mostly
grey day with
some
occasional
showers. There
might be few
showers, but
they could
extend much
later into the
evening
compared to
the previous
predictions of
thunderstorms.
It is going to
be a lot
cooler at just
23° C,
although all
this forecast
refers to the
Catford area,
and Petts Wood
is some way
away, and the
weather could
be a fair bit
different -
better of
worse !
I don't think I planned to do it in advance, but I took a holiday from watching my sugar and calorie intake yesterday. I didn't go too wild about it, and by chance a lot of what I ate was not that bad, but it is still interesting to see the results of it today. All this and more about yesterday, last night, and the start of this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was another hot
day. It was an almost all sunny day, but
there were times when we only had sunny
spells, and I seem to recall almost an
hour without seeing the sun. The
temperature still reached about 27 - 28°
C.
I have doubts about
the accuracy of today's forecast. It has
been very dull until about 15 minutes ago
when we had a sprinkle of rain, but it does
seem to have stopped now. Later on we might
get 5 or so hours of sunny spells, but after
that it is tricky to know what to expect.
From 4pm there could be thundery showers,
but it seems unlikely they will continue
until 7pm. We could see sunny spells,
ordinary rain, or indeed a thunderstorm.
Certainly the temperature rising to 28°
C could "boil up" a
thunderstorm. Tomorrow
could start with mist and
fog, and it will be dull
until midday when sunny
spells may start, and lead
on a bit later to full
sunshine. Tomorrow could
see a very pleasant 26°
C.
So we say goodbye to another month - a month that did have a few nice summer-like days - but that seemed to pass far too quickly. It is quite depressing to think we are now in the 8th month of the year, and there is so little to show for it, and winter is now so close. However yesterday had a few good points. Those points, and other stuff about my day, night, and this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
